New Paces

“Alpha Matthew!” My heart raced as I saw his wound worsening by the second.

Jamien, Delta Paulo, and Delta Ezra rushed to our side, ready to give chase to the rogues who had attacked us. But when they saw the fear in my eyes, they carried Alpha Matthew back to the safety of our packhouse.

Thankfully, my mother was already there, preparing the tools we needed to treat Alpha Matthew’s injury. I held his hand tightly, trying to comfort him as Mom worked to heal his wound.

“Don’t worry, mate,” Alpha Matthew said, his voice a reassuring balm. “I’ll be better soon.”

I couldn’t help but chuckle through my tears. “How can you be so stubborn?”

“It’s not that bad of a wound,” he replied with a grin.

I rolled my eyes at his cavalier attitude, but deep down, I was grateful for his strength. It was one of the many reasons I loved him.
