Chapter Two - Mansion

ROSITA LAUREN’S POV

Judeo amusingly chuckled at my remark. It made me feel anxious because he might find me strange for the comments I was saying.

“Shall I tour you inside Ms. Rosita?” He bowed before gesturing the way toward the main entrance, which I found a little uncomfortable.

“You don't have to be so formal with me, I'm here to work for this mansion,” I nervously chuckled, making him smile.

“One of the rules here in this mansion is to be polite no matter how harsh or kind the people around you treat you,” Judeo firmly told me.

“O-Oh? Is that so?” I took a deep breath before composing myself. I decided to follow him inside, gasping in astonishment when I saw a red carpet lying flat on the ground.

A crystal chandelier, presumably worth millions of dollars, hung above. The sight of countless uncommon pieces of furniture that I'm sure only existed in other countries made me almost gag.

Numerous uniformed men and women were seen cleaning with strange appliances that I never expected to see before I died.

Those are the appliances that are expensive and limited in the market; only wealthy people can afford them.

Aside from that, every corner of the house is filled with high-quality and expensive chocolates that she was sure she couldn't find in Pearl City.

“The owner of this place isn't just rich, he's stupid rich,” I whispered to myself, stopping when I heard Judeo chuckling again.

“Y-You heard that?” I instantly panicked, “I swore I whispered it to myself, you have sharp hearing,”

Judeo nodded mysteriously, “All of the people inside this house have a very high sense of hearing, I hope you won't find it strange; we need to have that to serve our masters,”

“Right, of course, so we could hear every time my master would call for me,” I beamed before attentively listening to Judeo's pieces of information around the house.

In my opinion, he makes an excellent tour guide; I remember everything he advised me to pay attention to. His tone and calm demeanor did not put pressure on me to remember things that will be useful to me someday.

“And oh, before we forget, this is going to be your room,” Judeo opened a door, revealing to me an enormous room filled with lavender and cream-colored curtains.

The bed linens and cushions were the same color, and it felt like that room was designed specifically for me.

My feet dragged me inside, where there were wardrobes large enough to hold my clothes. It was also my desire to have a study table in my future room, so when I saw one on the right, my heart skipped a beat.

“A-Are you sure that this room is for me?” I looked at him with wide eyes, which made him chuckle.

“Yes, this room will be your temporary home for now aside from this mansion,” He smiled, making me wonder for a moment.

“I-I'm already hired?” I almost gasped in excitement, but still, find it a little suspicious because I haven't met my boss yet.

“Yes, that is why I toured you around the place, plus we're badly in need of a maid because our master constantly needs it,” Judeo sighed.

“If only he was not that harsh towards this last one, she lasted for almost a week,” He whispered that she didn’t quite hear.

“S-Sorry? I didn't hear what you just said, I really need to work on my hearing skills,” I muttered frustratedly.

He shook his head before smiling as he gestured to my room again, “You may settle down and your uniform is already placed in your wardrobe,”

“Thank you, Mr. Judeo,” I gave him a small smile, “You don’t know how this helped me so much,”

“No problem at all, you have to go downstairs after you fix yourself, I’ll introduce you to our other staff,” After he said those words, he left me alone inside of the room.

I checked to make sure he was gone when I opened the door from the outside, then shut it once more before running to jump into her queen-sized bed.

“This is a dream!” I happily squealed, trying to hide myself on the soft, lavender-scented pillows to contain my excitement.

I still find things a little strange because everything is changing so drastically around me, but I had no choice; the sooner I started working, the better so that I could earn enough money to get back on my feet.

After raising my body from the bed, I looked at my bags and luggage, “I should settle down quickly,” I mumbled as I started unpacking.

It didn’t take me a while to unpack because I only had a few things with me which almost made my room a little messy.

My eyes then examined the uniform I have inside the wardrobe, “I-Is this necessary for me to wear?” I almost blushed before grabbing one of them out.

It was a maid uniform, similar to what those cute anime cosplayers wearing that I’ve seen online, but this one was a little shorter compared to the long ones I've seen.

“Oh, it’s my exact size, strange,” She shrugged before deciding to slip on that outfit before fixing my hair.

I decided to check my reflection in the mirror, smiling after seeing that the outfit suits me perfectly. My eyes were naturally emerald, my long wavy hazelnut hair was tied, and my skin was fair, making my lips shine brightly in peach.

“This is just the power of rich people,” I muttered before twirling around to check if she could do hard tasks in her outfit.

“Alright! Let’s go and meet my fellow coworkers,” I happily spoke to myself before stepping out of my room.

Fortunately, I was able to locate my way down the grand stairs on my own by examining the corridors and enormous hallways we took a while ago.

It was a good thing that there were provided black shoes for my maid uniform because I did not bring any shoes with me aside from my flats.

After I arrived at the kitchen, my eyes almost widened seeing a long straight line of numerous maids and butlers waiting for me.

I blinked my eyes several times before rubbing them again. All of the workers here looked like they went straight out of a romantic novel.

