For the rest of the week, Rain stayed in her dorm crying. Kylie stayed by her side after Rain told her what happened in the library. Kylie tried to cheer her up, but there was nothing she could say that would make Rain feel as if she hadn’t been rejected by her mate.
The night before the first day of training, Rain woke up in the middle of the night screaming in pain. Tony was being intimate with someone and her wolf lost her fucking shit. Rain’s wolf felt feelings of rage, pain, and envy simultaneously. Her mate was with another woman and her wolf was grieving by his actions. Why was he doing this to her? He knew it would hurt her. Kylie laid in bed with Rain, her scent soothing her just enough to lessen her pain. They fell asleep together, Rain crying herself to sleep. Rain woke up the next morning pissed off. She knew it was her wolf making her feel that way. She felt as if she were in a daze as she dressed in her uniform and readied herself for training. After she dressed, she walked to the dining hall with Kylie for breakfast. Kylie tried to make conversation with her, but Rain barely heard anything she said. The dining hall had rows of tables with benches and the room was busy with new recruits eating and socializing. Rain scanned the room and relaxed when she realized Tony wasn’t there. She didn’t want to face him. They both knew that that he’d been fucking someone the night before, Tony had to know how much pain he caused Rain. Truth was, he probably didn’t care that they held the mate bond. Rain and Kylie got breakfast and found a table to sit at. Rain barely ate and Kylie noticed. “You need to eat Rain. You’ll need all your strength for training today,” Kylie told her. Kylie was right, but Rain didn’t have an appetite and felt sick to her stomach because she was still upset about what Tony had done to her. “I’ll be fine Kylie. What do you think training will be like?” Rain asked her friend, changing the subject. “ I heard the first day is combat training. Both classes will be there. I mean, we don’t get to fight the guys but they will be observing us. Jenna’s brother, Andy, came here last year and he said that the men are paired before they come here, but the women have to fight every single recruit to be paired with an Elite member. So, they get to chill and watch us girls fight each other. How fucked up is that? I asked Andy why they made us fight each other and he said it was allow the alpha candidates to determine who they want to be their Luna.” Kylie explained and Rain’s mouth dropped. “There are 20 female recruits though. 10 are in the guardianship training and 10 are Elite members. You’re saying that we have to fight 19 people so the alpha candidates can choose a potential Luna. You can’t be fucking serious,” Rain said angrily. She was shocked that she would have to fight 19 people so people like Tony could choose a Luna. Just when she thought things couldn’t get worse, Rain’s luck was digging deeper into a hole. “Those are the rules. I guess that means we will be fighting too. This sucks. Don’t hold back though.” Kylie giggled and Rain smiled. “I won’t.” Rain assured her, both of the girls laughing together. As Rain started to feel more relaxed, she felt Tony’s presence. He walked in, but she didn’t look in his direction. She needed to forget him and move on, even if it hurt her. She knew she couldn’t live her life worrying about what he was doing. She wanted to be happy, even though she was rejected by her mate. After breakfast, Kylie and Rain went to the training room and sat in the women’s section. In the front of the room sat the 3 most powerful Elite members, Alpha Leo, Beta James, and Gamma Mark. Beta James saw Rain and smiled at her, nodding gently. She smiled back at him and then continued her conversation with Kylie. Monica was arguing with a pretty brunette girl, Monica slapping the girl so hard the girl fell to the ground. Tony walked in and froze at the sight of the two girls fighting. “You’re a fucking slut Mya! I told you he was mine!” Monica yelled at the girl, who stood and smiled at Monica. “He didn’t complain last night. Guess we will see who is the better fit big sister.” Mya said, smiled at Tony, and then walked away. Mya was Monica’s little sister and Rain was sure she was the one that Tony was fucking during the night. She could smell his scent all over the girl. She was the one he had hurt her to be with. Rain’s eyes flashed red and Kylie touched her hand, Rain looking at her friend calmly. “Forget them Rain. Let it out during training,” Kylie told her. Rain’s eyes turned back to her normal emerald color, Rain nodding slowly. “With pleasure,” Rain said and Tony looked at her after she spoke. Their eyes met for a moment, but Rain looked away, ignoring his presence. While they waited for class to start, Rain found herself becoming thirsty. “Be right back. I’m gonna grab a water. Want one?” Rain asked Kylie as she stood up. “I’m too nervous to drink anything. Aren’t you?” Kylie asked her. “No, should I be? Be right back “ Rain laughed, walking over to the refreshment table. She grabbed a water, opened it and took a sip of her drink. After she closed the water bottle, she turned and ran into someone, dropping her water bottle. “Sorry,” she said and froze to see a very good looking guy standing in front of her. From his aura, Rain could see he was an Elite wolf, an alpha wolf. He was handsome with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was muscular in all the right places and Rain felt herself more than attracted to him. He smiled and picked up her fallen water bottle from the ground, Rain taking it from him. “Thanks. Sorry about that,” she apologized. “It’s no big deal. You’re Rain right?” He asked and she froze. “Yeah. And you are?” She asked him, wondering why he knew her name. “Ok that was probably weird. I’m Andrew Rivers. I