3. Q&A with Daren

Valerie got off the bed and walked slowly towards the door of the room, which she knew very well was Lusi's room. As she was about to reach for the doorknob, the door immediately opened, followed by Daren, who emerged from there.

Valerie fell back on the floor because she remembered what happened to her before she fainted. There is a vampire who wants to harm her. And Daren?

Daren is a wolf. The man turned into a wolf right before her eyes.

Seeing Valerie's condition, Daren came closer, lifted the girl's body, and brought her back to the bed. He was still confused about how to behave in front of Valerie. Valerie saw it herself as he turned into a werewolf, so what should he do?

Valerie, who didn't take her eyes off Daren at all, could only stare at the man with so many questions swirling around in her head.

"What are you?" asked Valerie matter-of-factly.

Daren was silent at Valerie's question.

"I'm sure this isn't just my hallucination! You jumped and became a very big wolf!" shrieked Valerie with bulging eyes.

"Keep your voice down; they can hear it," Daren said casually.

They? The men who are always topless? They are wolves too? Valerie opened her eyes wide.

Valerie shuddered as she looked at the door.

"Hmm, maybe it's time to know everything. Yeah, you're right; what you saw wasn't just your hallucination! We are werewolves!" said Daren.

Valerie's brow creased with a confused look. Werewolves—doesn't something like that only exist in myths and movies? Did Daren play with her? No, Daren didn't look like he was joking, and the man had really turned into a wolf; she saw it with her own eyes.

"You guys for real?" Valerie asked doubtfully.

Daren smiled faintly, then nodded his head and said, "Don't worry, we won't hurt you. It's just that you have to promise to keep this a secret!"

Valerie took a deep breath and narrowed her eyes in confusion.

"You guys just let me go? Wow! Didn't I see your secret? I could have spread this story! Aren't you guys supposed to kill me or something?" asked Valerie stupidly.

Daren's head immediately throbbed with pain upon hearing Valerie's question.

"You want me to kill you?" asked Daren, annoyed.

"No!" said Valerie quickly.

"Then don't talk too much and just shut your mouth!" Daren growled.

Valerie still wanted to answer, but Daren raised his hand and signaled for Valerie to be quiet. Shortly after, the door opened again, and a man appeared from behind the door.

The tall, burly man walked slowly over to Daren and Valerie.

"How are you?" the man asked Valerie.

"She is fine!" Daren snapped before Valerie could respond.

"Daren, come on, there's nothing to worry about; don't get emotional like that!" exclaimed the man casually.

Valerie was silent, listening to Daren and Mark's conversation.

"Daren, you can change her to make things easier!" exclaimed Mark while glancing at Valerie with a meaningful look.

"We've discussed this before; I'm not going to do that!" Daren growled.

"She knows our secret!" said Mark quickly.

"I told you I would keep an eye on her!"

Mark looked straight at Daren. The two of them fell silent, stared at each other, and made the atmosphere very tense.

"It's only a matter of time; now or later, you will change her! It's not easy to control yourself in the heat! It will be easier for you and Valerie too." After saying that, Mark left the room.

The man-made Valerie's head throb. The girl tried to understand exactly what they were talking about. In heat time? What does Mark mean?

"Is he also a werewolf?" asked Valerie carefully.

Without saying anything, Daren just nodded in response.

"Are you going to bite me and turn me into a wolf?" shrieked Valerie with wide eyes.

Daren just sighed and immediately flicked Valerie's forehead, making the girl groan in pain.

"What are you thinking? I won't do that!" Daren exclaimed, annoyed.

"Then what were you two discussing earlier? That man asked you to change me!" said Valerie.

"And if you have listened carefully, I have vehemently refused his request! Never mind, just forget what you saw and heard!" Daren returned to his seat and leaned his back against the chair.

Valerie fell silent, her brow furrowed, trying to think straight.

What is she involved with? Werewolves? Are they real?

"I don't know how to react; I'm still very confused. This... You shouldn't be real," Valerie muttered while looking at Daren closely.

"You can pretend it's not real to make it more comfortable!" Daren said it casually.

Valerie scowled in annoyance.

"Can you explain what really happened? Why did you suddenly stop and run into the forest when there were so many strange creatures in there? Are they really vampires? They drink human blood?"

Daren took a deep breath at Valerie's question. To be honest, he didn't know which one to answer first.

"There were vampires crossing our territory, so Mark brought the rest of the pack to hunt them down. It seemed they were overwhelmed, so I ran into the forest to help them! Who would have thought you'd come in too? You almost became their food!" Daren glanced cynically at Valerie.

"Hey, explain in more detail; I don't understand what you're talking about! Mark bring the rest of the pack? What pack? Wolf pack?" Valerie exclaimed, annoyed.

"This isn't the time for you to know more about us. Now we have to get out of here," Daren said as he stood up.

Valerie nodded quickly. Yeah, she should get out of there soon. She had to clear her mind, which was so messed up now. Especially with Mark's words urging Daren to change her.

As she stepped towards the door, Valerie fell to the floor. She didn't know why her knees were suddenly so weak.

