LOGINALEXANDER
Slowly, I descended the staircase and saw my father climbing up. He didn’t say a word as he walked past me, and I lowered my gaze.
I tightened my grip on my gown. After seeing the disgust in the maids’ eyes when they finished preparing me, all the confidence and excitement I had felt about wearing a new dress and shoes vanished.
“Let’s go,” Alpha Damon said.
I lifted my head and saw two figures ahead of me—Alpha Damon and Lucky. I had known Lucky for years. It was rumored that he was an abandoned child the late king had taken in. Some people even speculated that Lucky was one of the late king’s sons, a child he had refused to acknowledge publicly. But what interested me most about Lucky was his relationship with my sister, Tracy.
Ever since he began visiting our house with Alpha Damon, I had caught him several times whispering to Tracy in the dark.
“What are you thinking about?” Alpha Damon’s voice cut through my thoughts. He sounded irritated and impatient.
I snapped out of my thoughts and looked around. The guards at the main entrance were gone. My father must have sent them away. Then I looked at Alpha Damon’s handsome face and found myself imagining what it would be like to see that face first thing in the morning.
“Get in the carriage. You’re wasting our time, Alexander,” Alpha Damon said. The annoyance on his face was obvious, and he looked furious.
I climbed into the carriage and was immediately fascinated by it. The seats were covered in soft fabric, carefully made from the fur of some animal—I thought perhaps sheep. I ran my fingers over it, and my lips curved slightly.
“Beautiful,” I muttered in admiration.
Lucky laughed.
I turned to look at Alpha Damon. His face was expressionless, his eyes cold, and his lips pressed into a tight line. I could see the displeasure in his gaze. The ride was filled with a suffocating silence, and I quickly shrank into a corner, stealing subtle glances at the carriage’s interior, not daring to make it obvious.
When we arrived at the palace, Alpha Damon instructed the butler, “Take her to her room. Treat her as my wife.”
Then he waved us off. I could sense the impatience in both his voice and the dismissive motion of his hand. Keeping my eyes lowered to the floor, I quietly followed the butler.
After leading me to my room, the butler said, “Make yourself comfortable. Dinner will be prepared soon, and someone will come to inform you and escort you to the dining hall.”
I sat on the bed and looked around. Then I got to my feet, walked into the bathroom, and freshened up. When I returned, I threw myself onto the bed, spreading out my arms and legs as I exhaled in relief. The softness of the mattress relaxed me instantly.
My thoughts drifted to the future. Now that I had been given a room twice the size of the one I used to have, excitement bloomed in my chest. I let myself hope for a better life. Rolling over on the bed, I found myself thinking that maybe Alpha Damon would not treat me cruelly.
Eventually, I got up and opened the wardrobe. The beautiful dresses hanging inside were stunning, and for a moment, I was completely captivated. I reached out and pulled one free, but the moment I saw the size, I knew it was not mine. My mood immediately soured because I already knew who they belonged to.
Alpha Damon must have carefully chosen them for Tracy himself. He must have believed his bond with her was already set in stone. A self-deprecating chuckle slipped past my lips. I had been foolish enough to daydream that he might one day be attentive to me. But bringing me home at all was already more kindness than I had expected.
Just then, a voice called loudly from behind the door. “Your Majesty, may this humble servant be granted entry into your room?”
I froze, unsure of how to respond. When I finally snapped out of my shock, I said, “Please, come in.”
The door opened, and the butler stepped inside. Bowing his head, he said, “Your Majesty, dinner is ready. I will escort you to the dining hall.”
At the mention of dinner, my sour mood vanished at once, replaced by excitement. My steps turned light and eager as I replied with enthusiasm, “Please.”
I caught the flicker of surprise on the butler’s face. Clearly, he had not expected me to agree so readily. Without another word, he turned and led me out of the room and into the palace corridor. My eyes widened as I took in the towering pillars, the grand curtains, the murals painted across the walls, and the statues standing in silent elegance. Even the broad doorways seemed to possess a life of their own. The palace had been designed so delicately and magnificently that it nearly stole the breath from my lungs.
The moment I stepped into the dining hall, the rich aroma of food filled the air. My nose twitched, my mouth watered, and I swallowed over and over in anticipation. A lavish spread of dishes covered the table, and the fruits in particular caught my attention—some of them I had never tasted before.
The butler must have noticed my reaction because he said lightly, “Go ahead and eat.”
I paid no attention to his tone or the expression on his face. I hurried to sit down and took a large bite of the fruit that had first caught my eye. Then I reached for a well-cooked chicken leg, lifted it to my lips, and bit into it eagerly. I ate with pure relish. It tasted incredible.
“Mm… mm…” I murmured as I gnawed on the meat.
Then, in the middle of eating, I felt it—a gaze fixed intensely on me.
I looked up.
Alpha Damon was staring at me as though he had just seen a ghost.
