Standing before Arthur, her eyes were dazzling as she stared at him. She couldn't tell if it was anger, hate, pain or pity for him. The scene of his mother slapping him flashed through her mind, and she shut her eyes to get rid of it.
“Are you okay?” He asked and she nodded. “The room after this one is yours, so make yourself comfortable in it, and don't ever take me unaware again, because I won't take your side for any reason.” He stated to her hearing. She licked her lips. “If I can't, then does it mean….”“I don't love you and I have no intention to.” He lifted his face. She could feel the pain in those eyes, making her think of how long he had been taking such an embarrassment from his parents. The fact that his father made no move means that he's in support of it, or that his mother is more powerful than him. “Freya, I never wanted Luna, but I'm doing this because I need an heir to the throne. And since we met and you gave in willingly, I'll make sure you'll be the mother of my child.”He walked towards his bed. “Take it that this is the opportunity for you to live a luxurious life here because you dare not make a mistake to fall for me. If you do, I'll divorce you.”She nodded, that won't be a problem for her when she has a motive and will always hate him no matter how cool he acts. “All I want is to be crowned Luna …. I want to be the mother of your child.” She thought and smiled inwardly, then bowed to him. “I'll take my leave now.” She made her way out of the room when she recalled something. The royal file. That's the only file that will tell who the true king was. It is never two, it's always given to the true rulers by the moon goddess…..and is great evidence.“I'm certain my father's name is still there as the King since the moon goddess never bestowed her blessings on them.” She scoffed. “If I get my hand on that file, I'll easily take back the throne.” Her eyes narrowed, deep in thought and how to get hold of it.The file is supposed to be in the Alpha's room, and so she has to search the room thoroughly. She stood at the doorpost, contemplating whether to go in there and search the room when he fell asleep or do it at night. All she wants is the most suitable time to carry out the plan without being caught.“If she gets me while I'm dressed this way, I'll be in trouble. He might start hating or suspecting that I'm up to something. But if I dress like an assassin, he will only chase after me but will likely not be aware of the face behind the mask.” She thought, twisting her lips.At last, she decided to do it at night while dressed as an assassin. That will be the most safe time for her.She began unlocking the door to go in when footsteps approaching drew her attention. She turned to see Elora and Alpha Arthur's mother coming to where she was standing. She let go of the key and bowed to her. “Greetings, Your Highness!”The response she got was a heavy slap across her face. She lifted her face to look at Elora, wondering what gave her the guts to raise her filthy hand on her cheek.“It's not a bit hard to break her spine, but that will cause issues for me. I don't need anything to distract me….and I just hope she doesn't try this again or I'll lose it.” Freya's wolf muttered to her. She stretched her lips, staring at Elora.“The guts to lie before the ministers. Who do you think you are to call me a liar?” Elora yelled at her.She looked at the sides. “Are you referring to me?” She smiled. “Oh! I didn't know. But aren't you a liar? If so, it shouldn't bother you.” She blabbered, taking a glance at Arthur's mother who had been taking a good look at her.Elora lifted her hand again, but she held it. “Is that all you got? You must have a death wish…” she pushed her backwards. “Don't even yell at me or I'll rip out your tongue.”“I saw you jump through the fence while I was secretly following the Alpha,” Elora commented, fuming in anger. She was here before Freya, yet Alpha chose her as the acting Luna. “You better go back to where you're coming from, because I won't watch you take my Alpha away from me.”Freya laughed. “If you love him that much and want him to love you back, then steal his heart…..or better still, go to hell.” She slammed back at her.“Who did you say you are?” Arthur's mother broke into the quarrel.Freya bowed to her. “My name is Freya, an orphan maiden from this pack.”Luna furrowed her brows. “Orphan maiden? Who are your parents?”Freya swallowed deeply. “Her conscience is dealing with her. She must be scared that I am that child.” She faked a smile. “I don't know my parents. I grew up with my deceased aunt.”“Aunt?” Luna rolled her eyes. “It's fine, but that doesn't change the fact that you committed a crime and must be punished.”Her brows knitted. This woman must be testing her patience.“What crime are you talking about, Luna?” She asked curiously.Luna smirked. “jumping into the palace through the fence.”“I didn't do that so I can't be punished. If anyone should be punished, it must be the one who accused me…or better still the both of us.” Freya retorted. This isn't what she came into the palace for. If she's Been punished, how will she carry out her mission at night?Elora stepped back. “You must be punished!”