Chapter 30 (part 1)

William stared with contempt at the man sitting behind the desk in front of them. His affected manner got on his nerves. Everything about him was studied in detail so that he could appear as friendly as possible. But he knew it was all an act.

He could see behind the gold glasses a certain nervousness in his gaze. Although William did not fully understand the conversation he was having with Wĕi Qí, he could sense that Kan Te was unwilling to cooperate and was purposely deflecting from the man's questions at his side.

After yet another evasive answer, William turned to look at Wĕi Qí. Every trace of patience had left his handsome face. Everything about his posture and the tone of his voice indicated a growing hostility towards the questioner. Even his magnetic eyes no longer showed an ounce of human warmth.
