Her eyes glowed as she glanced at Arthur. She was not sure if it was sympathy, rage, hate, or anguish for him. She closed her eyes to push the memory of his mother smacking him from her mind.
"Are you alright?" With a nod, she responded to his question. "The next room is yours, so make yourself at home, and do not ever catch me off guard again, for I will not take your side for anything." He stated in her hearing. She licked her lips. "If I can't, what does that imply..." "I do not love you and do not intend to do so." He raised his head. She could sense the sorrow in those eyes, which made her wonder how long he had endured such humiliation at the hands of his parents. The fact that his father made no move indicates that he either supports it or that his mother is more strong than him. "I never wanted Luna, Freya, but I am doing this to have an heir to the throne. And because we met and you gave it voluntarily, I will make sure you are the mother of my kid." He approached his bed. "Take this as a chance for you to enjoy a nice life here since you dare not make the mistake of falling for me. If you do, I'll divorce you.” She nodded; it will not be an issue for her when she has a reason to despise him, no matter how cool he appears. "All I want is to be crowned Luna, and to be the mother of your child." After giving it some thought, she grinned to herself and bowed to him. “I'll take my leave now.” She was on her way out of the room when she suddenly remembered something. The Royal File. That is the only file that can reveal who the true king was. It is always given by the moon goddess to the rightful rulers and is substantial proof. It is never two. "As the moon goddess never gave them her blessings, I am sure my father's name is still there as the King." She winked. "I will easily reclaim the throne if I get my hands on that file." Her gaze grew strained as she considered how to grasp it. The file is supposed to be in Alpha's room, so she must thoroughly search the room. She stood at the doorpost, debating whether to go in and search the room when he fell asleep or later at night. All she wants is the best moment to execute the plan covertly. "I will be in trouble if she finds me wearing this outfit. He may begin to despise me or suspect that I am manipulating things. But if I dress like an assassin, he will only chase after me and will most likely be unaware of the person behind the mask." She thought while twisting her lips. Finally, she decided to do it at night while disguised as an assassin. That will be the safest time for her. She heard footsteps approaching and started to unlock the door to go inside. She turned to see Elora and Alpha Arthur's mother approaching where she was standing. She dropped the key and bowed to her. "Greetings, Your Highness." The response she received was a hard slap across the face. She lifted her face to look at Elora, wondering what gave her the courage to press her filthy hand against her cheek. "It is not difficult to break her spine, but it will cause problems for me. I do not need anything to distract me...and I just hope she does not try this again because I will lose it." Freya's wolf muttered at her. Gazing at Elora, she parted her lips. "The courage to lie in front of the ministers. Who do you think you are to accuse me of lying?" Elora screamed at her. She looked to the sides. “Are you referring to me?” She let out a smile. “Oh! I did not realize. But aren't you a liar? If so, it shouldn't bother you.” She stammered and looked at Arthur's mother, who had been observing her closely. Once more, Elora raised her hand, but she held it. “Is that all you got? You must have a death wish…” She pushed her backward. "Do not yell at me, or I will rip out your tongue." "I saw you jump through the fence while I was secretly following the Alpha," Elora said, fuming in rage. She was here before Freya, yet Alpha chose her as the acting Luna. "I will not watch you take my Alpha away from me, so you better go back to where you are coming from." Freya chuckled. “If you love him that much and want him to love you back, then steal his heart…..or better still, go to hell.” She retaliated violently. “Who did you say you are?” Arthur's mother intervened in their argument. Freya bowed to her. "I am Freya, a maiden orphan from this pack," she said. Luna scowled at herself. "Maiden orphan? Who are your parents?” Freya took a deep swallow. "Her conscience is weighing in on her. She must be afraid that I am that child." She faked a smile. "I know nothing about my parents. I grew up with my deceased aunt.” “Aunt?” Luna rolled her eyes. "It is fine, but it does not change the fact that you committed a crime and must face punishment." Her brows knitted. This woman must be trying her patience. "Luna, what crime are you referring to?" She inquired curiously. Luna let out a smirk. "Jumping into the palace through the fence." "I can not be punished because I did not do that. The person who accused me should be held accountable, or even better, both of us.” Freya shot back. Her purpose for entering the palace was not for this. How is she going to complete her nighttime mission if she is to be punished? Elora took a step backward. "You have to pay the price!" "You as well!" With an angry snarl, Freya spat at her. "I