Chapter Three - Master

ROSITA LAUREN’S POV

A wave of exhaustion hit me after the tour around the mansion was over. I’m only grateful because there was a snack waiting for us downstairs in the kitchen.

I could feel my knees wobbling because it has been a long time since I walked that far. It still surprises me that the mansion was enormous and wide.

Aside from that, I have learned about a lot of things, especially what are the jobs of the other butlers and maids here around the mansion.

Edwin was a butler, he does cleaning around the mansion but mostly drives for the boss when Judeo is busy, helping him with that task.

Romeo, on the other hand, is a gardener.  He supervises the maintenance of the mansion's gardens and trees.

He also has a crew that assists him whenever the garden requires general cleaning, which happens every Saturday.

Lastly, Pauline is in charge of doing laundry and preparing meals, and she takes turns doing both of these tasks.

“Pauline! The master has arrived!” A maid came running to us with horror evident in her eyes, “H-He's in a foul mood today,”

“Oh no, he might've heard about the new maid and…is expecting to be there to greet him, go Rosy!” Pau pushed me.

“H-Huh? Where?” I nervously asked. She looked at the maid who called out to them and asked her to follow that woman.

“I wish you luck, Rosy! Please don't quit, I like you already!” Pau shouted when I finally turned to another hallway.

“I hope she won't be disappointed; it was the first time she liked someone and spoke to them first,” The maid commented, capturing my attention.

“R-Really? Why is that?” I asked, a little confused. She did not bother answering me as she continued guiding her toward the main entrance.

“Well, I don't know, maybe she saw something in you compared to the 142 who has quitted back then,” She finally answered, “We're here, we truly wish you luck,”

My eyes peered at the main entrance of the mansion, gasping in surprise when they all greeted him, “Welcome back, Master,” All of the maids and butlers standing on the side, bowed.

My eyes almost widened because I was the only one in the center who didn’t do that. I gulped after seeing those expensive black leather shoes step on the red carpet.

I examined him from toe to head and knew that the fabric of his tuxedo was well-tailored from another country. After finally meeting his gaze, I could feel my soul has left my body.

My heart raced and I felt like I couldn't breathe, in fact, it felt like his silver glinting eyes were trying to suck in my soul.

He was carrying a black suitcase, but despite all that, my eyes remained looking at his eyes as if I was familiar with him.

“What the hell are you doing here?” His deep, slightly cold tone raised, making everyone flinch as they remained bowing at his sight.

I was confused because he was still looking at me before I decided to look at the back, there was no one there aside from me, was he talking to me?

“Are you deaf?” He gritted his teeth, “Who the hell brought her here?!” He screamed furiously, making everyone anxious.

What is wrong with him? Why is he so mad at someone, but keeps looking at me intently? “You really want to test my patience?” He added, so I wondered.

“Excuse me, master, but are you speaking to me?” I pointed to myself and was glad that I finally composed myself.

What happened a while ago still confuses me, it was like sparks were greeting my veins even if there was this distance between us.

“Who else am I talking to?” His jaw tightened, making me tilt my head because I didn’t realize that it was me.

“If that is so, master, then you should’ve called out my name, we won't know who you were talking to unless you mentioned our names,” I firmly told him, surprising everyone in the room.

I could feel numerous eyes boring into my position after I said those words. Some of them even have these warning eyes, but I didn’t bother.

They looked like they were scared for my life, but I’m probably just going to be fine since I’m not saying anything offensive.

“But I'm newly hired here so maybe you don't know my name just yet, that is why I apologize for not introducing myself sooner,” I exhaled a lungful of air before stepping forward to get close to him.

My feet stopped on their own when I realized that the distance between us shortened. I knew that he was tall, but it felt like he was more than six feet taller, or even closer to seven, making me feel a little anxious.

It felt like he was towering over me, so I tried so hard to take a deep breath before looking him in the eyes.

“My name is Rosita Lauren, I'm the newly hired maid to serve you, Master Kiefer Dy Montefalco,” I decided to curtsy because back then, I had studied the etiquette and home economics tasks that maids and butlers do.

KIEFER DY MONTEFALCO’S POV

I was hoping not to appear surprised by what she did. It was the first time I had been blown away by someone so beautiful, and the fact that she was my mate enraged me.

The moment I stepped out of the car a while ago, I already smelled her scent. It was powerful, alluring, and arousing to me at the same time.

I was anxious because I couldn't believe this was the day I'd meet her; it wasn't the right time. I'm not ready to accept her.

“Judeo! Get your ass here this instant!” I screamed my beta’s name, my terrifying tone booming across the lobby.

It wasn't long until Judeo was immediately by my side with a bright smile plastered on his lips, “What can I do to serve you, master?”

My hands pointed at Rosita, “Take this woman away, I don't like her,” I gritted my teeth, which made her eyes widen.

Rumors from the maids around them started to rise and I could tell that she was starting to get anxious because they all sounded worried for her well-being.

“I told you she wouldn't last longer than five minutes,”

One of my butlers whispered, which made some of them chuckle.

“And here I thought someone could beat the one-hour stay because the master hasn't arrived just yet,”

“You fool, we count the minutes from the moment the master arrives,” One of the maids rolled her eyes before crossing her arms against her chest.

