“We should go,” Matteo says gently, resting a hand on my shoulder and pulling me back to reality. “You heard the judge—the hearing’s been postponed.”

“Y-yeah,” I manage, my whole body trembling, frozen in place by fear.

“I’ll help you,” Nathan offers, moving closer and extending his arm for me to take.

“Let’s go, Matteo,” I mutter, brushing past my ex-husband without sparing him a glance. Then, pausing just long enough to speak without looking him in the eye, I add, “And by the way, Nathan—I don’t want to see you here again. It’s hypocritical of you to show up now when you never had any intention of helping me. Your presence just… disgusts me,” I hiss coldly.

Outside the courthouse, I cling tightly to Matteo’s arm as tears stream down my face. My hand instinctively strokes my swollen belly.

“For a moment… I really thought Oliver was going to hurt us,” I sob, unable to hold it in any longer.

“It’s over now,” Matteo murmurs, rubbing my back soothingly as he helps me into the car. He wai

  • Love for revenge   Following right in his footsteps

Nathan When I catch the determined look in Giselle’s tearful eyes, I realize that no matter what I do, she’ll never be able to forgive me—let alone trust me again. The weight of that thought crushes me, and I stay on my knees, frozen on the floor, watching her walk away.“Is it true what she said?” my nanny asks.“I never lied to her. I was trying to get information about her lab…”“I’m not talking about that,” she cuts me off coldly. “I mean the threat. What you said to her—was it true?” she presses, and I turn my face away, unable to admit that yes, I was low enough to threaten her over something so sensitive.“It’s true,” I confess, her gaze forcing the truth out of me.“How could you do something so despicable?” she scolds, shaking her head. “I know I should know my place, and maybe I’m overstepping, but I’ve always seen you as one of my own grandchildren—not just the little boy I used to look after. And right now, Nathan, I’m deeply disappointed in you. I know your mother would

  • Love for revenge   I regret ever meeting you!

Giselle I open my eyes, feeling disoriented, trying to remember what happened yesterday. But the moment I realize I’m in Nathan’s room, my stomach twists, and I sit up abruptly.“You shouldn’t move so fast, you could get dizzy and—”“What am I doing here?” I snap coldly, standing up, slipping on my ballet flats, and without waiting for an answer, I start looking for my purse. I spot it on one of the dressers.“You fainted yesterday, so I brought you our home. I couldn’t just leave you on the street.”“The street would’ve been better than being with you,” I shoot back, grabbing my bag and yanking the door open. “And just so we’re clear, this was never my home.”“Please, Giselle, don’t run. You could fall,” Nathan calls out, following me. “And yes, this was—and still is—your home.”His nerve makes me laugh, bitterly. And though I try to stop it, my hormones betray me, and tears start falling.“Oh, now you care about what happens to me?” I ask with biting sarcasm, dodging his arm and pr

  • Love for revenge   They´re mine!

As I walk out of the courthouse, I place a hand over my small belly where my babies seem to feel every wave of my emotions. A sharp pain in my lower abdomen makes me gasp, and through my tears, I glance back one last time at the place where Oliver will finally pay for all his crimes. I’m certain of it—this time, justice will be served.“Are you okay?” a voice pulls me from my thoughts.“What are you doing here?” I snap, stepping away from Nathan as he tries to wrap an arm around my shoulders. “Don’t touch me. I warned you last time—stay away from me. I can’t stand any kind of contact with you. Not even the smallest gesture.”“Why are you like this? Did Oliver do something to you?” he asks, ignoring everything I just said.“T-That’s none of your business. Whatever happened between Oliver and me is our problem. Just leave me alone,” I stammer, voice shaky as I try to keep walking. But my body is too worn down from the past few weeks, and dizziness overwhelms me, leaving me too weak to r

  • Love for revenge   Your return is inevitable

Giselle Days later“Is something wrong?” I ask Matteo, who looks a little upset. “You asked to meet with me as soon as you got back from France.”“It’s about the Lefebvre trial,” he explains, letting out a sigh.“Have they managed to buy off the judge?” I ask, afraid that once again, lies will keep me from getting what’s rightfully mine.“No. But during the evidence hearing, Oliver Lefebvre has decided to stay silent, even though they’ve insisted repeatedly that even if he keeps quiet, there’s enough proof against him and the trial will go on.” I frown at his words, unsure what to make of them.“Why is he doing that? Does he think that will convince the judge he’s innocent?”“I don’t know what his strategy is. Maybe he’s trying to wear us down, hoping you’ll withdraw the charges. It’s strange, though his parents keep insisting they’re innocent and that this is all your revenge.”“How can they lie so easily?” I complain, holding back tears. It’s almost impossible for me, thanks to my

Present Time“How—how did he find us?” I ask Aiden, my voice trembling. “He wasn’t supposed to have any way of knowing we’re here.”I’m sobbing, glancing nervously over my shoulder while clutching my small belly.“Relax. He won’t be able to track us down,” Aiden assures me as he helps me into his car.Almost immediately, the driver pulls away, and a few minutes later, we arrive at the house where I now live with Ginevra. My hands shake as I fumble with the door, so Aiden guides me into the living room and helps me sit down.“Take care of her while I’m gone, champ,” he tells little Henry, who hands me his ball and flashes a bright smile.“Don’t leave… please. I-I don’t want to be alone,” I stammer, tears still flowing.“I’m just going to get a glass of water. We won’t leave you alone,” Aiden promises before stepping out of the room, leaving me in the care of the boy.Just as he said, he returns seconds later with a glass of water. I manage a few sips, though it does nothing to calm the
