Mr. Sebastian Felix sat in the backseat of a Rolls Royce with one leg crossed over the other, speaking to a client on the phone.

“Mr. Daniel, let’s make this deal sixty-forty. Anything other than that won’t work for me, please. I’m looking forward to seeing your reply,” he ended the call with a sharp click.

The Rolls Royce pulled in front of the glass skyscraper of Sebastian Enterprises. Before the driver could park properly, the backseat door swung open. Mr. Felix, the CEO of Sebastian Enterprises — a billionaire and a man of power — stepped out of the car.

Elena, his 26-year-old, beautiful, and ever-efficient assistant, was already approaching with a tablet in one hand and two phones in the other, rattling off her boss’s day-to-day schedule.

“Sir, you have a board meeting by 10, followed by a call with the investors in Milan. The legal team needs your final approval on the acquisition deal by noon. Lunch is optional, but I doubt you’ll take it. Then at three, there’s a contract signing with—”

He didn’t react but nodded at the gardener — a man of older age — with a quick, “Morning.”

Elena continued speaking as they walked towards the private elevator that would carry both of them to the top floor — his domain.

“And dinner is scheduled to hold at Starling Restaurant. You’ll be meeting—”

Felix walked into his neatly arranged office, the scent of mixed flowers and air fresheners blending perfectly with the crisp morning air. He inhaled deeply, patted Elena lightly on the shoulder, and finally spoke.

“I’ve heard you, Elena. Bring the necessary documents, let me sign them first.”

Elena turned immediately to get the documents, but just as she reached the door, he called again.

“And Elena?”

“Yes, sir?”

“Get me my coffee.” His tone was calm, but there was something in it — as if he needed that coffee more than he was willing to admit.

He removed his suit, ready for his coffee and the business of the day.

The scent of his office reminded him of the days when his late wife used to arrange fresh Lillies in the house. The memory he always locked away but today it came rushing back. He straightened up, pushed his thoughts aside, ready for the business of the day.

Two minutes later, the aroma of rich coffee filled the room. He took a slow sip, letting it slide down his throat before grabbing his pen.

“About the dinner, the location is Starling Restaurant. You’ll be meeting—”

Before Elena could finish, Annabel barged into the office without knocking.

Annabel, a lady in her early twenties, was the company’s secretary. She had a dangerously curvy body that could make any man go insane. She was the complete package — everything a man could ever want in a woman.

“Good morning, sir,” she said with a sexy voice and seductive look.

“Good morning, Annabel. And how many times do I have to warn you to stop wearing these revealing outfits to the office? Imagine — your cleavages are in full display, yes I can see them quite well”he yelled.

She wasn’t even shocked. Instead, she walked seductively, the loud clicks of her expensive heels echoing across the room. Her hips swayed with every step as she approached her boss.

“You’re too handsome to be yelling,” she said with a smirk. “Do you even know how cute you look when you’re angry?”, “handsome guys don’t shout or yell at someone so keep your voice low babe”Her hand reached out to adjust his tie playfully.

From the corner of his eye, Felix noticed Elena’s expression shift. Her lips parted slightly, then she quickly schooled her features and grabbed her phone, pretending to receive a call.

“Hello? Yes, sir… No, sir, that wasn’t what we concluded…” She rushed out of the office, leaving Annabel and her boss alone.

Felix exhaled sharply and stepped back a little.

“You see, Annabel, what happened between us was a mistake. Get that into your head. You need to put an end to all of this if you don’t want to get sacked.”

But Annabel wasn’t moved. She stepped even closer and held him tight, her chest pressed against his.

“Felix, I love you. Don’t you get it?” She stepped back slightly and did a slow 360-turn like a model showing off on a runway. “I’m a hot babe — everything you need. Your wife is dead. I’m ready to move in as your new wife. I’ll be a stepmum to your son, Alex.”

Felix raised his hand, cutting her off. His voice was low, so no one nearby would hear.

“Annabel, leave my office. Now.”

She only stepped even closer.

“Wait. Are you seeing someone else? You think you can just replace me?” Her voice grew angry. “Don’t you dare! We’re meant to be together. If you marry anyone else, call me a bastard. Try me and see. You’ll really know who I am!”

Felix didn’t flinch. He simply said, “Annabel, I will date and marry whoever I choose. I don’t love you. You’re not my spec.”

Annabel let out a dry, cold laugh.

“Felix, try it. Marry someone else and you’ll see my true colors.” She moved even closer, trying to kiss him. He could smell her sweet perfume, and as much as it tempted him, he controlled himself.

“If you have nothing else to say, kindly get out,” he said, his voice firm but tired. “I’m not in the mood for your threats.”

Annabel’s voice softened. “Felix…” Her eyes locked onto his, her voice low, lips just inches from his. His fingers twitched. His mind wandered…

But then — a knock.

“Sir, it’s 10:15 already, and the board meeting will start anytime from now,” Elena called out.

Felix blinked and straightened up, adjusting his tie. “Oh yes, the board meeting I have a meeting to attend right now as you can see, it’s time already”

Annabel smirked, clearly annoyed by the interruption. She stepped back, fixed her outfit, and with one last sultry glance said, “See you later, my boss.”

She strutted out with a sexy catwalk, her soft, round ass swaying side to side, giving this great model’s catwalk.

Felix sighed, grabbed his phone, and put on his suit jacket, he brushed his hair and made sure he was looking okay for the meeting, he exhaled heavily and stepped out of the office.

What the hell just happened?

Outside, Elena waited.

“Mr. John from A&J Group is around for the meeting,” she said — then stumbled slightly.