just entered the palace, and this is what it looks like." "You think the palace is peaceful, but it is not." Luna struck Freya, pulling her hair so forcefully that the agony caused Freya to push herself away. She grinned and spun around, gesturing to the guard a few feet away to approach right away. “Take her out and tie her up so she can't move.” She gave an order. When Freya heard the order, she dashed into Alpha's room, waking him up. He appeared shocked as he leaped off the bed. "What is the matter with you? I let you into my room; do you have to make a big deal out of it? He screamed at her, "You are the first person to do that." She let out a hiss. "I am not at fault. She was panting, "Your mother wants to punish me." She looked intently at him, remembering that he had mentioned she was the first person in his room. "Is he so cold that no one approaches him? Or does he have a dark past that gives him nightmares?” She shoved her hair. “That's your business!” Luna stormed into the room before Alpha Arthur could say anything. "Get her out of here!" She directed the guard, but Alpha rushed in and obstructed his attempts to touch Freya. “What has gotten into you because of this lady? Why don't you just stay quiet and follow instructions rather than constantly raising a fuss? It appears you should be dethroned...." Freya turned her attention to the woman who was threatening her son. "Why is she acting so cold toward his son? I should not mind either." "You should choose between allowing her to be punished and stepping down from the throne." Alpha's mother elaborated. Alpha Arthur took one look at Freya and gulped. "No matter how difficult you make it appear, I am still the Alpha King, and I declare that she will never be punished, nor will I be deposed. If you insist on punishing her, Elora will also suffer.” He said very boldly in front of his mother, "and I will probably put you and father in a house prison." Luna held her breath. "Are you challenging me?!" "Just choose..." Alpha uttered. Seconds turned into minutes, but his mother remained speechless. "Since you have nothing to say, please leave my room. He proclaimed, "Freya is innocent and will never be punished." Just then, Elora and the guard, along with his mother, stormed out of the room. He turned to face Freya and gave her a pitying look. "Can you still take it as my acting Luna?" She gulped down her saliva. She suspects her, so all of this is just drama, and the only way she can get what she wants is to be cautious until she accomplishes her goal. She said, "You do not have to think that I will back off. I will be your acting Luna," and walked out of the room.Freya stood by the window, gazing out at the pitch-blackness that enveloped the entire area. She cast a quick glance at the closet, which had all of the clothing that Alpha had instructed the maids to bring for her. "I should acquire that file; it will not pass tonight." Shutting the curtain, she considered. A voice spoke to her at that moment. “Flarry!” She said, smiling subtly. "What strategy do you have? I want that jerk dead.” Through a mind connection, Flarry said to her. She let out a gasp. "Leave everything to me; I want him dead more than you do. I can not just kill him off so quickly; he need to endure the agony I did for all these years and then beg to die in my arms. Simply watch and see." She gave him her word. She is the greatest assassin Flarry has ever taught, therefore he trusts her. "Just make sure that nobody finds out who you are." "That is a vow!" She instantly disconnected the mind link and walked to the bed. She had left the palace in the evening on Alpha's or
It was late at night, so she was hesitant to mind-link Flarry, as she had previously thought. She needed to tell him about the file and the hair that had been removed so she could get some ideas from him, so she waited patiently until the next morning. As she prepared to open the door in the morning, she heard a guard whisper to another that the guards were gathered in the palace field and that they would engage in sequential combat with the Alpha. "Is he really that sad to be holding something like this? What if he gets killed by one of them who hates him?" the other guard inquired. She pressed herself against the wall so she could hear them clearly. "That is not possible, not in this palace," the guard who initiated the conversation answered, and they parted ways. Freya squinted as she considered what they had said. "Is it really possible for something like this to happen? Then it means he has a foe watching him." She raised her eyebrows. "Since he is my bait, I have to save him f
She was well aware that Arthur would not be able to evade the motion of the assassin in disguise who was pursuing him, not even with the two swords he was holding. Since the warrior shares the same movements as the other assassins Flarry trains, she assumes that he is an assassin. Additionally, since she is the only assassin under Flarry with a special kind of swordplay, Flarry does not have complete control over her. "I can not watch you die while I still have not gotten what I want. I must save you, or my time in this palace will come to an end and I will be unable to obtain the royal file." She stood up from her seat and stepped into the field, causing commotion among those watching. Realizing that she would not make it to the field in time, she pulled out the sword of a standing guard and hurled it straight at the assassin in disguise. The assassin's sword struck the sword, causing it to fall to the ground. The assassin turned to face her, their eyes meeting, but she could feel
