Mag-log inFreya’s POV
The sun was dripping through the woods in the morning, but I hardly felt the warmth. I was resolute despite the heavy heart that was doubtful.
Can't be serious," said Lucian, pacing in front of me. He was habitually calm, and now completely frustrated. It is a death warrant going back to the Blueblood Pack, Freya.
They must know what they are in for, I thought. They are in danger in case the vision was correct. I can not sit here and do nothing.
Lucian desisted in pacing and looked at me. His eyes, with their silver gaze, were fixed on mine. Why, after all they did to you? After Kane's stuff? Why risk your life for them?"
I choked on the thought of how Kane pushed me. Since it is the right thing to do. I cannot allow innocent lives to be killed, even when they do not deserve it.
Lucian shook his head and rolled his tongue. You are good-natured to yourself. When you come back, you will not receive a warm reception. They'll see you as a threat."
"I know," I whispered. "But I have to try."
He looked at me a moment or two, and then sighed. "Fine. You are going there, eh? You want me to go with you.
"No," I said quickly. They will look at you and suspect that I became one of the rogues. I gotta do this alone."
Lucian said a word, shook his head, and crossed his hands. "Don't die, Freya. You are much better than they will ever be.
His words lingered in the air, and I stiffened and turned and walked away in the direction of the road towards the Blueblood territory.
Back at the Blueblood Pack, Sophia was shadowing the meeting hall, with hands clasped. Liam, a rogue and a sharp-eyed black-haired man, leaned on the wall against her.
The Alpha is not paying attention, Sophia said with a voice of contempt. He is too consumed with ruminating over that poor Freya to see what is going on right under his nose.
Liam smirked. "You sure this plan will work?"
The lips of Sophia were smiling coldly. "Of course. His leadership is already questionable in the eyes of the council. It only requires one more impulse, and they will turn on him.
"And then?" Liam asked, tone curious.
Then I shall be Luna, as I should have been, you see, Sophia, shining in my eyes with the lust of ambition. And you will have what you will, territory and resources to your rogues.
Liam nodded, satisfied. Just see that you abide by your half of the bargain, Sophia. Rascals are not patient men.
Sophia waved him off. "Don't worry. It's all coming together, everything.
As Liam slipped off, Sophia tightened her eyes. Next, Kane, you will be an eyewitness to what transpires when you underestimate me.
My trek to the Blueblood land was quite painful and tedious, but my legs were frozen when I had only reached the fringe of the beloved forest. The thoughts came back with memories of years of servitude and humiliation and rejection.
I tightened my fists and forced myself to go onwards. It is not the same Freya that I am, I said to myself. "I'm stronger now."
It was so still in the forest with no birds or rustling leaves. I was almost jumping at the slightest break of a twig.
I came to the border closer as I reflected on Kane. Would he even listen to me? Or should he put me in the ditch all over again?
The air became colder as I approached the well-known landmarks, which indicate the boundary of the state of the pack. My heart ran wild in my bosom, and doubt gnashed at me.
As I went over the boundary, a pack of wolves came out of the shadows. Their eyes were glowing with suspicion, and their growls shivered down my spine.
"Who are you?" one of them ordered as he entered his human body.
"It's me," I said, voice trembling. "Freya."
The awareness came and went in his eyes and shifted to anger. "Freya? The Alpha rejected you. You're not welcome here."
"Wait!" I screamed when they were closing in on me. "I have a warning—"
I was hardly able to complete it when one of them struck me with sharp pain in my side. I dropped to the floor, choking.
"Take her to the Alpha, the leader snarled. Between him and her, leave him to make his own choice.
I was swept over the grounds of the pack, and the wolves were peering right out of me like knives. People talked behind my back, and all remarks were a cruel hint that I am not a full-fledged member of this.
The guards pushed me into the main hall when we entered it. And Kane was in full blast of the middle of it, with the presence that might squeeze me with his size. In his cold blue eyes, which looked on me, there were glimpses of shock and anger.
Freya, he said with a low, perilous voice. "What are you doing here?"
I sat up, and I did not think of the pain in my side. "I came to warn you. The pack is in danger."
His eyes were squinted, and his face could not be read. "Danger? From who?"
Rogues, I said, my voice steady though the fear in me. "They're planning an attack. You need to prepare."
Kane came near, and his eyes were roving over me. "And why should I believe you? You left this pack. You have no loyalty to us."
I was tightening my chest with his words, but I could not retreat. Believe me or not, but in case you do not pay attention to this, the results will be on your head.
Marcus had burst in the door before he could reply, and dashed towards the northern border.
Kane darkened in expression and looked at me. "If you're lying—"
No, I replied, I am not, and looked up with a will. "This isn't about you or you. It's about saving lives."
He looked at me for a long time and then shook his head. "Marcus, double the patrols. And watch her, said he, pointing at me.
When Marcus took me out of the hall, my heart sank with both relief and dread. I had given my warning; I now knew it was only the starting point.
A diabolical idea flashed into my mind as I was being brought to a little guarded room. The cold smile and the menacing glint in the eyes of the woman watching me in the shadows were not missed by Sophia.
