It was not a dream

“You?!” She yelled snatching her hands off him as she stood up immediately.

She stepped away from him dusting her hands against each other as she rolled her eyes at him.

“Please, help me” he muttered like life had been completely sucked out of him.

“And why should I?! Few hours ago, you didn’t exactly do the same for me!” She retorted, Jayden exhaled deeply as he looked up at her.

“Please,” he muttered out of breath, “Help me,”

She looked away from him slightly annoyed, contemplating on what to do, help him or not!.

For what he did to her yesterday she really wanted to leave him there on the road but at the same time, she couldn’t just leave him there like that.

She hesitated a little as her gaze finally returned to him, she moved closer to him and squatted in front of him again.

“Look, I cannot carry you, you’ll have to walk all the way by yourself!” She said to him sternly.

“How far away is your apartment?!” He asked.

“Like twenty minutes away,” she answered reluctantly and his eyes went wide open.

“Why not order a ride, I’m very weak!” He muttered, she raised her brows at him and hissed loudly.

“Look at you in your very helpless state still dishing out orders!”

“Well I would have ordered a ride if a certain person didn’t have me fired yesterday!” She retorted rolling her eyes at him.

“Look, I don’t have time to waste, are you coming along or you’ll seat here and wait for a ride!” She hissed.

“I’ll come along, I’ll come along,” he rushed as she helped him up from the floor.

“And remember you cannot die or faint in my house,” she muttered as they began to make their way to her house.

“If at anytime you feel like fainting or dying please let me know so I can’t throw you out!” She added and Jayden could only nod feebly, she almost laughed at his sudden display of humility and calmness.

Gabriella pushed the door to her apartment open and helped Jayden in, by now he was already leaning on to her for support, she saw how weak he was so she just let him.

She led him to her room and made him lie on the bed, his clothes were dirty and dusty but that was the least of her concerns for now.

She gently took out her first aid box and began to clean up his wounds, but his condition was actually more than first aid and he needed real medical attention.

“What to do, what to do!” She muttered to herself pacing the room as she tapped the back of her phone gently.

“I’m sorry for the inconveniences I’m causing,” Jayden muttered, she slowly turned to look at him through her side eyes raising the corner of her lips in a small snort.

“I know you have freedom of speech, but if you keep talking I might just throw you out of my house!” She replied calmly with a fake smile that barely touched her eyes, Jayden took his lips in his mouth immediately at her threat and held his lips tightly against each other.

“Much better!” She muttered as she turned away from him and looked down at her phone, after much deliberation she decided to call Jessica, she begged her to have her family doctor come over to their apartment, she didn’t quite explain what was going on, but after some minutes of trying to convince her she finally agreed.

Few hours later…

“Thankfully there’s no internal bleeding of any sort, but he has lost a lot of blood externally ” The doctor said to Gabriella, they were both standing by the side of the bed where he laid.

The doctor had already dressed his cut, did everything that had to be done and placed him on drips, now he’s fast asleep.

“No fractured bones or anything?!” She asked and he shook his head.

“Thankfully, nothing at all. So I’m just gonna write the list of drugs for you and supplement he needs to make him get better,”

“Oh, okay thank you so much doctor” Gabriella said with a small smile as she escorted him out.

“Make sure he eats regularly and use the medicine I prescribed also!” The doctor said as he walked into his car.

“Yes, yes sir” she replied as he ignited his car and zoomed of.

“What have I gotten myself into!” She muttered as she walked back into the house.

Later that Evening …..

“So this is the person that got you fired yesterday?!”

“Yes!”

“And you found him helpless on the street today?!”

“Yes!”

“And you brought him into our house?!”

“Yes!”

“He’s the one that you asked me to call the doctor for?!”

“Yes!”

“And you say you don’t know exactly what happened to him?!”

“Yes!”

“But he has been sleeping for the past six hours?!”

“Yes!”

Jessica sharply turned to face Gabriella, they were standing by the foot of the bed.

“Are you out of your mind Gab?!”

“You don’t know who he is and you brought him into our house?!”

“Plus with what he did to you yesterday, you are jobless all thanks to this guy”

“And now you decide to help him and spend your money on him?!”

“You even went to buy all these drugs for him?! I thought you said you did not have a lot of money?!” Jessica ranted exasperatedly.

“How do you manage to still help certain people after they’ve wronged you so bad!”

“Relax, he’s a rich guy, once he’s strong enough to stand probably by tomorrow, he’ll be on his way home, I’ll make sure he returns my money for the medicine “

“It’s just like a loan, you get?!”

“Just like a loan,” Jessica repeated with a sneer.

“Yes just like a loan,” Gabriella answered.

“I just hope he doesn’t cause his any trouble, it’s quite suspicious he has been sleeping in the same position for hours now,” Jessica muttered fearfully.

“What if he’s dead!” She whispered, leaning closer to Gabriella, Gabriella pushed her off gently as she turned to look at her.

“Don’t say such things, he can’t be dead!”

“If he’s not dead then why is he just lying straight like a log of wood, no turning, no stirring, no nothing for six hours!” Jessica replied.

“I don’t know, not everybody sleeps with their legs all over the place like you!” Gabriella replied.

“Oh wow, now you’re shading me!” Jessica snorted turning to look at her.

“What?! Me?! No?! Shading?! Did you see Colour pencil with me?! How can I be shading you!” She replied with a small chuckle and Jessica rolled her eyes.

“Besides we have an agreement, he can’t even think of dying!” Gabriella added.

“Agreement?!”

“Yes! To not die in my house!”

Jessica bursted out laughing as she turned to look at Gabriella, the serious expression on her face made it even funnier.

“You had an agreement not to die, oh wonderful!” She muttered as they both turned back to look at Jayden.

Suddenly, his brows knotted and he stirred a little, he stretched out his hands and his eyes slowly fluttered open before closing on its own again.

“Look, he’s coming awake!” Gabriella said and they both rushed towards him.

He stretched out his legs again and his eyes fluttered open, he turned his head weakly to face Gabriella.

“Get me, A White Mocha Frappuccino, make it with a lot of shots of espresso please!” He muttered as he struggled to sit up, Jessica and Gabriella exchanged an amused look at his very command-like tone.

“God, I just had the weirdest dream!” He muttered to himself as he placed his head in his palm, he noticed the person in front of him wasn’t making a move to get him what he just asked for and a certain kind of irritation erupted in the pit of his stomach.

“Didn’t you just hear me?!” He growled as he removed his palm from his face.

“I said get me ….” He stopped himself from completing his statement as his eyes met with Gabriella’s big eye balls shining down on him initimidatingly, every detail of her facial expression and most importantly the deadly glare she sent his way was enough to reset his brain and the reality of his environment.

“Oh shit, it was not a dream!” He muttered to himself as he slowly slid back into the bed and raised the duvet over his head.