“Ouch!” she winced.

Felix instinctively caught her arm. “You have to be more careful, Elena. I’ve heard you,” he said. “I really appreciate your good work and dedication. God bless you.”

Elena blinked in surprise and smiled. “Thank you, sir.”

As the elevator doors closed, he adjusted his cuff links, pushing away the heat still lingering in his veins.

  • Love against the rules    Chapter 28

The Uber slowed to a halt in front of the estate gate. Cecilia’s hands were still trembling as she wiped the tears from her face. Her heart hadn’t stopped pounding since that moment since James’s betrayal, that cruel smirk, that other girl’s words still echoing in her head like a curse. She glanced around, hoping to see Alex waiting where he had dropped her off earlier. But the spot was empty. No sign of him. “Madam, no one dey here o. Should I drive you in?” the driver asked, turning slightly. “Yes… yes, just drive me home,” she muttered. The car rolled into the estate, quiet streets sliding past her window like a blur. Every corner looked the same, every house calm too calm, as if the whole world was pretending not to notice her breaking apart inside. When they reached the gate of the compound, the security men opened it after a quick check. She thanked the driver faintly and stepped out. The Uber pulled away, leaving her standing there, small and heavy in her white gown, heels

  • Love against the rules    Chapter 27

Saturday morning arrived with a deceptive calmness. The sun poured gently through the glass panes, casting warm lines across the marble floors. Breakfast was served toast, scrambled eggs, and fresh juice the usual weekend peace that had been absent for weeks. Since Wednesday, no shadowy movements, no strange murmurs, no lurking fears. The house finally felt… normal. But peace in that household had a way of turning into a trap. Cecilia had been restless all morning. She spent almost an hour dressing up, her mirror becoming her silent accomplice. The short white gown clung to her in all the right places, the black heels adding that extra height she knew James adored. Her long human hair wig nearly swept her waist, and the faint shimmer of her makeup caught the soft bedroom light. She adjusted her golden wristwatch, fastened her chain, tapped her bracelet, and checked herself one last time twice turning around to catch her reflection from behind. “Perfect,” she whispered, even blowing

Friday evening settled over the estate like a thick, deceptive blanket of peace. The air was cooler than the previous nights, and for the first time in weeks, Felix found himself sitting outside with a glass of wine, the wind teasing the leaves while the night lamps hummed quietly. Three days of calm had done wonders for his spirit no shadowy figures darting past windows, no murmurs of strange noises, no cryptic threats sliding under doors. The compound was still guarded by officers at every corner, their presence now almost blending into the rhythm of the household.Detective Obasi’s car rolled into the driveway, headlights cutting through the dimness. Felix stood to greet him, already wearing a smile that looked almost foreign on his face after so many tense weeks.“Detective Obasi,” Felix began, extending a hand, “I want to use this medium to thank you and your officers for your support. For the past three to four days now, we haven’t noticed any suspicious movement no shadows, no

Monday started heavy — the kind of morning where even the birds outside sounded muted. Breakfast was eaten without a single spark of joy. Forks clicked against plates, coffee steamed, and nobody dared start a proper conversation. Cecilia passed Alex twice at the dining table, wearing a white short bum short and a black crop top. Her long hair fell freely down her shoulders, catching the soft morning light. Alex didn’t say a word — just scrolled his phone — but his eyes flickered once, briefly, before returning to the screen. By late morning, the sharp growl of a car engine broke the silence outside. Moments later, the doorbell rang, and Sandra went to open it. “Who are those?” Felix called from the study. Two familiar faces stepped in — Finn and Enzo, Alex’s longtime friends. “Alex! What’s up, bro?” Finn said loudly, pulling him into a quick, heavy handshake. “Man, you two,” Alex muttered, a small, reluctant smile tugging his lips. “You just stormed in like the FBI.” “Ha

  • Love against the rules    Chapter 24

Sunday mornings in the house had become a rare moment of calm, a fleeting breath in a week choked with unease and whispers. The air smelled faintly of fried eggs and freshly brewed tea. Felix sat in the living room with Florence beside him, their shoulders brushing lightly, a comfort they had learned to find in each other despite the storm that still brewed outside their gates. Cecilia sat opposite them, scrolling idly on her phone, while Alex lounged carelessly on the single chair, one arm draped over its edge. Sandra had rejoined her duties that morning whole and healthy now, her return adding a sense of normalcy they all secretly craved. “Movie time?” Felix had suggested after breakfast, trying to create an atmosphere less tense than the previous days. Soon, they were all in the living room, the television flickering to life. A film neither serious nor shallow it started off as harmless, drawing a few smiles, a few chuckles. Even Sandra, who usually avoided sitting for long when

Saturday evenings in the city carried their own mood: soft lights spilling from balconies, distant hums of traffic, and the quiet shuffle of people either settling in or preparing for a night out. Inside a modest living room, the clink of a wine glass broke the silence. “It’s been a while,” Sonia said as she set her glass down on the table, leaning back into the faded sofa. “How’s everything holding up?” Annabel managed a small smile, one that didn’t quite reach her eyes. “I thank God… I’m breathing.” Sonia’s gaze softened. “I’m sorry about the way boss fired you. But tell me, what really happened? What did you do?” Annabel sighed, her fingers tracing the rim of her own glass. “Sonia… all I can say is that Florence is the one behind all these, for real. And my God will judge her.” “Just calm down, babe, you hear? Hope you’re good at least?” Sonia asked, studying her closely. “I’m fine. I’ve been writing applications to different companies since that time, but they just promise t
