LOGINEve’s POV
“How the hell did this happen!?” I said over the loud noise. I lost it when I got there. The fire was bigger than I thought.
“We have no idea Mrs Eve but the fire fighters are trying their best to take it out.” The branch manager Andrew tells me.
My knees felt weak.
“Are there still any staff or clients in there?” I asked almost immediately.
“Im.. I’m not sure Ma, we...” He was still talking.
“What do you mean?” I cut him short.
How can they focus more on taking out the fire than on rescuing the people in the building.
There were so many reports all over the place but I couldn’t hold myself back.
I won’t live with myself if anyone was to get injured or lose their life in this outbreak. Plus, it’s not going to give us a good name out there, knowing that we put the needs of our hotel above the staff or clients or any human at all.
“Get me a turnout coat!” I was going to do whatever it takes to protect those people and my hotel.
“Eve please calm down.” Mark tried to talk me out of it.
“No mark.” My voice broke.
“There were people in there, if anything happened to them…” I choked on my own words. My emotions got the best of me.
He didn’t need me to say anything further and in less than a second instead of one turnover coat Mark came with two.
I gave him a knowing look.
“Thank you.” He read my lips.
We suited up immediately and gave a helping hand to the fire fighter by assisting them in rescuing the people in the building while the others tried to put out the fire.
“Please put on your oxygen mass.” I said to the last lady I brought out of the building. Thankfully no one was badly hurt and I made sure they double checked in case we missed anyone.
A better part of the hotel was totally lost to the outbreak but I saw that coming. It was already a burning building; there was no reason to lose anyone over it.
“What do we do now Eve?” Marks stood right next to me as I looked at the damaged properties.
“I have no idea Mark... I have no idea.” I sighed heavily.
“For now let’s make sure every affected person gets proper medication.” I told him.
“Excuse me.” I added. I walked down to where the head of the fire fighters was.
“Thank you for your work.” I had a handshake with the head of the fire fighters.
He nodded.
“Do you have any idea what must have caused the outbreak?” I could finally settle my curiosity.
This is one hell of an outbreak. I wonder what must have caused it. We make use of the best materials and there is daily maintenance for every of our hotels.
From the technology, to the electrical and the kitchen. There is no way something must have been damaged and the maintained team didn’t see it or less they haven’t been doing their jobs properly.
“I’m sorry ma, but we couldn’t detect what must have caused it but according to the staff the fire outbreak started from the electrical room which is badly damaged now.” He explained it to me.
I would have to get to the bottom of it, starting my investigation from the branch manager and the head of the maintenance department along with his team.
My phone began to vibrate. It was my father.
“Thank you for your time, please excuse me.” I walked to the side to answer his call.
“Hello dad, you must have seen the news.” It was all over the city already and with the amount of reporters here I didn’t expect anything less.
“Are you ok Eve I saw you entering the building on the news.” He sounded really worried.
“Yes dad, I'm fine and you have nothing to worry about. I will handle it.” I assured him.
“Ok child.” I could tell he felt relieved.
“I’ll talk to you later dad, love you.” I hung up. He was more worried about me than he is about the damaged hotel. Arthur has proven many times how much he cares about me and I will always appreciate him for that.
I walked down to meet with Mark.
“How many people are injured?” I asked him.
“About thirty people have minor injuries and the rest are just still in shock from the fire and were affected by the smoke as well.” He tells me.
“Ok Mark let’s make sure they get the necessary support. We don't want a lawsuit by morning.” A lot of people were affected. It's only right that we put things together quickly.
He nodded.
“And Mark..” I called him when he was about to leave.
“Organize a press conference in two hours.” I added. I will have to address the public and apologize to the affected persons.
He walked away after he signaled that he understood. I went ahead to prepare for the press conference. My clothes were dirty because of the amount of smoke and dust that came out from the outbreak.
I stopped by a nearby fashion store and picked up something to wear. I cleaned myself up and when I stood in front of the mirror I was sure I am ready to address the world.
“Good day All. I am Eve Craig, Director of Traspic hotel. I am sure most of you were present at my hotel today and saw how bad the outbreak was.
At TRASPIC hotel we make use of the best facilities and the best people to serve you all right but unfortunately it happens that we somehow must have put doubts in the hearts of our client and staff and we deeply apologize to the people that are hurt and the damages it must have caused.
We will support in the recovery of every single person and we promise to get to the root of the matter. Thank you.”
I slightly bow my head to the crowd.
“Mrs Eve!” I heard my name from several corners of the room. The place was full with reports and I am sure they came in with different questions in their minds.
I look over the crowd before picking someone to talk at random.
“Mrs Eve how do you intend to grow from your lost.” A reporter asked me. It was definitely going to cost millions to get it back together and running.
“As you know we have top companies and hotels in the city, the board and I would come up with a solution soon.” I had no intention of making that decision myself.
