Marcus's POV

Two days ago (≈ Two weeks back in the Iron Age time)

It was one of my worst nightmares to see Allena paying the price for my past with Laelia. I wasn't willing to admit this to Allena, but I was terrified of Laelia's strength and wrath. I wanted to end my relationship with her the day I kissed Allena. I never felt anything like that with Laelia before, and I somehow knew then that Allena and I were meant to be.

I fought the urge to kill Tulio the very next moment when I saw him touch Allena, but I didn't want to attract Laelia's attention about falling for Allena. And then, like a fool, I got emotional and blurted it out in front of Laelia and the rest of my family when I panicked that she was going to go back that night with her parents. I should have been more careful with Laelia, especially after she had attacked us on our way home from the fortress.
