Chapter 3: Dreams

last update Last Updated: 2021-07-22 20:41:27

She was able to catch up with Jane and she was glad that she did not have any issues with her during the last three years she has seemed to have lost. She is just staying scooped up in Taylor’s apartment and not wanting to go out, afraid someone might call her again with a different name. There were still times that she felt like she had dissociated from the world as she sometimes cannot tell what is happening but those were just little moments. Not a big deal.

Her throat hurts, she is silently trying to wipe her eyes as she stares ahead. She has been trying to keep the tears from flowing down her cheeks when a finger pokes her nose. She wiped her nose and sniffled lightly before throwing a pillow at the man on the floor. Apparently,

“Why do you always pick this when you always end up crying?” he said laughing at her. He sat on the floor and drank his beer.

“Why do you always pick the best time to ruin the mood?” She asked him, and she took a big scoop of ice cream. She suspiciously looked at her friend. “I have been meaning to ask, why do I not see you calling anyone?”

“Hmm, are you waiting for me to call Jane?”

“Nope, not Jane, I mean a girlfriend.”

“Sorry to disappoint you, Kei, but I have none at the moment.” He answered while scratching his ears.

“So, what would you like to do tomorrow?” He suddenly asked, excitement can be seen on his face.

“What should we do, is there anything special?” surprised at his question, she started to think that maybe she had missed something.

“Well, it’s Saturday, let’s go somewhere else, I was able to get a leave on Monday and we could go out-of-town if you want to.”

“That sounds great, do you have any place to go?” She asked, getting excited at the idea of having to go out again and just have fun.

Taylor looked at the screen of the movie after hearing what she had said.

“That we don’t, but we’ll still go for a trip tomorrow morning so you better get your ass in the bed and get a goodnight sleep.” He said not looking at me.

She sat on the floor beside him and gave him the look.

“What?”

She did not say anything but just kept looking at him as if trying to read his mind.

“You are having dirty thoughts about me, Kei.” he teased.

“The hell I am.” she said before slapping his arm and turned around to go to her bedroom.

Taylor’s got a one-bedroom apartment and she has been sleeping in his bed while he stays on the couch. She’s really lucky to have such a good friend and she knows he is just waiting for her to tell him more about what’s happening with her and why she suddenly wanted to stay with him.

She could hear her people having fun around her, they were laughing and teasing while she was in the pool. She’s just enjoying the sun, she wanted to have a tan if just a bit to mark this summer season.

She wouldn’t want to have this out-of-town trip without having something that would remind it of her. Although she has pictures, a lot of them actually but she wants to look a bit different than her usual self.

She has been too busy with herself and all the other things around her and she wanted to make sure that there wouldn’t be any regrets with the decision she had made. They were able to exceed their target goal and they are out for a celebration.

“Kaia,” she could hear people calling someone.

“It’s time for our game, don’t you think?” she heard another ask again. She just ignores them, they walk away and she is again left with peacefulness, or so she thought.

“We should not get behind the schedule, dear, we ought to go somewhere tonight and the team just wants everything to be done before the day ends.” someone started talking beside her float which she ignored again. “Kaia,” this time whoever was speaking beside her took off her sunglasses and gave her a look which surprised her.

She stood up annoyed and was surprised when she saw Taylor beside her.

“I thought I would have to give you a charming prince kiss before you wake up,” he teased before giving her a tap on the head.

She looked around her, surprised and was trying to think about what she was about to do before she woke up.

“Get ready, Kei” she heard Taylor, her tummy rumble when she smelled the butter cooking. “I want to leave before the sun rises, I’ve got a place in mind.” He excitedly told her when she went out the door of her room.

“Good to hear that, I wouldn’t want to be on the road without any concrete plans.” she mumbled before picking up something from the table.

“Well, we still have an hour to get ready and have some breakfast, so get your ass in the bathroom and take a shower, you smell like bed.”

“Look who’s talking, I could still smell the beer from here.” she countered before going to the bathroom.

She enjoyed being in the tub, she didn’t know this is how she missed being soaked in the water. Once again, she had dissociated, she took a long time in the tub and she loved the bubbles and the smell of vanilla really makes her feel good. She didn’t know how long has she been in the bathroom but she was surprised to hear Taylor banging the door

“Keanna?”

“Yeah!” She shouted as well.

“Would you like me to just join you there?”

“You wish, Taylor?”

“Well, you’ve been there for almost an hour, I thought you’ve changed your mind.” She was really shocked to know that it has been an hour, almost since she started bathing .

They went first to visit the flower farm and enjoyed picture taking, then the berry farm where they also received some discounts since the staff thought they were here for the honeymoon. She actually doesn’t know what they see in them that makes them think they are a couple. They have been friends for a long time and doing things for each other is nothing to think about.

“Mrs. Drumfeeld, would like to get the offer we currently have at the spa for you and your husband?” a staff member asked her while she was checking out some of their products.

Taylor has been calling her Mrs. Drumfeeld after that incident and they have been getting a lot of congratulatory remarks from the people in the area. Apparently, people here are so closely acquainted with each other that in just a few hours, other people already know that they are couples who are enjoying their honeymoon.

“Mrs. Drumfeeld?” Asked the staff again.

“Uh, yes, that will be great, thank you.” She responded, smiling at her. She’s sure, Taylor would love to have a good massage before they go back and he starts working again. Which means she also needs to go start looking for answers to her questions.

She definitely has a lot of puzzles to put together and see where this will get her. She was at the counter when she received a call from Taylor.

“Yes,” she answered quietly, looking around her to make sure no one is disturbed by the phone call.

“Do you mind walking back to the inn by yourself?” She heard a muffling echo sound, his voice sounded so uncomfortable that he was in some sort of pain.

“Are you okay?”

“Ye-- yeeess,”

“What the, you are so gross Taylor Drumfeeld!” She said quietly, almost laughing to herself when she heard the toilet flushing afterwards.

“What? I can’t help it anymore, my stomach hurts so much, I must have eaten something that my tummy hates. Ah, oh my, just get your butt here and bring me some electroh----lytes.” He was speaking so low and almost felt like he’s eating his words. I could almost imagine how he is doing right at this very moment.

“Okay, okay, just hang in there, you dirty little man,” she quietly said before hanging up the phone.

She turned to the staff member whom she was talking to before the call.

“Uhm, what time can we have our appointment?”

She typed something on her desktop and smiled at me. “Is five o’clock today okay?”

She looked at her watch and it’s only 11 in the morning. “That sounds good. Thank you so much and see you later.” She hurriedly said remembering Taylor’s pain.

She was walking down the road to their inn when she saw a couple who looked familiar. She tried to rack her brain but she could not find a name or any instances she must have seen that couple. She hurriedly went to their room and she heard some movement in the restroom. She knocked on the door.

“T, are you okay?”

“Uhm, ye-yeah,”

“Can I come inside and give you these meds?” she worriedly asked, not thinking about their differences anymore.

“Give me a sec, Kei, I think I can go out now, in a bit I mean.”

“Okay, just let me know if you need me to give it to you, alright?” She walked to the bed and patiently waited for him.

It did not take long before Taylor went out and took the meds. She let him sleep since he looked like he ran a mile. Noting to herself that she will wake him up before five so they will be in time for their massage appointment.

She was to answer him when her stomach rumbled. “I bet your stomach is not good.” he said smiling but not looking at her. Her face flushed in embarrassment, then she dissociated.