“It such a shame, she looked decent enough to fit the standards of the master, I thought we could be friends with her as well,”

I wanted to say something but was stopped when she asked something I did not expect to hear from her or anyone.

“What did I do for you not to like me, master?” She worriedly asked, which made me stop because her tone sounded a little hurt.

She was biting her lip the whole time while playing with her fingers, it was obvious that she was trying to think of the things she may have done.

I shook my head, I should not let myself be affected by her because I still have a lot of things I needed to do without her.

“Take her away or I'll throw all of you out of the mansion!” I furiously screamed, so what happened next surprised him when she held onto his hands.

The sparks almost made him grunt as his gaze met up with hers, “P-Please, I don't know what I did to upset you, but…give me a chance to prove to myself that I'll do better for this job,” She mumbled, forcing everyone to look at her.

She was holding onto my hands. I couldn't say anything because the effect of her holding me got to me as I decided to step away before averting my gaze.

Her emerald eyes were mesmerizing, it almost felt like she was trying to read into my soul that almost terrified me.

“I-I lost my home just a while ago, my relatives didn't want me anymore because my parents didn't leave me any money, so I'm desperate to look for some other jobs right now no matter what it is,” She desperately added.

“Since the master doesn't want you here, Rosita, there's this club that's looking for some dancers, their salary there is enough to keep you well, I feel bad because he wants you out of here,” Judeo suddenly suggested, so I shifted my gaze to him.

He then started informing her where she could look for that club, handing out a business card until I decided to slash it away from her hands.

“Are you out of your mind, Judeo?” I firmly raised my tone, but he acted like he didn't care about what I said before sniggering.

I could tell that he probably noticed something strange from how I acted and decided to test me. I mentally cursed him and harshly gave her my suitcase, making her grunt.

“Take that to my room, make sure you will not stain it,” I squinted my eyes at her before leaving.

The last thing I heard was that my people were cheering and celebrating for her, but I didn’t bother as I proceeded into my room.

Someone was walking behind my back and I knew that it was him, my devious beta, “Interesting turn of events, who knew that she was the one that we're all been looking for?” He sniggered.

“Judeo!” I screamed the moment we arrived in the room, so he innocently raised his hands in defeat.

“What do you want now, Alpha? Don’t throw your tantrums at me,” Judeo almost rolled his eyes. I can’t believe he’s using his attitude right now against me.

“Where did you find that woman?” I solemnly asked before taking out a cigarette from my pocket and lighting it up with some lighter.

“She probably saw one of our fliers around the streets, only desperate people would come to accept that job, our salary for them that is written there might lure someone away, thinking that it was a scam but it's not,” He explained.

“Tsk!” I blew my cigarette before stomping it to the ground, “I don't need someone like her, not at this time,”

“Oh? What do you mean by that, Alpha?” Judeo hummed, and I knew that he was just trying to push me to my limits.

“Never mind you, useless buffoon, I'll just forget about everything that has happened today,” I mumbled before walking to my bed and checking on my phone.

“Alright, Alpha! I'll make sure not to tell anyone that it's possible that you found your mate!” Judeo raised his tone, enough that only the two of us could hear.

I immediately raised my middle finger toward him before trying to check the information on my phone again, “Damn it! Now I have to go back to that stupid company to fix everything! Why do I have to hire such stupid employees?!”

After complaining, I decided to get to my car and drive away from my mansion. I don't know why I decided to look at my hands, the hands that she touched a while ago.

I could feel my cheeks heating up because her alluring scent lingered there, “F.uck this intoxicating smell!” I gritted my teeth, trying to forget how adorable she was a while ago which made my heart skip a beat.

ROSITA LAUREN’S POV

I was still processing my thoughts while thanking numerous people around the mansion because they kept on congratulating me on what had happened.

It was a little strange and at the same time, fun because it was the first time I spoke to almost everyone around the mansion.

My heart was beating frantically inside my chest, I was truly nervous. I thought that I had lost the opportunity to make a change in my life just because the master didn’t like me.

“Rosy! Oh my god, you're the first one he allowed to stay here despite that he didn't like you!” Pau ran towards me to hug me tightly, “D-Do you know how much I cried when we heard what was going on a while ago?”

She then sobbed loudly, almost making me panic but that didn't bother me that much because it looks like she was relieved by what had happened.

“I thought I'm going to lose you that early! I can't have that!” Pau complained as the boys around them agreed.

“Yeah, we had fun, we don't want to lose that just yet,” Edwin sighed deeply. Romeo tapped his back to comfort him.

“We also didn't know that was the reason why you're here,” Pau broke her hug to me, “I'm sorry to hear that, Rosy,”

I shook my head, “No worries, I just want to make sure that I'll do better, no matter what will happen, I will never quit!”

“I have to earn enough money to leave this place and start finding a job suitable for the course that I've finished,” I added.

Pau smiled before tapping my back, “That's the spirit, Rosy! I really like you for being this optimistic,”

“And badass, I can't believe that she also has the confidence to answer him back, that scared me,” Edwin almost chuckled.

“Milady must've experienced such a hard life, that is probably why she isn't scared of anything until she solves it or not,” Romeo added.

“What were those guys? I heard you guys saying something,” I curiously asked, but they didn't say anything aside from smiling.

“Nothing! Is there something that you need to do?” Pau curiously asked.
