Kevin spoke too casually, as if, if he said I didn't need to see Alvin, I wouldn't see him.

Perhaps my eyes betrayed my inner apprehension. "The Li family does not cover the sky with one hand, and Alvin is not omnipotent," he said with a light laugh.
