004

It was very late in the night, so she was against mind-linking Flarry as she thought earlier. She needed to tell him about the file and her hair which was taken so she could get some ideas from him, so she waited patiently, staying awake till the next morning.

When she was about to open the door in the morning, she overheard one of the guards whispering to another that the guards were gathered in the palace field and they would be fighting with the Alpha one after the other.

“Is he that sad to hold such a thing? What if he ends up being slayed by one of them that hates him?” the other guard asked. She pinned her body on the wall to hear them very well. “Such a thing can not happen, not in this palace.” the guard who began the conversation replied and they went their ways.

Freya narrowed her eyes, pondering over their discussions. “Is it truly possible for such a thing to happen? Then it means he has an enemy watching him.” she arched her brows. “I should be there when the event begins, I have to save him from them in case of any abrupt move—because he's my bait.” she smiled and flung the door open.

She put on a long gown that covered the hooded robe of her assassin, then she made her way out of the palace building. “I have to see the physician before she runs the test and gives them the feedback.” she thought, walking as fast as she could.

On her way, she stumbled on the Alpha who was coming back from the old palace. She bowed to him with a smile. “Your Majesty…” she licked her lips. “I hope I don't look suspicious because you almost caught where I'm headed.” she thought, still smiling.

“That smile, what's so funny.” he distracted her thoughts. She winked her eyes. “Uhmm! I should be frowning so I won't be asked such a difficult question again. Well, I'm taking a fast look around the palace before the game starts.” she replied, gesturing.

He nodded and patted her shoulder. “You declined to have guards and maids, then be safe alone ... you still owe me a child.”

She bowed to him and began her journey. While walking, she kept glancing backward until he vanished from the scenario, and then she reversed her moves to the royal physician's house. Almost close to his house, Flarry mind linked with her.

“You heard my voice when you woke up?” she asked and he replied. “It's about the royal file of the palace, I can't find it in the King's room and my hair. I overheard his mother discussing with someone that she gave it to the physician to run a paternity test,” she stated to him through the mind link.

Flarry sighed. “I still don't understand what sort of mission I sent you for. You just have to kill them and we can easily get the file without stress.”

“That's a lie! Not everything works out that way. Do you realize that if his mother finds out that the child she thinks of, my stay here will end? She will either bring up any stupid crime and make sure I'm executed or exiled so I won't be back to the palace again.” she gulped. “Look Flarry, I know that you want him dead, and I want that too, but not just his dead body. I need him dead and then that throne too—I can't take it without that file, and none of us knows where it is.”

“And your hair, what will do so she won't find out who you are?” he asked.

She rolled her eyes. “Well, I'm already in the physician's house and I'll take it from him before leaving.”

“Be careful not to be caught,” he warned her and cut the link.

She licked her lips and pulled out her gown. She took out her mask and had it on, then hid the cloth in a secret corner. She made her way into the building but saw no one. When she entered the backyard, she saw him busy preparing herbal medicines.

“Old hag!” she cursed, pulling out her hawkbill knife which she threw beside him to draw his attention. The old man turned to see a masked assassin coming closer to him, causing him to tremble to the ground.

“Please don't hurt me! I'll give you anything you want.” he pleaded, pushing his butt backward.

She walked faster to him and jacked him up with just a hand, glaring at him with fierce eyes. “The hair!” she muttered, the last thing she does is speak out loudly when in her uniform. She must not be known.

He pointed at the veranda, and there she could see his bag. She dropped him and let him head to his bag, and then he handed the hair wrapped in nylon to her. “Please, Luna will be sad if I don't give her feedback today.”

She smirked, and at that moment, she perceived the presence of a guard in the compound.

“Royal physician!” the guard called out from the frontage of the building.

Knowing that the guard was closer and might see her, she drew the physician closer. “Give her negative feedback. She isn't the one she thought.” but the physician shook his head in disagreement. “I can't lie to her, and you can't barge in here to tell me what to do,” he responded aloud.

Freya sensed that the source of his sudden boldness was the guard that was around, and she wouldn't want to cause trouble by fighting the guard. More of them might come, and the King will begin looking for her.

She glared at the physician and then hit his lower knocked out of anger that he fell unconscious. The most important of her mission was accomplished, so she fled immediately from the compound through the roof.

When she was out of the building where she kept her clothes, she dug the ground and buried the hair, to make sure it was out of sight. “I won't let her touch my body again,” she remarked and got changed before heading to the palace.

The game between the King and the warriors had already begun, but she went back to the palace building and freshened up first, got changed into a nice dress before coming to the training field. There, she could see Elora, Luna, and the past King as well watching the show.

Not just them, the ministers were there as well.

The warriors were more than thirty in number, and Alpha Arthur was already done with half of them. She watched and smiled inwardly. “It was me! They are all innocent….” The sight of how the warrior who was fighting the king took it seriously began drawing her attention.

“His swordsmanship is just like one of Flarrys men. I don't think he's a warrior—and it shouldn't be what I'm thinking right?” her brows furrowed as she focused her gaze on the warrior, watching how he swung his sword and how Arthur dodged it several times. “He's an assassin, not a warrior. Flarry….” she gasped.

The moment the guard flew higher into the air, directing his sword to stab Arthur in his heart, her heartbeat increased. “That sword will definitely pierce into your heart, Arthur…” she quivered, feeling the urge to go after him or that would be the end of her bait.
