Chapter Thirty-Two

This time, the car ride to the date was quiet.

Laura was sitting up front in the passenger seat typing away on her phone. Unlike last time when Chase had been here, she was very much focused on what she was doing and wasn’t making any idle chit chat. She’d been very interested in small talk, then.

Much to my surprise, August wasn’t a part of the crew helping with the date today. For some reason I had felt blindsided when I got into the car and I didn’t see him. It was like he was just supposed to be there. I wonder if he had lost interest. Despite knowing that was for the best, I felt a little… lonely without him in the car. Chase was going around making some pretty strong claims about our ‘relationship,’ not to mention he’d been there for the actual date. Any sane guy wouldn’t want anything to do with that. Especially when we’d only been on one date so far. It’s not like we had a strong foundation to get us through me going out with a bunch of other guys; it only made sense for him

    “You should wear the white one. You always look so innocent and pretty in that color.” I glance at Chase, who was currently sitting in the corner of my bedroom at seven in the morning, ‘helping’ me pick out my outfit for today’s date with Victor. My alarm had gone off like normal, but a few minutes after it had, there had been a knock at my door. It was Chase, who had pushed his way in before I could protest and parked himself where he was now. He said he wanted to help me look my best for the cameras today. It was… weird. Very pushy, but I couldn’t figure out how I was supposed to get him out of my room. This was a social situation I had no idea how to navigate.
