CHAPTER SEVEN.

As soon as I walked out of Lucan's gate,I boarded a taxi and made my way to the hospital. Whether I liked it or not I had to go and see my dad's body. I can't keep running away from the fact that I lost dad forever.

As we made our way to the hospital, what the lady at Lucan's house said came back in my mind, she said she belongs to Lucan and I should back off. It was kind of funny for me because I never had any kind of intention towards him, but that was by the way, right now my dad mattered.

When I got to the hospital, I saw Nini and her mum sitting at the reception and they looked sad as I had left them. I walked up to them in a slow stride. I just wanted it all to be a lie.

" Where have you been Mica, you refused to pick up your phone?" Nini said in a concerned voice as she walked up to me.

" I am sorry Mrs Austin for the way I acted earlier, I was not thinking straight and I am sorry too Nini" I said in an apologetic voice.

" It's okay dear" she said as she patted my hair lightly.

" Mica" Nini whispered close to my ears.

"Yes" I replied oblivious of the fact that two eyes were staring at me from a distance.

" Did you come here with sir Lucan?".

"What, no I didn't" I quickly answered.

" Then why is he standing there and looking at you?.

I turned around and saw him standing a few meters away from us and I was surprised.

" What is he doing here?" I whispered to Mica who shrugged her shoulders.

" Mica dear, I will go and make the payments and we can take his body to the funeral home" Mrs Austin said and made her way to the reception.

" Go and talk to him Mica, it seems he is here for you".

" But why?" I asked again, why did he follow me here?''

" Just go Mica, mum and I will handle everything here".

I nodded and left, he was still standing in the same position he was a few minutes ago as I went to meet him.

" Why are you here?" I asked immediately as I walked up to him.

" I wanted to make sure you reached safely, you didn't look okay when you left my house" Lucan replied.

" I am okay, thank you. You can leave now" 

" I will wait until you all leave, don't worry," he replied casually.

I scoffed, " you do not need to do that, we can manage thank you".

" You are welcome" he said but he didn't make any move to leave,he was still standing looking at me.

" Can you please go before your girlfriend comes here?" I was already getting frustrated by his actions.

" Look Miss, your father was the one who made all my snacks so it's only right I pay my respect. I am really not here for you so don't get ahead of yourself".

" You can pay your last respect to him later".

" Mica" I heard my aunt call from behind me.

" Coming aunt" I replied glaring at lucan.

" So your name is Mica?" He asked but I just glared at him and walked off.

" What did he want?" Nini asked the moment I walked up to them.

" Don't mind him Nini, what is more important now is my father" I replied. I turned back to check if he was still there and thank God he already left.

Just then I saw the attendants wheeling my dad's body out of the morgue and it dawned on me that this was the end,I had been left to fend for myself and tears clouded my eyes again.

" Where are you taking him? The lady at the reception told me it will take a while to get everything ready" Mrs Austin spoke to the attendants who had my dad with them.

"  The formalities have been settled since ma, we were just waiting for the ambulance to arrive" one of them replied.

" What do you mean?" I asked.

" The payment and everything was done two hours ago ma" he answered again.

" Who made the payment?" Nini asked, I could see a look of confusion on her face.

" The name on the receipt is Lucan Lim"

I didn't know what to say at that moment, why wasn't this man leaving me alone.

" Are you acquainted with him, Mica?" Mrs Austin asked.

" No aunt. He is just a regular customer of dad's" I replied, looking around to catch a glimpse of him but he was nowhere to be found.

" Okay then, we can thank him later, for now let's get going" she said as we all made our way out of the office. I made a firm resolve within myself not to cry again, this situation will make me stronger and I will try to be a better person for my dad.

When we walked out of the hospital, I noticed Lucan was standing under a tree and looking towards us. I wanted to understand the motive he had for helping me, but the more I kept looking at him the more I couldn't understand him. I couldn't fathom why he was helping me.

" Give me a sec aunt" I said and made my way towards him.

" Why did you pay the bills?" I asked the moment I was in front of him but instead of answering he kept looking at me.

" I am talking to you" I snapped.

" I understand you don't like my face and I don't intend to show it to you again. Just consider this my way of apologizing for the way I treated you in my office and the way Meredith talked to you"

" What?".

" Yes Miss Mica, I had this strange feeling the first time I saw you and I thought it was something but I already clarified myself so you won't be seeing my face again. And my condolences" saying that he fixed his sunglasses and walked off. 

Part of me felt sad seeing him go like that and I didn't understand why. I guess I wanted to see him again but I knew it was not possible, not when we have nothing in common, so turning back I also went to the waiting ambulance.