met Kylie last week and she talked about you. It’s nice to finally meet you. I’ve been trying to meet everyone here like the academy suggests” he said honestly. Rivers? Was he related to Tony? From what Rain heard, Tony was an only child. “Are you related to Alpha Leo?” Rain asked and he smiled. “Yeah, he’s my uncle. Is that a problem” He said softly. “No, I was just curious. Nice to meet you Andrew.” She told him and smiled. “You can just call me Drew. I heard you were top of your combat class in school. That true?” He asked her and Rain looked at him in surprise. “Yes, but how do you know that?” Rain asked him. He smiled, thinking about how he should answer her question. “Just curious I guess,” he said and Rain smiled at him. He was flirting with her and she was liking every moment of it. This guy may have been Tony’s cousin, but he seemed sweet and genuine. Rain began to feel Tony’s rage, but she ignored how he was feeling. She didn’t want to care about someone’s feeling that didn’t take her feelings into consideration. In that moment, she decided to have some fun. “What else are you curious about?” She flirted back with him. Tony’s rage heightened, his wolf pissed off. Drew was surprised by her comment. She felt his body react to her and he smiled. “A lot of things, some people. You think any of the competition looks challenging?” He asked her. “Not anything I can’t handle,” she told him. “Well, maybe we can talk later when you win,” he said. Before Rain could respond, Tony appeared. “Rain, can I talk to you?” Tony said , Drew looking at him in surprise. Rain saw Alpha Leo watching the three of them closely. “Shouldn’t you be talking to Mya? Last time I checked, that’s not my name. See you later Drew. Nice talking to you.” Rain said and went back to sit with Kylie. She could feel how confused and angry he was for her blowing him off the way she did. Rain didn’t care. She didn’t like that he was so eager to hurt her for his own personal gain. She was going to move on whether he liked it or not. Alpha Leo stood and made a speech about the training session. Kylie was right. We had to fight every opponent in hand to hand combat and no one was leaving the training area until the task was completed. Rain watched each fight intently. She didn’t see anyone as a challenge. They had to fight all guardians first before they would be able to fight an Elite wolf. Rain beat them all effortlessness. She caught Drew watching her closely. He took a strong interest in her, but she wasn’t sure why he was focused only on her. There were no rules in the training session except that no weapons were allowed and they weren’t allowed to kill their opponents. Some wolves broke bones and some were beaten black and blue. Rains strength was nothing like anyone had seen before. No one landed a single punch in her. When she was called to fight Monica, Monica looked nervous. They faced each other and waited until the fight was signaled to start. “At least it’s fair this time,” Rain said and smiled at Monica. Eric was starting at Rain, and she also saw Tony watching her closely. “You bitch,” Monica said. “Begin!” Alpha Leo signaled and Monica charged towards Rain. Monica was letting her anger towards Rain cloud her judgement, which is why Rain was able to twist around her, grab her arm and knock her to the ground easily. “You are weak and pathetic,” Rain told her, Monica screaming as Rain bent back her arm. She contemplated on if she should break her arm, but Rain looked up to see Tony watching her in fear. He didn’t want her to hurt Monica because she was upset with him. So, Rain hit her hard enough to knock her out, Monica falling unconsciously to the ground. Rain looked over to Gamma Mark, who looked at Rain in anger. She knew he hated her and she didn’t care. Rain was pissed off and she made sure everyone could see she wasn’t giving up without a fight. “Winner, Rain Miller! Last competition. Mya McCain and Rain Miller,” Aloha Leo announced as medics took Monica away. Mya joined Rain on the fighting mat, Mya smiling at her. Rain felt her wolf want to kill this girl, but Rain shook the evil thoughts from her head. Mya took a fighting stance, but Rain didn’t. She listened to all the whispers about her from her peers. “Did you see how she took out Monica?” One peer commented. “ No one has touched her the entire session. How is she that strong.” Another peer whispered. “Who is this girl? She doesn’t fight like a guardian.” Another peer spoke. “She was going to kill Monica, did you see that?” Someone else spoke. All the whispers drove Rain crazy. “She’s a monster. Told you she’s probably a rogue,” someone said and Rain closed her eyes. “Begin!” Alpha Leo announced and Rain opened her eyes to see Mya throwing a punch at her. The girl was fast. Rain caught her wrist and the girls eyes widened. Rain snapped her wrist, her bone breaking. The girls screamed in pain and fell to her knees, Rain looking down at the girl, who was crying. Tears streamed down her face and Rain looked at her coldly, seeing fear in the girls eyes. “Forfeit,” Rain told the girl, who stared at her angrily as she held her broken wrist. “No,” she said in fear. “Forfeit or I’ll break your other fucking wrist. Your choice,” Rain told her without emotion. Mya looked around nervously and tears streamed down her face. She bowed her head and took a deep breath. “I forfeit,” she said and people began whispering in surprise. Rain looked up at Tony, who stared at her in shock, the blood drained from his face. Even Drew looked surprised, but he looked more impressed than anything. “Winner. Rain Miller first place. That concludes our competition. Everyone is dismissed.” Alpha Leo announced. Everyone stared at Rain. She knew it was unnecessary to hurt Mya and make a fool out of her. But Rain was hurt and wanted revenge. She wanted everyone to know not to