“You too!” Freya snapped at her angrily. “I just came into the palace and this is what it looks like.”“The palace isn't as peaceful as you think.” Luna bashed Freya, yanking her hair so hard that the pain made Freya push her backwards. She smirked and turned around, she signaled the guard standing some feet away who came closer immediately. “Take her out and tie her up so she can't move.” She ordered. On hearing the order, Freya ran into Alpha's room, waking him up. He jumped from the bed looking startled. “What is wrong with you? Must you make a fuss because I let you into my room? You're the first person to do that.” he yelled at her.She hissed. “It isn't my fault. Your mother wants to punish me.” she was panting. Recalling that he made mention of her being the first person in his room, she stared at him closely. “Is he that cold that no one comes near him? Or does he have a dark past that causes him nightmares?” She shoved her hair. “That's your business!”Before Alpha Arthur could speak, Luna barged into the room. “Take her away!” She ordered the guard, but Alpha rushed and obstructed his way to touch not Freya. “What has gotten into you because of this lady? Can't you just lie low and obey orders instead of making a fuss all the time? Looks like you should be dethroned…..”Freya turned to look at the woman who was threatening her son. “Why is she acting so cold to his son? I shouldn't care either.”“You should choose between letting her be punished and stepping down from that throne.” Alpha's mother added.Alpha Arthur took a look at Freya and gulped. “No matter how hard you make it look, I am still the Alpha King and so I declare that she will never be punished nor will I be dethroned. If you insist that she should be punished, then Elora will be too…and I'll likely put you and father in a house prison,” he stated, very boldly before his mother.Luna gasped. “You're challenging me!?”“Just make a choice…” Alpha uttered.Seconds turned to minutes yet his mother couldn't speak.“Since you have nothing to say, you all can leave my room. Freya is innocent and can never be punished.” he declared. At that moment, his mother stormed out of the room with Elora and the guard. He turned to Freya, staring at her with pity. “Can you still stand it as my acting Luna?”She swallowed her saliva. All these are just dramas because she suspects her, and the only way to get what she wants is by being cautious until she achieves her aim. “I'll be your acting Luna….you don't have to think that I'll back off,” she replied and made her way out of the room.Freya stood at the window, looking at the darkness that covered everywhere. She glanced at the wardrobe where the clothes Alpha ordered the maids to bring for her were all kept. “It won't pass this night, I should get that file.” She thought and closed the curtain. Just then, a voice spoke to her. “Flarry!” She mentioned, letting out a soft smile.“What is your plan? I want that jerk dead.” Flarry said to her through a mind link. She gasped. “Me too, I want him dead more than you want, so leave everything to me. I can't just kill him off that easily, he should feel the pains I felt all these years and then plead for his death in my hands…just watch and see.” She assured him.Flarry trusts her, she's the best assassin he ever trained. “Just naked sure your identity isn't exposed.”“It's a promise!” She cut the mind link immediately and then walked to the bed. In the evening time, she had left the palace with Alpha's order in the name of going to see a friend and bid them goodbye, but h
It was very late in the night, so she was against mind-linking Flarry as she thought earlier. She needed to tell him about the file and her hair which was taken so she could get some ideas from him, so she waited patiently, staying awake till the next morning. When she was about to open the door in the morning, she overheard one of the guards whispering to another that the guards were gathered in the palace field and they would be fighting with the Alpha one after the other.“Is he that sad to hold such a thing? What if he ends up being slayed by one of them that hates him?” the other guard asked. She pinned her body on the wall to hear them very well. “Such a thing can not happen, not in this palace.” the guard who began the conversation replied and they went their ways.Freya narrowed her eyes, pondering over their discussions. “Is it truly possible for such a thing to happen? Then it means he has an enemy watching him.” she arched her brows. “I should be there when the event begins
She knew so well that even with the two swords Arthur was holding, he wouldn't be able to dodge the motion of the disguised assassin coming after him. She believes that the warrior is an assassin because his moves are the same as the other assassins that Flarry trains, she's the only assassin under Flarry with unique swordsmanship and Flarry doesn't have full control over her either.“I can not watch you be dead when I've not gotten what I want. I must save you, or my stay in this palace will come to an end and I won't be able to get the royal file.” she stood from her seat, taking on her heels into the field, causing commotions amongst the people watching. Seeing that it would be too late before she reached the field, she drew out the sword of one of the guards standing and threw it directly at the disguised assassin. The sword slashed with that of the assassin which made it fall to the ground. The assassin turned to take a good look at her, they locked eyes but she could sense ange