"We will complete everything at night!" She knew they were leaving the room after hearing that last statement, so she hid in a corner. She continued to snoop around to find out their identities and appearances. The doctor left, and a young man with a white beard trailed behind. A flash of memory crossed her mind. She remembered that face, that beard, being stroked the instant her mother was lying on the ground, stabbed. It was him, the leader of the gang assigned to kill her parents. He did it, and now he is chasing her as well. She shook her head, thinking, "I wonder who he killed thinking that it was me. I will not let you go unharmed since we crossed paths again. We will see each other tonight." She emerged from her secret alcove and started making her way to her room. She has a ton of work to do. She must look in Luna's room for the file, after which she must take action regarding the buried corpse and her past. “Flarry, “ she mind-linked him. "How can I make my background more
Anger flooded her veins as the assassin started to dig the grave right in front of her eyes. She thought, "I do not care, Arthur; you can do your worst when I return—but do not cross the line so you do not lose your life tonight." She pulled out her sword and spun around to charge the assassin, who was already feeling pursued. A sword duel broke out between them as he brandished his weapon. They glared at each other, their swords colliding and crossing each other as they exploded with rage. She withdrew, reaching for a knife she was holding in her left hand, slashed at his neck, and jumped forward to meet him. Rather than retreat, he ignored the wound and charged at her, swinging his sword, to which she answered with a clang that reverberated through the shrub. "Retreat!" she yelled at him. However, she was met with an unexpected blow to the face that knocked her to the ground. He moved forward brandishing his sword, and she fell backwards ... ..and as soon as she was upright, she l
Freya stayed in her room until after nine in the morning. She was still in there, staring at the ceiling while lying on the bed with her legs propped up against the wall. All she was bothered by last night's events—the maid, then the assassin. Though her instincts prevent her from thinking positively, she wants to think that they are not spies. "It is likely that she is using them to trick me because she recognized me." She reminded herself once more. However, thinking back to the chats Luna had with the assassin prior to his departure from the house yesterday, it did not seem like she was taking advantage of him, and the maid dressing down to protect her is evidence that they are real. "Is she aware that it was me? And that I am an assassin?” Shaking her head, she turned to face the opposite end of the bed. "Now, how long has it been? Were they here because they had to save me? But, if that assassin is real, why does he work for her?" At that moment, she remembered the last thing t
It dawned on her that Arthur was not dressed like a king as she strolled beside him and observed how people were staring at them. She gave him a tap. "Is this a fun way to go out?" He chuckled. "I want people to respect and avoid me, but I do not want them to know that I am their king." She grinned and thought, "Better for you, since it will soon be known by everyone that the throne is not rightfully yours." He nodded when she told him, "It is okay to dress up in order to meet people." Pausing, he gestured toward the bar. “Let's have a drink. It will be enjoyable to discuss drinking outside the palace for the first time in a while.” She gave a shoulder shrug. "I can not carry you to the palace if you are drunk; I just hope you can handle emptying multiple bottles." "If I get drunk, I will just sleep in there because we will pay for a room there." Though she did not think it was amusing, he thought it was. “What about your mother? Won't she be mad at you?” She inquired, knowing w
Finding herself nude on the floor, Freya was taken aback. She wiped her face, thinking it was just a dream, and then looked down at her nude body once more. “Wait! I must be insane," she exclaimed as she instantly got to her feet and noticed Arthur lying next to her. "What transpired between us? Hope it isn't what I'm thinking?” Reassuring herself that it was just a thought, she shook her head. She reached for her clothes and pulled them on, glancing at the table, which was still filled with cups and liquor bottles. "You mean we had a drink and then passed out? Nothing else occurred, correct?" She nodded, about to move, but felt something painful beneath her. She paused, bending her head to peer beneath her thighs to see what was happening there. She noticed a bloodstain on the floor as soon as she turned. “Eeeish! This should just be a dream, I'd prefer it.” She reclined on the floor once more and remained there for some time before getting up, but nothing had changed. “I messed my
