Chapter 1: Welcome to the Academy!

Astraea POV

I was walking down the hallway, heading towards the Headmistress’ office, when I noticed everyone staring at me.

“She’s the new girl.”

“Why is she wearing a mask? She’s weird.”

“What kingdom is she from?”

I shook my head and rolled my eyes. I didn’t have time for this. If Gideon hadn’t warned me about this, ugh.

Almost every student I passed looked at me, but I ignored them and kept walking. When I reached the Headmistress’ office, I didn’t even bother knocking. I pushed the door open.

Inside, I saw what looked like other students from the Academy. Their attention immediately shifted to me. They were facing a lady who I assumed was the Headmistress. I gave them a sweet smile, then turned to the lady who was smiling like crazy at me. I cringed at that

“You must be the new student,” she said.

“Obviously,” I chuckled. “Is there anyone else new here?”

I almost rolled my eyes. “Yes, I want to enroll.”

She smiled at me, “I am Wendal Everdeen, CA’s Headmistress.” I just nodded.

Everyone froze, like they couldn’t believe my attitude. I raised an eyebrow, looking at them. They were looking at me with amusement.

“What’s wrong with them?” I wondered.

“Do you even know who we are?” A girl with grey eyes and hair, pretty but not as pretty as me, asked, her eyebrow raised.

“I don’t,” I said.

“What?! What kingdom are you from? You don’t even know us?!” Before she could finish, Headmistress Wendal cut her off.

“Princess Yvy.” The Headmistress said in a warning tone.

Princess, huh? Was that why they were acting like this? Were they expecting me to bow to them? No way. Why would I have to do that? I would never. They should.

“Please introduce yourself, hija,” the Headmistress said to me.

If only they knew.

“I am Astraea Soem,” I said, keeping my real identity a secret. “Seventeen years old, my power is ice, I’m from the land of dawn, Cadieus.”

The Headmistress smiled, her expression unreadable, unlike the shocked faces of the royalties. Their jaws dropped.

After explaining the academy’s rules, the Headmistress said I would be sharing a dorm room with the royalties. Yvy, the jerk, complained, but she couldn’t do anything about it. As if I wanted to be around them. Humph!

When we arrived at their unit—well, my unit now—I realized it wasn’t just any ordinary dorm. Unlike the other dorms, ours was bigger and had nicer furniture. The four female royalties went in first, then me, and the three guys came last. I slowly walked in and looked around.

Wow.

This place was expensive.

The first thing I noticed was the huge living room. There were five bedrooms, each with a different door design. When I looked up at the second floor, I saw a chandelier and five more doors, each with a different design like the ones downstairs. Just wow! This could be my chamber.

“Welcome to our unit, Astraea.” The girl with white hair and blue eyes smiled at me. The others smiled too, but Yvy just rolled her eyes. What was wrong with her?

I smiled back. “Yes, thank you.” I then looked at Yvy, almost rolling my eyes, but I stopped myself and gave her a sarcastic smile. I looked at the guy next to her. He had been talking with his friends, but I hadn’t seen or heard him join in.

I froze when he looked at me. My heart skipped a beat. His eyes were intense and serious. My chest pounded for no reason. My cheeks flushed, and I quickly looked away. I didn’t know why, but I suddenly felt nervous and bothered.

I was surprised when two girls pulled me by my arms. I was about to push them away when the girl with white hair spoke again. How could they be so touchy? Gosh!

“I’m Venus, princess of Amien Kingdom, wind manipulator,” she said.

We all sat down on a long, round sofa.

The girl holding my left arm, with brown eyes and long, curly green hair, spoke next.

“I’m Celestina, princess of Fleur Kingdom, I can manipulate nature’s power.”

“Hi, I’m Angel Sent, princess of Sataria Kingdom, like you… I also have the power of snow,” she said softly. She was very polite. Her voice and features were soft and gentle, like her name. She really looked like an angel. Her eyes and long hair were both blue. It wasn’t surprising that we had the same power. Her mother, the queen of Sataria Kingdom, was a Cadieusian. And only Cadieusians could manipulate the power of ice.

“Tsk! I’m Yvy, princess of Creus Kingdom, my power is thunder.”

We glared at each other again. I hated her attitude. Did she think that being a princess gave her the power to rule over everyone? Don’t get ahead of yourself, you’re not the only princess here.

“I’m Klev, prince of Caius Kingdom, water manipulator.” The guy had blue eyes and wavy hair.

“I’m Kreo, prince of the Constello Kingdom, prince of light.” He winked at me. This guy was a playboy. He had white hair and yellow eyes.

If the two princes were good-looking, this guy was too much!

I looked at the guy who was sitting on the sofa, his eyes closed, his gaze fixed on the ceiling. He seemed indifferent, leaning back against the sofa. I waited for him to introduce himself like the others, but he didn’t.

The nerve of this guy.

I chuckled.

“Who are you?” I asked sarcastically. I waited for his answer, but he didn’t even open his eyes to look at me! I blushed in embarrassment. How rude.

I heard a mocking laugh from somewhere.

What was so funny? I irritably looked at Kreo. He coughed to stop laughing and pretended to smile at me.

Were they making fun of me?

I pursed my lips to stop myself from getting angry.

“A-Astraea… He’s the prince of Devoc Empire, Prince of darkness,” Angel said softly, her cheeks turning red.

What?!

So he was the strongest among the royalties?!

Oh, shit!

“Haze Tevan Devoc, the crown prince of Caelum World.”

I couldn’t believe it. This was going to be a long year.
