Chapter 2

CHAPTER 2

The following day, the palace children took the bird to an elder in the palace, who began treating its wound. When Lorrelai learned about it. She summoned the man who was aiding the children to treat their supposed pet. "Show me the pet". The man hastily brought the helpless bird to her. She grinned mysteriously, "you may leave". He left as fast as possible; she was feared because she was hot-tempered and did not find anything wrong in sending anyone to death anytime and anywhere. An account was when she reaped out a man's heart for delaying her errand. She took the bird to her dark room and slaughtered it. "Bloody witch!"

The witches had their meeting at night and wailed about Hecate's death. "Woe betide the queen, for she has hurt us." They chanted a sorrowful song for Hecate's demise. They then sat down to discuss. "Oh leader, what do you have to say about the massacre of witches and humans alike in the market yesterday on the order of the king?" She nodded her head in annoyance, "we do not have much patience. We must retaliate. This is my 70th anniversary in this land and I have not seen such a sight close to me ever before. " By now, we have outnumbered them.

We can pay them back tomorrow" suggested Chimera. "Oh! How come this did not occur to us? I think I know why the king suddenly changed. We have outnumbered them and they fear that we would soon take over the land" Althea suggested.  They all nodded at the idea. "You are correct, my sister". The following day, the witches got themself armed with their swords. They stormed the market that day and avenged their deaths. They killed werewolves roughly twice the number they lost. The king at this time was fuming in anger. He ordered Ronnet to wipe off the witches. This marked the beginning of the first clash between werewolves and witches.

The werewolves huddled up in their armor. They matched up to the field of blood. The witches who were armed to the teeth devised a war strategy that was coupled with spiritual harm from a distance. The army led by Ronnet galloped on their horses through the field. The witches are female warriors led by Althea, the healer. She strategized that the witches all hid in the trees while she alone matched towards them on her foot. About 50 meters away, she began to fire her poisoned silver head arrow at them. The werewolves died instantly as the arrows pierced through them.

The werewolves got furious and they transformed in anger, but they were disappointed seeing that it was only one person they would gather against. Ronnet was confused, but he urged his soldiers to get her and tear her into pieces. Within seconds the werewolves already chased Althea into the middle of the field. Just then Althea whistled and the werewolves found themselves in the middle of a fire. The warrior witches began firing the poisoned silver arrow at them from every angle. Ronnet, seeing what was happening around him, jumped out of them. She began shaking the trees violently.

He saw how they fell and hurt on the floor. He then called a group of werewolves to shake the trees while another group trample on the falling witches. As he screamed, his soldiers kept dying. Althea was in the middle of werewolves fighting when he saw Ronnet shaking the trees. She removed an arrow and aimed at him but she was violently hit from behind. This sent her crashing to the ground. She groaned in pain. As the werewolf tried to trample on her, Chimera saw him and immediately shot him in the head. He fell dead at once. "Shoot him!" Althea ordered her pointing to Ronnet who was fiercely killing the witches and making the trees unsafe for their hiding.

Chimera aimed at his head. One of the werewolves who saw what was about to happen howled to warn him, but by the time he looked, it was too late as the arrow was almost landing on his head. Ronnet, the great, let out his last cry. Everyone rose to watch the greatest warrior of the city fall. Some of the witches felt empty seeing the person who used to fight to protect them and the land get killed by them. As he landed on the floor, the werewolves lost the morale to continue, while the witches intensified their attack. The werewolves were forced to flee. It was a great victory for the witches that day.

The whole creatures in the city, including the humans that worked in the palace, were in support of them of course except the werewolf creatures.

After the war, the king was deeply hurt by its outcome. He knew there was trouble in the kingdom as his noblest of men had been killed. Every werewolf was in their human form as they gathered alongside other creatures that loved Ronnet gathered to mourn his demise. The king swore to avenge Ronnet. He however lost the manpower to see that come true. In the past, he recruited both witches and werewolf soldiers to fight against enemy towns and vampires who attacked the city. So, they were known for their invincibility and they were feared.

With the death of the army commander in an internal crisis and the division among them, they would be vulnerable to an external attack. For this, the king summoned the witches' noble persons for a treaty. They agreed on no bloodshed from either party henceforth and that they went back to the united people the outsiders saw which earned them their honor and place.

The witches accepted the agreement and celebrated their victories. Both humans and witches praised Althea for leading a successful fight. Adelinda gave her the title of not only the healer but the great.

Ann was an averagely rich single lady who lived in Boerne too. She was originally from Terrell Hills but relocated since the city was the most peaceful place to live at that time. Her world was falling apart before she got Avince.