fuck with her and she got her point across. Kylie walked up to Rain, both shock and fear in her eyes. Had she scared away the only friend she had made at Shadow Academy? “You ok?” Kylie asked. “No, not really. I’m going to go for a walk to clear my head.” Rain told her. “Ok, I’ll see you back at the dorm.” Kylie said softly. “Yeah,” Rain said and quickly left. Rain felt as if she didn’t know who she was anymore. What Tony had done to her had upset her so badly that she felt unhinged. She couldn’t control her emotions and she didn’t know why she acted the way she did during the competitions. She went into an empty lounge, feeling as if she couldn’t control her breathing. She was losing herself and she hated what she was becoming. Everything about her had broken and she knew it was because Tony’s rejected her. What was she going to do? She felt as if she couldn’t breathe and she was panicking. All she could do was scream.Tony hated hospitals with a passion. Being in the building reminded him constantly of how he failed to protect his mate and child. The rage he felt was endless, especially because it was his own father that had caused him to lose what he loved most. What had he done to deserve this fate? Why was he allowed to live instead of Rain and Christian? His father had broken several of his bones to prevent him from saving his family, but Tony desire was to die alongside them. The agony that he felt when he felt Rain’s life slip away was unbearable. It made him feel as if his life was meaningless. Even in an unconscious state, he felt every ounce of Rain being murdered. It was bad enough that he witnessed his son’s throat being violently torn out by his own father. And he had just sworn to the love of his life that he would always protect their son. It was early in the morning when Tony had awaken from his coma. It took a few days for his body to recover enough to wake him from his injuries.
Rain couldn’t be happier in her life. After leaving Shadow Academy, Emma took them to a secluded cabin miles away deep within an isolated forest. She knew that this was the same cabin location from the vision her unborn child shared with her. Months had passed and Rain had given birth to a handsome baby boy. She named him Christian, just as his name was always destined to be. A year had passed since they fled the academy, and Christian was now 3 months old. Giving birth had been quite the experience for Rain. She had such a complicated birthing experience that she almost lost her life. In the end, both her and her baby pulled through just fine. She spent most days cuddling her infant, knowing that her time with him was limited. He was handsome like Tony, having his father’s incredible gray eyes. Unlike Tony’s brownish hair, Christian had golden blonde hair like Rain. He was indeed a very powerful and special child. Not only did he share his visions with them often, Christian never b
Rain stared at Beta James. This man was her biological father, and he confirmed the vision given to her by her unborn child. She felt a sudden warmth within her, wondering if it was her baby causing her to feel that way or because she finally knew about her past. “Why are you telling me this now?”Rain asked Beta James. He studied her face as if he was in deep thought. She couldn’t tell if she saw fear or anticipation from his facial expressions. “What did Christian show you?” He asked her. Rain wasn’t surprised that he knew that she had gotten a vision from her unborn child or that he knew his name. “Christian?” Tony said in confusion. “Rain’s mother saw both of your futures, including your son’s future. He will be unlike anyone in this pack,” Beta James explained. There was a long pause, Rain watching Tony as he came to the realization that he was going to have a son. “He showed me the day you took me to live with Emma,” Rain said truthfully. “That was the last day I saw
The sunlight from Tony’s bedroom window woke Rain up the next morning. She had never felt as rested as she did in that moment. It was so early that no one in the dorms were awake. Rain quickly sat up, realizing she fell asleep in the male dorm area. According to the rules, she could be locked up in a dungeon or beaten for breaking this sacred rule. “Relax, you won’t be punished. I will never let anything happen to you,” Tony spoke and Rain looked up to see Tony staring at her. They smiled to one another, Tony sitting up and kissing her softly on her lips. Rain relaxed, all her fears evaporating whenever he touched her. “I still should get back. Make sure you win today,” she told him and smiled. “If you are there, then I will make sure I keep my title,” he told her. Rain dressed and snuck out of his room. She quickly walked to the female dorms when she ran into Alpha Leo. Despite falling for his son, Rain had a strong feeling that Alpha would never approve of them being togethe
Rain cried until she passed out from exhaustion. She fell into a deep sleep on one of the lounge chairs. When she opened her eyes, Tony was sitting on the ground beside her. He must have been there for a while because he was fast asleep. She slowly sat up and he opened his eyes, sitting up to look at her. “Why are you here?” She asked sadly, exhaustion in her voice. “I’m sorry Rain,” he apologized. “You don’t owe me anything.” She said emotionless. “It doesn’t change that I hurt you.” He told her sympathetically. Their eyes locked, but Rain forced herself to look away from him. She stood up and fixed her clothes. “Just stay away from me. It’ll make it easier for the both of us,” she told him. “You can’t hurt people I sleep with because you’re angry with me,” he told her. “I’ll do whatever the fuck I please. Who’s going to stop me? You?” Rain said coldly and she could see fear in his eyes. “I only fucked around with Mya because I wanted to forget you. I wasn’t thinking
