Chapter 27

Clara woke up with a throbbing ache and a needle to her temple. She grumbled rubbing at the side of her head, spreading her fingers towards her forehead. The pain intensified causing her to flip her leg over the edge of the bed. She opened the little box she always kept above her bed, picked some aspirin and gulped the tiny white pills, wrinkling her nose when the distasteful smell hit her nose. Just like everything else bad in her life, the headaches—if you could call mind numbing pain an ache— started just after her incident at the parking lot. She waved it off as just the usual morning headaches from cortisol levels but this was different, more painful, came anytime it so desired and worse of all, unheard of, or so the school nurse had put it. She made a mental note to visit a real doctor later that week, knowing at the back of her mind she would postpone it when the time arrived.

She slipped off the bed taking her duvet along with her to save her some of the chill. She could swear
