Chapter 1 : She woke up

She woke up with a headache.

She opened her eyes and saw the ceiling from her old room - the one she shared with Albert before their divorce.

She felt a pain from her lower body and immediately knew what happened, and she slowly turned her head, fearing that she's in an endless dream in the afterlife.

Is this the afterlife or was she reborn, she didn't know.

Her tears immediately flowed down when she saw him lying beside her, Albert Matthews, her once and forever love, and the man who swore to protect her from wind and rain -- who actually did, even after everything that happened to them.

This was the night before their divorce, she knew.

He got home from a social gathering with Jasmine and was brought home smelling like a woman's perfume and with lipstick stain on his collar.

They fought.

Heavily.

Jasmine called her before and told her that her husband is talking to several woman and seemed to be having a fly time with them while she's at their home, waiting for him. Jasmine told her that as her best friend, she couldn't bear to see her get treated this way and foolish her, trusted that woman better than her husband, hence, the fight.

She accused him of cheating and drunk him couldn't figure out her words aside from her tone of voice. He told her he loves her and wanted to hug her and comfort her of whatever she's dealing with but she pushed him off, causing him to become unbalanced and fall on the floor. Her heart thumped wildly when he didn't see him get up so she went to him and looked at his condition, only to be pulled down and kissed by the man.

She was mad and so was he, and somehow, the two of them found themselves in their marital bed, swearing at each other and fiercely fighting against each others clothes.

They did it four times before Albert finally pulled out of her and slept beside her, spooning her to his side and telling her that whatever she wanted to tell him, she should do it after they both calmed down in the morning.

In the end, she ended up asking him for divorce as soon as he opened his eyes.

Today was just like how it was back then when she was woken up by the pain between her legs and she turned to curse at the guy sleeping peacefully beside him and telling him that he ruined her and how much she thinks he's dirty out of all the man she met.

She didn't tell him anything, nor did she let him explain.

Her blind trust to Jasmine, whom she's known since gradeschool, and whom she's placed as her husband's secretary when the last one resigned, ruined the relationship she and her husband desperately tried to save, unbeknownst to her.

She tried to stop the choked sob that came out of her mouth when her eyes finally laid eyes on the man. The man looked perfect, with or without clothes, and it caused her headaches everywhere when people tell her how perfect her husband looks. Jasmine told her once that the reason why Albert doesn't take her to social gatherings was because he was ashamed to have her stand beside him, but she should have known better.

From the moment they met, Albert never once showed her that he opposed the arranged marriage set up by their parents when they were both in highschool. They were engaged from their senior year in highschool until he took over the family business, which was only R.E Industry back then, after he graduated from Business and Finance and she graduated in Economics in C University.

In the last life, she was married to him for three years and divorced for two. And in those three years, he managed to merge his company with her family's own company and made it known worldwide as the new R.E Group of Companies.

When she first found out about the change back then, Jasmine kept telling her that Albert only married her for gains, and he seldom went home because he didn't actually like her.

She cried for days yet she refused to come to him or call him to confirm. She has loved the man from the moment she met him, how could she purposely hurt herself by asking him things that her mind was sure of?

Her insecurities got better of her, another reason why she found her old-self so stupid. How could she not realize how difficult it is to raise a company to new heights on such short months the way Albert did.

And what bad timing that when he finally got home, she was already asleep so he hid the two tickets to Hawaii for the two of them in the dresser drawer and forgot about it. When she found it and wanted to confront him about it, Jasmine was already poisoning her mind with drugs and filling her mentality with thoughts of Albert cheating on her.

How ironic, that she found out all about it after her divorce, and by then, she thought, it didn't matter anymore as Albert obviously dislikes her now, as he didn't even come to see her when she asked Jasmine to tell him about her pregnancy with their child.

The child that was supposedly made today, at this very moment.

"What's the matter?" she heard the man suddenly spoke beside her, exactly how she remembered he did back then.

But she couldn't say a word.

She's still unsure if she's back or is this a dream or the afterlife -- after all, she knew she died. She could still feel the blinding pain from her lungs as it inevitably collapsed and she found herself subconciously lifting her right hand to lightly pound her chest, assuring herself that it's still working despite what she thought.

She's desperately pleading that she's not in some kind of dream or another version of the afterlife, she knows she wouldn't be able to take that blow.