“Everything will be done at night!!'' That was the last statement she heard before she hid in a corner, knowing that they were coming out of the room. She was still peeping to see who they were and what they looked like. The physician walked out, then followed by a young man with a white beard.A memory flashed through her head. She recalled that face, that beard that was rubbed the moment her mother was stabbed while on the floor. He was the one, the head of the gang group that was sent to murder her parents. It was him, and now he's after her too.“I wonder who he killed thinking that it was me.” she thought and shook her head. “Since we met again, I won't let you go unscathed. We will meet each other tonight.” she came out of her hidden corner and began moving to her room. She has a lot to do. The file, she needs to search for it in Luna's room, and then she has to do something about her background and the buried corpse.“Flarry, “ she mind-linked him. “How do I make my background
The assassin began digging the grave before her very eyes, causing anger to surge through her veins. “I don't care, Arthur, you can do your worst when I return—but don't cross the line so you don't lose your life tonight.” she thought and unsheathed her sword, taking to her heels towards the assassin who already had the feeling that someone was after him.He pulled out his sword and then a duel took place between them. Their swords collided, crossing each other as they fumed in anger, glaring at each other. She pulled back and drew out a knife which she held in her left hand, jumping towards him, and leaving on his neck a slash with the knife. He didn't pull back either, instead, he overlooked the cut and rushed towards her, taking action with his sword and she responded to it causing a clanging sound that echoed in the bush.“Back off!” she said to her. But the response she got was a sudden hit on her face which sent her to the floor. She rolled backwards as he came forward with his
It was past 9am, yet Freya never left her room. She was still in there, lying on the bed with her legs placed on the wall while she stared at the ceiling. All that happened last night was bothering her…first, the assassin, and then the maid. She wants to believe that they aren't spies, but her instincts won't let her think positively. “She recognised me, so there's a probability that she's using then to deceive me.” She reminded herself again. But recalling the conversations Luna had with the assassin before he left the house yesterday, it didn't sound like she was using him, and the maid disguising herself just to save her is proof that they are real.“She knows that it was me? And that I am an assassin?” She shook her head, rolling to the other end of the bed. “For how long now? Were they here because they had to save me? But, if that assassin is real, why is he working for her?” That was when she recalled the last statement the assassin made. “He had done that to save me? What exa
Walking side by side with Arthur, she noticed the way people were staring at them, that was when it dawned on her that Arthur wasn't dressed like a king. She tapped him. “Do you enjoy going out this way?”He chuckled. “I don't want people to know that I'm their king, so they won't stay away from me or pay respect.”“Better for you, because it will soon be known by everyone that the throne is not rightfully yours.” she thought and smiled. “That's okay, to play a disguise for the sake of meeting with people,” she said to him and he nodded. He paused and pointed at the bar. “Let's have a drink. It's been a while since I came outside the palace to talk more about drinking out here, and it will be fun.”She shrugged her shoulders. “I just hope you can stand emptying more than one bottle because I can't carry you to the palace if you're drunk.”“We will pay for a room there, so if I get drunk, I'll just sleep in there.” it sounded fun to him, but to her, it was otherwise. “What about your
Freya was shocked to see herself naked on the floor. She wiped her face, believing that it was a dream, and then took a good look at her naked body again. “Wait! I must be crazy.” she stood up immediately to see Arthur lying beside the place she was. “What happened between us? Hope it isn't what I'm thinking?”She shook her head, trying to reassure herself that it was just a mere thought. She grabbed her clothes and had them on, taking a look at the table that was still occupied with bottles of liquor and cups.“We drank and slept off, right? Nothing else happened right?” she nodded and was about to make a move, but she noticed a sore feeling under her. She stopped and bent her head to see what was going on under there, but she could only see her thighs. The moment she turned, she saw a blood stain on the floor. “Eeeish! This should just be a dream, I'd prefer it.” She laid down on the floor again, stayed for a while, and then stood up but everything was just like it was. “I messed my
