CHAPTER FIVE: THE FIGHT

As Sophia was still in deep thought on who could be the one shooting in front of her house, her phone rang, she could hear the phone ring but don't know where she kept it .She traced the ringing tone to where the phone is and as she was about answering the call, Liam collected the phone from her and checked the number calling, It was a man's number, no other person than James the investigator. His reaction sends shivers down Sophia's spine.

“Hello, Mr James, please stop calling this my sweetheart’s number. She's very very busy. Thank you”. After Liam was done saying this, he hung up.

“Your sweetheart?, you're calling my wife your sweetheart in my presence” Adrian rushed to where Liam was standing and gave him a blow on his head. He did it twice and a fight started between both of them.

As they were fighting, Sophia's phone fell off Liam’s hand and she rushed and picked it and went to the kitchen to return the call because as Liam mentioned James, she knew it was her investigator .

“Mr James, please this is Sophia. I'm sorry someone else picked the call. A lot is happening in my house right now, infact a fight has ensued between Liam and Adrian and it's a very severe one. Please come and rescue me and my son “Sophia said, her voice barely a whisper.

“I’ll be there in a jiffy,” James responded.

Sophia was not aware that the person releasing those gunshots was James  and that James had been outside her building for some minutes. He was there when Adria came with his mother and when Liam entered Sophia's house.

Liam and Andria were still fighting and the fight was a very severe one. Sophia tried separating them, they disagreed and pushed her down.

Just then,there was a knock on the door and Sophia rushed to the door to open it.

To her greatest surprise,it was James.

“James, you're welcome. Thank you for coming. Please come and rescue me and Theo.” Sophia said,her voice very low,and almost sobbing.

“Don’t worry you'll be fine. Just go inside. I’ll come in shortly “James responded

Sophia closed the door, pretended as though nothing happened and still met Liam and Adrian still fighting.

“Andria by the time I'm done with you today, you’ll never open your mouth to insult me. Wealth is not strength” Liam said, as he used the broken lamp on his hand and hit Andria's head. He hit it so hard that his head was filled with blood.

Sophia was literally trembling seeing this happen to her very before.

Just then, there was another gunshot outside the building. The two men immediately stopped fighting and faced the angle the sound of the gunshots was coming from.The gunshots came again and again.

Immediately,the door of Sophia's apartment and James entered with one of his colleagues and both of them were well armed.

Seeing him, Liam tried to run but James stopped him.

“If you move, I shoot ..On your knees.You both are under arrest.” James said.

“Mr Adrian, you're bleeding so badly and should be rushed to the hospital”James continued.

Adrian did not know he was bleeding but he was losing strength.

Immediately, James said that,he touched his head, and saw blood. His clothes that were wet and he thought it was sweat were also blood…

“Liam you did this to me right” Andria turned to Liam. You’ll pay for this.I’ll make sure you do.

James beckoned to one of his colleagues

“Please take Adrian to the hospital before he becomes unconscious”

Immediately,his colleague held Andria and walked him to where their car was parked and drove with him to the hospital.

“Liam, you're under arrest. Anything you say here will be used against you in the court of law”James said, using handcuffs on his wrist and led him to his car.

Sophia had already gone into Theo's room and saw that he was sleeping so she left him and locked the door.

Sophia followed Liam and James outside. She stopped at the door while they continued until they got to where James’s car was.

As they were about to enter the car, Liam slipped from his hand and escaped. He cocked his gun to shoot him but missed it. He ran out to search for him with his colleagues but didn't see.

After spending some time, James came back to Sophia's house.

“Sophia, I hope you're fine. I”ll come and see you in the evening. I have to go now and get that criminal that just escaped.” James said and drove off.

Sophia watched him as he drove off.All of a sudden, her phone buzzed and a text came in. The text reads:

“Andria is dead. Before we could reach the hospital, he bled to death before we got to the hospital. My condolences “.