Some of them were blessed with beautiful bodies, and rare features of face and eyes, “A-Am I in the right place? I work for a billionaire as a maid, right?”

My question captured most of their attention before cupping their mouths as they chuckled. I bit my lower lip thinking that they might find me ignorant.

I decided to lower my head until my eyes found Judeo on the other side, who was also cupping his mouth before composing himself. Did I say something funny? They all looked like they were having a little bit of fun.

“Everyone, let us welcome Rosita Lauren, the new personal maid of Mr. Kiefer Dy Montefalco,” Judeo announced proudly.

‘That’s his name?’ I spoke inside of my mind amusingly. I have never heard such a breathtaking name before.

Judging by the sound of his name, I bet he has already reached a lot of impossible things I haven't reached yet.

I was suddenly distracted by the noises coming to my front before I could be completely lost in my overthinking.

All of the maids started clapping their hands, some of them almost looked like they were praying for me, and the rest of them even wished me luck.

“I hope you will really last long, I’m Pauline Terry, just call me Pau for short!” A brunette girl with yellow eyes approached me while offering her hands.

I happily accepted it and was comforted by the warmth coming from her hands, “T-Thank you, I’m Rosita, just Rosy for short,”

“Alright Rosy, would you like for me to tour you around the working area while waiting for the boss to arrive? I can teach you the basics around the mansion,” Pau playfully winked.

“Sure, that would be a big help,” I genuinely smiled and immediately thought that she was kind.

“Can we join you guys?” A handsome man with bright blue highlights of hair approached us together with a brown-haired one.

“Hello, Rosita! My name’s Edwin Conin,” The man with blue highlights in his hair waved his hands before winking.

“My name is Romeo Glisten, milady,” The brown-haired man took her hands and casually shook them, making her smile.

“I’m Rosita Lauren, you can call me Rosy for short,” I happily said before walking out of the kitchen with them.

She couldn’t remember some of the names of the maids that approached her, some of them just left and didn’t mind her.

“U-Um hey, before we proceed on you teaching my way around the mansion, did I make some of your people mad?” I inquisitively asked so they looked at her attentively.

“Mad? Who?” Pau curiously asked. Romeo then pointed at the group of ladies that was wearing slightly short skirts.

“O-Oh don’t mind them, they’re just confident that you won’t stay here that long,” Pau informed her.

“Huh? Why is that?” I probably looked confused right now, but they just looked at one another before sighing deeply.

“I really don’t want to scare you, but you’re the 143rd maid that has applied here,” Pau gave me a bright smile, which made my eyes widen.

“W-What? So, you mean to say…142 quit? But why?” I confusedly asked while shaking my head, “How long did the maids stay here?”

“You mean who stayed the longest? An hour,” Edwin casually replied. My eyes widened as I felt my jaw almost fall to the ground.

“T-That’s how long they stayed here?!” I exclaimed, which made them nod while scratching the back of their heads.

“Y-Yeah, we shouldn't have told her, right?” Edwin glanced at his friends before they decided to shake their heads.

“I-Is the master I’m going to serve that cruel?” I started doubting myself, flinching when Pau squeezed my hands.

“No, they just don't know how to serve him, but now that you have arrived, I believe something here will change,” She claimed.

The boys agreed with her, “Right, you’re unique from all of the 142 that have quit, there’s just something about you,” Edwin muttered.

I held my chest since their words cheered me up as they started to show me around the mansion to take down notes of their reminders.

From the looks of it, I knew that my keypad phone could never belong in this place since everything was being controlled by high technology.

“If the master already has everything, the music turns off and on with a voice detector, and someone is speaking somewhere around the house, why does he need a maid?” I inquisitively asked.

Pau smiled, “The master tends to forget things sometimes, he works numerous jobs, and has a duty on a pack–I-I mean another company,” She nervously laughed.

“I-Is that so?” I massaged my chin, “I think I’m confident that I would be able to help him, after all, I have crowned a genius once in my class back then,”

I didn’t mean to gloat about that, but it was the truth. I have finished my two-year course in college as one of their brightest students there.

“That’s the spirit, Rosy!” They cheered for me, making me chuckle because I can’t believe that I already gained friends inside the mansion.

Making friends was a little difficult for me back then because my only goal was to finish my studies and give back the help my aunt gave to me back then.

They didn’t bother approaching me as well because they were intimidated by my presence a lot because of how hard-working I was.

“Rosita? Are you with us?” Pau snapped her fingers right in front of me, making me flinch because I was surprised.

“A-Ah, I’m sorry, did I zone out?” I apologized shyly. Pauline just chuckled while shaking her head.

“Don’t be too bothered about it, shall we continue our tour? Those two looked like they’re eager to help you get used to your way around the mansion,” She told her while pointing at her friends.

I decided to look at them and noticed that they were arguing with each other about where they should take her first, but it was obvious that they were close to one another.

My heart raced as I felt the corner of my lips lifting while looking at them. I'm sure that I'll have a great time around the mansion.

I, therefore, reasoned that because these folks were kind, my future master might be as well.
