Vanessa's heart raced as she waited for him to say the words every girl dreams of hearing.

Then he finally said what he was thinking. “Vanessa, would you like to move in with me?”

“Move in with you? Is that the question you wanted to ask me?”

Marcus immediately saw the disappointment in her eyes. He knew he had screwed up. He knew Denver would never ask a girl that sort of thing.

“Uhm, I didn’t mean it the way you're taking it.”

“Well, how did you mean it?”

Marcus' heart hammered with fear.

Marcus didn't want her to remember their last time together, which was filled with lust. He realized that this wasn’t even about making her forget Denver, but he wanted her to remember Marcus. He wanted to be different, start anew, forgetting the old Marcus. Marcus realizes he is competing with the man he used to be.His hands curled around her hips, drawing a gasp from her as he tugged her against him. “That’s no, Last chance…” She didn’t say no. She didn’t say anything as she continued to look up at him with an intrigued and impressed look in her eyes. And then Vanessa's hands landed on his bare chest, and he realized she was bringing him closer, not pushing him away. He lowered his head and moved slowly, giving her time to say no at any point. She didn’t. His lips landed on hers, and the impact was nothing short of electrifying. Marcus told himself it was because it had been so long since he’d done this, but he suspected that wasn’t entirely the case. It was her again, the sweet

Fear of ruining the night, the vacation, and of losing her to Denver again. So he quickly tried to repair the damage. “What I was trying to say is, would you move in with me as my wife?” “Are you trying to propose to me?” “Yes, I’m so nervous my words are getting all jumbled up.”“That's so sweet. Of course, one day I would, it would give me something to look forward to." His scent was very enticing; her eyes followed his long, lean frame and well-defined waist to his broad shoulders. Denve

The minute they entered the island club. The beautiful young lady Marcus took to the club and went to the dance floor. He followed behind her carefully. Marcus's eyes roamed over Vanessa's soft curves and full, rounded tush. She guided Marcus to the center of the dance floor when she turned to face him; her electric eyes made him motionless. She begins to dance subtly to the rhythm of the song. It was as if his attentive eyes set her ablaze. For the first time, Marcus was experiencing something very unusual: he was finding it difficult to dance. She wasn't just dancing her body, in any motion; he could see she really knew how to dance.Marcus seemed to be in a trance; his eyes fixed on the glow of her skin and the movement of her body. • Love, Lies, and I Do   56 -What the Future Holds

Denver’s voice carried through the living room, calm but determined. “Here’s what I have in mind for us,” he began, his gaze lingering on India, then shifting to his parents. “India and I want a future together—one that’s happy, stable, and not weighed down by all this tension.”India squeezed his hand, drawing strength from the simple gesture. She could feel Sharon’s eyes on her, searching, hoping for some hint of what was to come. India took a breath, determined to bring some clarity.“I want to say this clearly,” India said, “I’m not pregnant. Not yet.”The room shifted. Sharon’s shoulders relaxed, visibly relieved. But the undercurrent of anxiety remained, a subtle tremor in the air. India continued, her voice gentle but firm. “Honestly, with all this division in the family, it wouldn’t be the right time to bring a child into the world.”That landed like a pebble in a pond, rippling outward. Sharon’s brow furrowed. “Are you saying this is our fault?”India met her gaze. “No one’s

Denver paused outside his parents’ front door, keys in hand, heart thumping with an anxious rhythm he hadn’t felt since high school. The autumn air was crisp, carrying the familiar scent of leaves and distant barbecue smoke, but it did little to settle his nerves. He glanced at India beside him. She offered a reassuring smile, but he could see the tension tucked at the corners of her mouth—the same tightness that had shadowed their days since that bruising Sunday dinner. He took her hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. “Ready?” he asked, trying to infuse some lightness into his tone.“Ready as I’ll ever be,” she replied, her eyes shining with a mixture of hope and resignation. “Let’s do this.”The door swung open before Denver could knock. His mother stood there, hair pulled back into a tidy bun, lips pressed together in a tight line. She glanced at their intertwined hands, then stepped aside to let them in.“Hi, Mom,” Denver said, forcing a smile.“Hello, Denver. India,” Mrs. Kincaid r

India had to admit, it wasn't that Denver made it terribly uncomfortable for her. While getting undressed, Denver kept telling himself. “The word power means to be strong. Willpower, on the other hand, means to be determined, to control your inner desires and cravings.
