Kayla

I was finally done for the day. Damien had left the office early, which gave me some room to breathe. I headed downstairs to the lobby, where I spotted Joan and Cameron waiting by the glass doors.

"How was the rest of your day in the dragon's lair?" Cameron asked. He tilted his head, studying me. "The rest of the office calmed down a while ago. Seriously, what was wrong with him?"

"He was just in a bad mood," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "The usual Blackwood temper."

KaylaWhen I opened my eyes, Damien wasn't on the bed. I heard some movement in the kitchen. Great. I walked into the bathroom and stared at my reflection in the mirror. I had a severe case of bed hair. I brushed my teeth, oil pulled, used mouthwash and washed my face. When I was done, I brushed my hair thoroughly. My heart was beating so fast I was sure it was going to jump out of my chest. This wasn't the first time I was waking up to Damien being in the same house as I was, but for some reason I couldn't put my thoughts in check. I walked into the kitchen. "Good morning," Damien said concentrating on what he was doing. "Breakfast?" He asked, turning back. His eyes lingered on me for a moment. I nodded, "Yes, thank you."I poured myself a cup of coffee, watching him work. He was frying some sausages for a full English breakfast. Something about him acting domestic was so attractive.I leaned against the cool marble of the island, clutching my coffee mug. The room was quiet ex

Kayla "Leave," I said, my voice steadier than I felt. "I want to change.""I want to watch," he countered.I let out a short, nervous laugh, waiting for the punchline. But his face didn't move. That confident smirk stayed exactly where it was. My heart skipped a beat. "You’re not joking, are you?""I’m not," he said.Something reckless took over me. I let my dress slip, the fabric pooling at my feet. I didn't stay to talk. I turned and walked toward the bathroom, making sure to put a little extra sway in my hips. I knew he was watching. I could feel his eyes on my ass, which was barely covered by my lace underwear.I glanced back once. He was staring like I was the only meal he’d seen in years. My eyes dropped, catching the heavy bulge in his pants. A sharp throb pulsed between my legs."Stop drooling," I told him, trying to sound bored."I wouldn't," he rasped. "Not if my mouth was busy, Kayla. Reconsider my offer."I ducked into the bathroom and shut the door, my skin tingling. Kay

Kayla"I ordered some food," Damien said as we walked toward the private elevator. "Just in case we get hungry after drinking."I tilted my head, stopping in my tracks. "Drinking?"He nodded looking at me with this boyish glint in his eye. "Yes, drinking. We need to celebrate this win, Kayla.""You’re really happy, aren't you?" I asked. "I must have conjured a miracle back there.""You have no idea," he said, hitting the button for the elevator. The doors were mirrored chrome. Through the reflection, I could see his eyes traveling down, openly taking in the curves of my dress. He wasn't even trying to hide it."Stop," I said, my voice sharper than I intended. "I don't think I’m comfortable staying in the same house as you tonight."He smirked, that arrogant, playful look returning to his face. "Why? Because you can’t control yourself?"I scoffed, rolling my eyes at the ceiling. "Far from it, Damien."The elevator doors slid open with a soft chime, and we stepped inside. The ride up wa

KaylaOnce we were far enough away from the mansion, the tension finally snapped. Damien suddenly grabbed me, picked me up, and spun me around. He was actually laughing."You were amazing in there!" he said, finally setting me back on my feet."You really think so?" I asked, smoothing out my dress. He nodded enthusiastically. "My grandfather loves you. He’s completely convinced that we’re real."My heart sank. That one word—real—hit me hard. For a second, I had forgotten this was all a show. I had to quickly remind myself that none of this was actually happening."What’s wrong?" Damien asked, the smile fading as he saw my face."Nothing," I lied, looking away."It's not nothing," he insisted, stepping closer. "What's wrong, Kayla? I know when something is bothering you."I threw my hands up in the air. "Sadie! She paid those guys? The ones who attacked me?"Damien’s shoulders slumped. "You heard her?""Well, she made sure I did.""I can't believe she would do something so... malicious

Kayla"I think it’s time we start eating," Elena said, trying to break the tension.Valerie nodded. As the staff began serving the food, she turned to me with a polite smile. "So, Kayla, tell us about your family. What do they do?""My mother stays at home," I said, keeping my voice steady. "And my dad owns two small grocery stores."Sadie let out a sharp, nasty laugh. "Of course your mother stays at home. Figures."My blood started to boil. Damien’s grip on my thigh tightened under the table. He squeezed hard, warning me to stay calm. But I was done being quiet."As I recall, your mother stays at home too, Sadie," I said, leaning forward. "They could almost be twins. Except my mom had a kidney condition that grounded her. At least she had an excuse for doing nothing."The table went dead silent. Sadie looked like she wanted to reach across the table and strangle me. Her mother, Hilda, sat perfectly still, staring daggers at her own daughter for being humiliated. The silence was broke

  • Loathe by the Billionaire    Chapter 56

KaylaWe sat at a huge table. It looked like it cost a fortune and weighed even more. Sadie sat next to Damien, while Harold took a spot at the head of the table. Damien’s parents sat right next to him. There was brooding looking man sat next to Damien's parents. Next to then was Damien's Uncle Marcus; the one with the spoilt twin sons who hadn't stopped checking me out since I walked in. Then a lady was right beside him. Immediately my eyes meet hers, she looked at me with a nasty smirk and opened her mouth. "So, I hear you’re Damien’s secretary," she said loudly. "Fucking the boss... how crude." That must be Sadie's mother, Hilda. The air left my lungs. It felt like I’d been punched in the stomach.I felt Damien’s hand on my thigh. He used his thumb to draw slow circles that seemed to calm my nerves. "She’s not my secretary," Damien said. "She's an executive assistant."The woman swirled her drink in her hand a lifted it ceremoniously to her mouth, "Potato, potata."Damien sque