I had the intention of answering just two questions so I picked another reporter from the crowd.
“Mrs Eve rumors spread that you lied your way into Mr Arthur’s life and you don’t care about his businesses.
What?
I looked at the faces in the room and even if no one said anything, everyone’s faces agreed with the reporter.
Logan’s POV I had some late night work to do at the office since tomorrow myself, Emily and two faced will be having our first shoot for the brand opening. Maybe I was giving myself an excuse and I was trying to overwork myself just so I would not have to see two faced in my sleep. I was getting tired of it and for some reason the dreams were getting better. The other night I knocked myself out hoping it would work and it didn’t. I only ended up suffering from a hangover. I wanted to be alone, so I sent my secretary and assistant home. It was over work hours and the building was quieter than it normally is. I stood at the window side of my office. The view was excellent. It used to be my late brother's office. Even if most people say a CEO should be at a bigger office, I didn’t mind. I loved the place since it makes me feel close to Marcus and it happens to be the last place I saw him. The glass of Scotch in my hand tasted better than it has in a while. I had to think of the bes
Eve’s POV I came back from my morning run. It wasn’t something I did often but it feels good when I do. I somehow ran into Mark and we decided to grab coffee together since he said he has some information for me. It happens that the fire outbreak wasn’t from the electrical room as the fire fighters suspected, it was from the underground storage house which was directly under the electrical room and that was why when the fire came to the surface the electrical room was the first place that got affected. It all made more sense now. I was glad we were getting closer to the issue. We were done drinking our coffee and we were about to leave when I got a text from my dad. He wanted to see me. I haven’t been able to see him for a while and this was the best opportunity. I didn't hesitate to tell him I would be coming around for breakfast. Since it was my old home, and it’s still my home I didn’t mind going there in my gym clothes. “You’ve forgotten about your old man huh?” My dad pulle
Logan’s pov I saw the jar at the auction and I almost lost my mind or maybe it wasn't it, but I didn’t mind before spending a million dollars on it. It might just have been a normal jar to every other person, but to me it meant something special. It was the first gift I received from my late brother when we were still kids. We traveled down to the Asian region on a business trip with our parents. We went for a random street shopping but we ended up surprising each other with a gift and it happened to be the same extra jar. I remember how we laughed at each other’s taste and for the fact that we are in each other's minds. If men have a male soulmate I am sure he was mine. I walked up to the stage with Eve later on to give a quick speech before the actual partying began. The glam night might have been held for years and this is the second time I was attending it, but this time around because it was hosted by a friend. My gaze met with Eve’s. I must admit she looked really beau
Eve’s POV “Good day ladies and gentlemen, I welcome you all to the Tenth edition of The Glam Night.” The master of ceremonies announced as we were all seated. Everyone was dressed beautifully and the place was filled with beautiful colors matched together. After Logan came by my office earlier, I didn't ask any questions, I just followed him like he wanted. It was becoming a thing for our drives together to be quiet and awkward, and I was slowly getting used to it.Most husbands and wives would talk about how their day went and stuff going on, but with Logan I knew for sure I couldn’t do that. Thanks to Mark, the silence broke for a while when I received a call from him. I picked up on the second ring with hopes to get good news, but unfortunately the investigation wasn’t getting anywhere yet. I told him to make sure they leave no stone unturned, and the Mark I know will go the extra mile if he has to, just to get to the bottom of it, and that is why I trusted him to handle thin
Eve’s POV “Good morning Eve this is the document you ask for.” Mark handed me a file as I made my way into the building. “Thank you Mark.” I sent him a small smile as we took huge steps together toward the conference room. I have a thing for being punctual. After having my dinner last night, I put a call through to Mark and asked him to compile some documents which I would be proposing to each member of the board. And a few minutes after I was done talking to Mark, Logan came home. At first it looked like he was going to pass by like I wasn’t there but then he stopped and he told me that we would be going to an event by evening today. It was an event where top big business figures would be, and I had to show up with him to give our marriage and businesses a good name and make us look responsible. Although our conversations may have been short and simple and only about business, I was glad he wasn't ghosting me after all. He told me that we would be going for an event today but
Eve's POV I hit my bed with a thud. It was a really long day. I decided to take a long bath while reading my favorite novel. After the press conference, I told Mark to set a meeting with the board of directors tomorrow. A flashback of how people looked at me when the reporter accused me of lying my way into becoming Mr Arthur's daughter sent a shiver down my spine. I refused to answer the question I was asked, and I ended the press conference not because I was afraid of what people would say or think, but because people will always believe what they want to. If I try to explain or defend myself it will only make me look guilty. Arthur gave me an opportunity and I will never take it for granted. I will never stop proving to myself or to him how grateful I am. I signed heavily. I soaked myself deeply into the bathtub that was filled with warm water ,and buried my head in the water for a while. It was peaceful. I was feeling better after having my long hot bath. My head and my m