ALEXANDERWhen I saw Chris on the floor, he was back on his feet in a flash. He burst into exaggerated laughter, then said with a grin, “Again!”I didn’t hesitate. The moment I moved, I struck him with a swipe of my claw and sent him flying. He landed hard on the floor and looked up at me in surprise.I was surprised too. The first time I hit him, I told myself he simply hadn’t been prepared. But this time, he had been fully ready, and I still managed to land the blow.“What a powerful wolf,” Chris said with a sigh. “The speed, the accuracy, the strength... I can only win if I’m in my wolf form.”I stayed quiet. I didn’t know how to react. For years, I had dreamed of and wished for this day, but now that it had finally come, I didn’t even know how I felt.Chris looked at me casually and said, “Attack me again.”I was just about to move when a shout rang out from behind him.“Enough!”Both of us turned toward the voice and saw Mira striding over. Her face was dark, and she glared at me
ALEXANDERChris’s eyes dimmed as he replied to her gloomily, “Mira, you need to show great respect to my wife. She is the Luna of the pack, not you. I haven’t fallen in love with you in the past three years, I do not love you now, and nothing in the future will change my decision. I hope you can respect my choice and stop dreaming of us ending up together.”Hearing Chris’s harsh words, I realized he was truly angry at Mira for what she had just said. Without hesitation, I decided to claim him.I reached out and wrapped an arm possessively around his waist, then looked at Mira with open contempt. From the corner of my eye, I caught the surprise on Chris’s face.I sneered at Mira. “Chris is my husband. I don’t like other women entertaining thoughts about him. I am jealous and possessive, and I have no intention of sharing my man with anyone—especially not with you.”Mira glared at me with hostility, but her stare did not intimidate me at all. Instead, it only made me bolder. The days of
ALEXANDERChris ignored Peter completely and walked straight to me. He helped me to my feet and said, “I’m sorry you got hurt. Next time, idiots like him won’t get the chance to do something like that.”Although his words touched my heart, I was still upset by Peter calling me a weak woman. I had grown up being called an ugly girl—was I supposed to endure another humiliating label too?I turned to Peter with cold eyes and sneered. “I may be weak today, but tomorrow I’ll show you my strength and make you eat your words.”Peter looked at me strangely, then burst into laughter. He laughed so hard his body convulsed. After a moment, he stopped, slipped one hand into his pocket, and said, “I’m sorry.”The corner of my lips twitched as I wondered what game he was playing. How could he switch from hostile to friendly in the blink of an eye?Peter waved a hand and said, “Don’t think too much about it. I’ve always wondered what kind of woman could make Chris, who has lived like a monk, fall in

ALEXANDERShe lunged at me and slammed into my body, sending me rolling across the ground. The impact rattled my bones, and I struggled to push myself back up, my whole body trembling. She looked down at me with scorn. “You’re such a weakling, and yet you dare to be with someone like Chris?”My legs ached as I forced myself upright. A sharp, itching pain crawled along my arm, and when I glanced at the bruise, I saw with shock that it was already healing.I clenched my fists and raised them, taking a fighting stance. At the sight of me, she merely shook her head and sneered in disdain. “Posing.”Before I could react, my vision blurred. My legs gave out beneath me as an invisible force hurled me backward, and I crashed hard into a tree. Her mocking laughter rang out. “You are weak, a useless thing. And if you think Chris is coming to save you, you’re deluding yourself. He’ll never show up here. He’s busy, and he won’t make it in time—even if you drop dead.”Her words made my heart sink.
ALEXANDERThe dusk sunlight drifted into my room from the horizon as I slowly opened my eyes, my body still sore and tired. Memories of him taking me again and again made heat rise to my face. It had been thrilling, intoxicating, and deeply pleasurable. I had never felt so cared for, so thoroughly cherished, especially in the way he had pleased me.“What are you thinking?” his deep voice asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.I quickly pulled the duvet over my face, utterly embarrassed. If he knew what I had been thinking, what would he think of me? But perhaps I was overthinking it. He simply acted as though he had no idea what was on my mind.“You shouldn’t wish to see what is hidden in the basement. It is terrifying. That is why no one dares to audaciously barge into my house,” I heard Chris say.I lowered the duvet and looked around, only to realize that he had already left my room. I had no desire to get out of bed, so I lay there quietly for a while. Eventually, I forced myself
I pulled the man down by the neck. He was a head taller than me, but I didn’t care whether he was watching or not. His faint breath brushed against my nose, and I shut my eyes, feeling both nervous and uneasy. Then, to my shock, my palm suddenly met empty air. The neck I had been pulling was gone.
I stared at my naked reflection in the mirror, hickeys blooming across my skin. Memories of last night crashed over me in vivid waves, so fresh it felt as though it had happened only moments ago.The way those men had taken turns with me, their rough hands roaming over my body, the way one of them