This was evidently wrong, and I knew not how to prevent it.
Freya’s POVThe packhouse was so tense that I thought I could cut through it with a knife. In a tense silence, wolves milled about, their apprehensive stares interspersed with muttered discussions. With the weight of my increasing obligations bearing down on me, I stood by the window and gazed out at the trees.Kane said softly, "Freya," and entered the room. "He's present."He was standing near the door as I turned around, his face unreadable. Two of our soldiers were waiting in the common area with the enigmatic wolf that had escaped from Sophia's camp. With questions racing through my head, I followed Kane, my heart racing. The wolf appeared dishevelled, with his clothing ripped and his fur matted. Though he stood tall and defiant, his golden eyes darted nervously about the room. His voice was scratchy as he said, "My name is Darian." Although I was a member of Sophia's camp, I've had enough. I'd want to assist.Kane's eyes were icy as he crossed his arms. "Why should we have faith
Freya’s POVI was constantly pacing. Since Lucian had departed, the knot in my stomach had only become tighter. He had insisted on going even though his goal was suicidal."Kane, what's causing your composure?" I glared at him and demanded. His arms were folded as he leaned against the wall, his eyes calm but clouded."I'm not at ease," he said. "I just know that he won't benefit from panicking now."I felt like screaming. "He's out there by himself, avoiding unspeakable traps, all to undermine Sophia's power! Suppose something were to happen to him.Kane's tone becomes piercing. Freya, Lucian was aware of the dangers. He made his decision.I tightened my fists as I felt guilty. I was to blame for this. Had I not shoved him, had I not—My thoughts were ripped apart by the piercing crack of energy. I froze, grasping the edge of the table for balance as my head snapped up."What was that?" Even though I already knew, I whispered.Kane's features hardened as he straightened. "The artifac
Freya’s POVThe weight of what lay ahead made the morning air chilly. With his arms folded and a gloomy look on his face, Kane stood next to me at the training grounds. The pack crowded around us, their faces displaying a mixture of resolve and terror.Kane said, "We all know what we're up against," in a firm yet solemn tone. "Sophia won't give up until she ruins all we value. However, we will not let her. Families look out for one another, and this pack is our family. With my voice rising over the whispers, I took a step forward. "She's bringing everything she has, but we're also bringing everything." We are more powerful as a team than any adversary. Have faith in each other, in your training, and yourselves. This is something we can win.For the first time in days, I noticed optimism in their eyes as a wave of accord swept over the audience.“You have a way of inspiring them,” Kane said to me as the pack scattered to get ready.I gave a small smile. They motivate me. They are entit
Freya’s POVStill getting over the rogue attack and Sophia's betrayal, the pack remained in disarray. I saw injured pack members attempting to start over everywhere I looked. I felt guilty for their suffering, but I also felt a renewed sense of resolve.I saw some juvenile wolves rehearsing their positions as I was moving around the training grounds. Their motions were rigid and unsure."Cease! I yelled. They turned to face me and halted, their eyes widening."Freya? One of them, Lina, a young girl, inquired nervously."You're doing it completely incorrectly," I said as I moved forward. "You have too little footing. In a struggle, you'll lose your equilibrium.I adopted the appropriate posture and spoke in a forceful yet gentle tone. similar to this. Maintain an equal weight distribution and a small bend in your knees. Try again now.Their moves improved as they did what I instructed."That's all," I urged. "Better. Keep in mind that self-assurance is equally as vital as physical stre
Freya’s POVThe conflict left a cloud in its wake. The once-pristine Blueblood land was now scarred with destruction. As the sunrise painted the sky in pink and orange hues, I sat close to the training grounds' edge. However, the beauty didn't do much to calm my inner storm."What just took place over there? With my palms still tingling from the subtle remnants of the golden light, I said to myself.I was shocked to hear Kane's deep voice say, "Freya." I turned to see him approaching me with deliberate, cautious steps. Despite the bandage covering his side, he exuded vigour.I remarked, my voice trembling a little, "You should be sleeping."He responded strongly at first, then softer, "I'll rest when I know my pack is safe." "Freya, you accomplished something amazing. However, I must know... Are you aware of who you are?"I gave a headshake. "I don't. This strength... It appears it appeared suddenly. Kane, I have no control over it.His sharp eyes met mine as he knelt next to me. "We'
Freya’s POVThe air was clear and quiet in the early morning, the kind of quiet that raised the hairs on the back of my neck. After hearing Sophia and Liam's plans the previous evening, I was unable to sleep and stood close to the edge of the training fields."Freya! As he ran at me, one of the warriors yelled out. His eyes were wide and his voice sounded frantic. "The rogues are to blame! They have arrived!"My heart fell. It was too late to issue the warning.Howls reverberated through the Blueblood Pack area before I could respond. I turned to see the dark figures of rogues rising from the tree line, their eyes glimmering with a wild desire, and my stomach knotted."Come to the main house, everyone! Kane's words echoed loudly throughout the grounds. He had already transformed into a wolf, his enormous body a sign of power and authority. We were unprepared for such a massive attack, even though warriors rushed to construct a defensive line.I was paralyzed, caught between the urge t
