Chapter 49: The Confession

“Get me Valerie” I heard Mrs. Thompson said to Gia as I descended the stairs and came into the parlour. I watched Gia nodded and rushed out of the room.

I took a seat and picked up the tea Audrey had placed before me. I blew into it to reduce its hotness with my legs crossed, I began to sip it ignoring Mrs. Thompson.

Ever since that episode at the restaurant two days ago. She had been avoiding me. It’s like she was having second thoughts of asking me to marry her son. Was she regretting her actions? Does she now think that Valerie is the right person for Victor? Is that why she sent for her?

I won't allow her to take my dream from me. I dropped the teacup back onto the saucer and straightened my pine. I won't give up without a fight.

“Ma’am!
