View MoreAmelia sat on the cozy sofa chair hugging her knees while she stared at the double red line indicator. She was somewhat lost in thoughts, and couldn't just think of anything.
Subconsciously she stroked her belly, as she felt this unwavering inner uneasiness that kept growing stronger and stronger.
Three years of her marriage didn't seem to change anything, his cold heart and stoic demeanor, her single-minded dedication was like a joke on the contrary.
“She can't just give in, maybe he'll accept the baby…” she thought.
Suddenly, the door sensor chimed, and she raised her head immediately, her gaze on the only man she ever loved. He was in a black and gray suit that wrapped around his broad shoulders and narrow waist. His cold eyes swept over, there was no expression on his indifferently handsome face.
Amelia quickly shoved the pregnancy indicator into her purse, and stood up in a panic, “Alex…”
He walked slowly into the living room, with his cold aura and interrupted her, “Amelia, let's get a divorce.”
She jerked up her head and looked at him with disbelief in her eyes.
She stood up from the sofa slowly, and smiled a little reluctantly, “What's wrong Alex? Why do you want a divorce all of a sudden? Did I do anything wrong?” Amelia reached out to get hold of his hands, but he slapped her hands off.
“Jenny has returned back to town. You have been sitting in the position of Mrs.Hall for long enough. It's time for a change, you're not needed anymore.” His expression was stern, and she knew he meant every single word he said, Amelia just stood still like a heavy weight was placed on her.
Jenny Cole?
The name quickly flew into her head, it's been a long time since she heard this familiar yet strange name.
Amelia’s memories came flooding back, and she recalled the “little sister" who had once possessed all of Alex's attention and preference.
She's back?
Amelia looked at him in a bit of fuzziness, and she could feel her heart ache, like it's being torn into pieces.
From start to finish, his heart only belonged to her, Jenny Cole…
“What if I refuse?”
At this point her voice was trembling, and she wondered what gave her the audacity. Her gaze was stubborn, and she maintained it.
Amelia had loved Alex for so many years, before she became his wife, and now she's with his child…
Why should she be the one to let go now that she has returned?
“I'm not asking for your opinion Amelia, you know too well who I love, if not grandfather forced me to marry you, do you think I would have given you more than a passing glance?” His tone was mocking, sneering in disgust.
Although she knew there was no lie in what he said, she could feel her breath hitch at his words.
The frustration in her heart couldn't hold back the tears from her eyes to flow freely. “But Alex you agreed to marry me, how can we think of getting a divorce while Grandpa is still alive? Why do you always have to choose me over Jenny?”
As soon as those words left her mouth, a resounding slap landed on her cheek, making her feel a bit dizzy, like she was going to fall.
“You're not worthy to mention that name Amelia!"
Amelia moved back a bit because of how loud he yelled at her. Has he gone crazy over her? She trembled and held her cheek because of the stinging pain she felt.
This is the first time Alex hit Amelia, and now because of her…
“I'm not getting a divorce!, I'm meant to be your wife and not her” she sobbed hard, and she didn't care what was going to happen next.
She noticed the impatience that flashed through his eyes, and in the blink of an eye, he pushed her hard to the sofa chair, tearing her clothes with his hands.
“You’re still not willing to divorce after all I've said huh? You're such an ungrateful bitch!”. She looked at him with tears in her eyes and with a sad face, but his expression was stoic.
Amelia knew what he was going to do next, the thought of the child in her belly made her worried.
She pressed against his chest, trying to escape his grip. “Let go of me Alex!”
As if he didn't listen to her cry, he squeezed her hands and pinned it above her head.
“Why are you trying to escape now? Is this not what you want? You're such a pretender, Amelia!” He yelled into her ears.
He tore her last covering, thrusted fiercely and moved roughly inside of her. She closed her eyes in pain, praying for his movements to be slower.
He didn't care about her tears, and the pains she felt. All she could see was hatred, and aggression.
She felt like an empty wooden boat, floating on water, and swaying to every one of his cruel movements.
His stormy movements took forever, and she couldn't help but think about her child.
He got up from her body, looked at her pale skin, and ripped body, and she could see disgust all over his face.
“You make me sick Amelia, you're such a pretender!" He said and spat on her.
He gave her one last cold glance and hurried upstairs to freshen up and change his clothes.
“Amelia, make sure you sign the divorce papers, I'll be sending my driver to come pick it up”. Hearing the sound of the door closing, Amelia wept so loudly, she had held herself for too long now.
She lay helplessly on the sofa, with an empty gaze, and suddenly she felt a sharp pain below her abdomen, then again she remembered her baby.