"You must be very surprised," Daren muttered as he approached Valerie. The man then crouched in front of Valerie, who was still slumped on the floor.

"What are you doing?" asked Valerie, confused.

"I'll take you to find a rented house; get on my back!" Daren said this without looking at Valerie.

"I'm not as light as you think!" said the girl quickly.

"Why do you always make a big deal about everything? Hurry up and go up before more werewolves come to this place to see you! After all, I was the one who brought you here when you passed out; I know very well how heavy you are!" Daren exclaimed, annoyed.

Hearing Daren's words, Valerie immediately jumped onto Daren's back and wrapped her arms tightly around his neck.

"Fast!" cried Valerie frantically.

Daren just smiled thinly and immediately took Valerie out of the room. When the girl saw the living room filled with burly men, she immediately buried her head in Daren's back and closed her eyes tightly.

"Are you sure you don't want to change her? Or do you want me to change her for you? You know, the smell is so intoxicating!" shouted one of the men there.

"Shut your mouth!" Daren said as he walked away from the house.

Valerie tightened her grip on Daren.

"Don't worry, no one will dare to hurt you while you're with me!" Daren exclaimed as he walked quickly.

Valerie peeked over Daren's shoulder and breathed a sigh of relief that they had left the house.

"Daren, there are a few things that I'm curious about; would you like to answer them?" asked Valerie quietly.

"It depends," Daren said casually.

Daren kept walking with steps as light as cotton and as fast as the wind.

"Why did that guy over there call me smelly?" asked Valerie, confused.

Even though Valerie didn't take a shower this morning, she was pretty sure that her body didn't stink at all. Then why did the man say she smelled and made him drunk?

Daren chuckled softly at the girl's question.

"Your pheromones are too strong, especially last night. It's no wonder they immediately lost control. I thought only I could smell it; they can too. This is very strange," Daren said casually.

Valerie's brow furrowed. She had no idea what Daren was talking about.

"What are pheromones?" asked Valerie innocently.

This time it wasn't a low chuckle that came out of Daren's mouth, but a very annoying, loud laugh.

"You can look for it on the internet," Daren said casually.

Valerie scowled in annoyance.

"Daren, so... how long have you been a werewolf?" asked Valerie quietly.

"When I was seventeen," Daren said casually.

"Did a werewolf bite you? How did it feel?"

Daren stopped walking, then looked back to see Valerie's face.

"Not all werewolves were created; there are so many werewolf classifications: purebred, half, bitten, and so on. And not everyone who is bitten by a werewolf can become one of us. You have to be strong enough; most of them die," explained Daren.

Valerie turned her face away, pushing Daren's face back to the front, before finally taking a deep breath.

"Don't do it again!" cried Valerie with a beating heart.

"Do what?" asked Daren, confused.

"Staring at me from that close! You make it hard for me to breathe! How can I digest what you're saying if you make my heart feel tight like this?" grunted Valerie.

Daren was silent for a few moments; he then chuckled softly and walked back through the forest.

"Are you always like this?" Daren asked casually.

"Like what?"

"Say whatever is on your mind!"

"Hmm, let's say I'm fussy. Well, you should be proud that I'm not this fussy with other people!" Valerie exclaimed while looking around.

"Yeah, such an honor." Daren smiled mockingly.

"So, what are you? Purebred Werewolves? Bitten Werewolves? Or... Some kind of Lycans?" asked Valerie enthusiastically.

"I'm a purebred," Daren said casually.

"Then you must be the perfect alpha! I've read books about wolves, and their obedience to alphas is absolute. Yeah, something like that. Well, are you really the pack leader or something? Did you lead them? The werewolves?"

Daren took a deep breath and walked faster. Having someone to share stories with is fun enough, but if Valerie is the one, then everything turns complicated and troublesome.

"Why are you silent?" asked Valerie, confused.

"We're almost there; if possible, walk alone; if people see me carrying you, I'll be in trouble!" Daren exclaimed casually.

Valerie got off Daren's back and tried to walk when they were almost on the main road.

A car was parked neatly on the other side of the road. Daren also accompanied Valerie to find a rental house. A house that is relatively small but quite comfortable and modern is the perfect choice for Valerie.

Daren paid for everything; he even ordered home appliances, clothes, and food for Valerie via his cell phone.

"You know what? There are so many questions currently swirling in my head; there are so many things I want to know. I'll look for you, and we can talk later," Valerie said, glaring at Daren.

"You won't be able to find me. And it's good that this is our last meeting!" Daren said quickly.

Valerie's face immediately changed. She approached Daren and stared at the man with death's eyes.

"I will find you! I will do whatever it takes to find you! Just watch!" Valerie exclaimed with confidence.

Daren smiled broadly. He was looking forward to their next meeting. Can Valerie really find him? He was sure that Valerie would not be able to find his base. So, if it wasn't for Daren who met Valerie, she wouldn't be able to find him.

"Yeah, let's see if you can find me! Good luck!" After saying that, Daren left Valerie's house.