“It hurts!” Amelia gritted her teeth and grabbed her phone with trembling hands. She dialed the first number in her contact list.
“Al..ex, Alex, my stomach hurts so badly, please come back home, I need your help, please…”
He interrupted her, not letting her finish her words, “For how long will you continue to play this game of yours? I'm very busy now, I don't have time for your drama, behave yourself!”
“Alex, I'm not…” before she could complete her words, he already hung up the call on her.
Amelia dialed the call again, but only a mechanical female voice was heard, and Alex didn't pick up.
With tears clouding her eyeballs, she could only think of one other number. She dialed it immediately, and a cheerful female voice from the other side of the phone spoke.
“Lia, what's up?”
“Emily… please help me, I'm in pain…” Amelia spoke with clenched teeth, as the pain became so unbearable for her.
She burst into uncontrollable tears, after she spoke up.
“Lia, what's wrong? Take it easy, tell me where you are, I'll be right there now!”
“Home…” Amelia had little energy to support herself, her hand shook, and her phone fell freely to the ground.
She could still hear Emily’s anxious voice in the background, slowly and slowly it disappeared, her voice faint until she could no longer hear her voice anymore…
But he was able to talk to her so calmly. Such a person is too frightening."What the hell do you want?" Jenny asked with a trembling voice as she took a step back and pressed her body against the door."I just didn't expect to just come to visit Grandfather Brian Hall in the hospital and find you coming out of Grandfather Brian Hall’s hospital room, and you went ahead and killed him!"Maurice’s voice suddenly became very sad for some reason. And just as Maurice said this, he also quietly pressed the record button on his phone. Jenny did not look at Maurice’s actions.Jenny saw such a sudden change in Maurice. Her heart was inexplicably filled with fear. She looked around and found that there was no one else. Despite the fear, she soon calmed down.Jenny thought in her mind, since Maurice claimed he saw the whole process, but he did not directly stop her, there must be his consideration. Now Maurice appeared in front of her, it was obvious that he just wanted to get a certain commit
"Benson, shut up, I know what to do, it's not your turn to order me around!" Jenny’s voice suddenly drew up, obviously already moved with anger. "I know, don't get angry, and watch out for our baby." Benson did not get angry, but laughed more happily. Jenny hung up the phone with a very gloomy face, pulled the curtains closed and began to change her clothes. "Damn it, this baby needs to be taken care of now." She touched her belly, feeling the little life beating inside, but without the slightest hint of weakness, her expression became even more disgusted. This is a sinful seed, not able to stay in this world of life. Soon Jenny was in order, the nurse's uniform on her body had been changed, she put on a mask to cover her delicate cheeks, pushed the medical cart and slowly walked out. Checking the numbers of the wards in the corridor, she finally stopped at the door of Alex’s grandfather's ward. Through the clear glass on the door, Jenny could clearly see Alex’s grandf
"Well, let grandpa rest, let's go out first." Alex, seeing that the scene in front of him was about to get out of hand, patted Amelia's shoulder and said. "Grandpa, I will see you again tomorrow." Amelia carefully wiped away the tears that belonged to her on Grandpa's hand and covered him with the quilt, finally dropping a gentle kiss on the back of his hand. She could feel that grandpa's time was running out. Just by meeting for this moment, she could see that these simple actions of grandpa required too much of his spirit. After coming out of the hospital room, Amelia's mood was bad. She had never thought that her grandfather's condition would be so serious. Why did all the people who loved her leave her one by one like this, even her grandfather's condition suddenly became worse? Was it all because of her? Is she really a calamity? "You saw the situation of grandfather. If you still want grandfather to leave in peace, recently stop saying the divorce thing, even if it
“Damn bitch, why isn’t she dead yet!” Jenny cursed in her heart, her hands clenched into fists.Watching Alex’s fading figure, the corners of Jenny’s mouth lifted slightly, an idea already forming in her mind, one that could push Amelia to the edge of her rope. “Mr. Driver, I’m going to the hospital first, can you give me a ride?” Amelia stood beside the car, speaking to the driver who was washing it. The driver hesitated, his hands pausing mid-movement. The housekeeper and several servants who had worked in the villa for years had been thrown out because of Amelia, and the story had spread quickly among the staff. Their attitude toward Amelia had shifted completely. “I’m still the hostess of this villa, at least for now. You don’t have to worry,” Amelia said softly, seeing the driver’s uncertainty. The driver’s gaze shifted from the car to the space behind Amelia. Her body stiffened. She heard the familiar sound of approaching footsteps, heavy, steady, cold. It had to be Alex.
