Chapter One

Kennedy nodded her head after tasting the cookies from the plate. She was glad it was not as bad as she expected.

She was about to put the cookies in the small pouch when her nanny approached her.

"Who else will you give that to, my lady?"

Stunned, Kennedy was suddenly speechless for a moment. She blushed and averted her gaze.

"I-I made some cookies for my father. Will he like it, nanny? " She lied.

Her nanny said, "I'm sure the lord will like whatever you give, my lady," and then smiled at her.

"I hope so," Kennedy says, his mouth twisting into a wry grin.

She was nervous; she didn't know if Duncan would like the cookies she had made for him. But that's not her only problem, because she didn't know how she could sneak these cookies to give to Duncan without anyone's notice.

When Kennedy found out that Duncan liked anything sweet, she tried her best to learn how to bake.

'I'm not going to lose to some omega that has liked him too.

"Nanny Lora, is my father in his office?"

'I guess visiting my father would be fine. I also have a few things I need to discuss with him. '

"Yes, my lady."

It's been a while since Kennedy visited her father at his office, who was always busy with their mining and leading the pack. In addition, her father is facing another problem.

There were reported missing Omegas, not only in their pack but in the other pack as well, and the council had already investigated the incident. This is a common problem for every leader of the pack.

Omega, who was weak, was always a target for rogues and black organizations.

Everyone was aware of what would happen to Omega if it fell into the hands of the black market or a rogue. They'll be sold and become slaves, and some will be abused physically or sexually by the owner's hands.

The royal family won't interfere with this and will just let the pack leader handle and solve the case.

That's because even though there's a law accepting the omega as part of society, the royal family is still not fully accepting the omega. It

all started during the reign of Emperor Donovan when his favorite queen was an omega, caught cheating and attempting to poison the emperor. The queen was executed for treason.

His rage against the queen who poisoned him did not end when he declared that no omega would be allowed into his palace. Society starts to look down on the omegas and treat them as outcasts.

After taking a shower, Kennedy wears her favorite creampink dress. She waits for her hair to dry first before tying it into a messy bun. She looked herself in the mirror before she finally left her room.

* * * * * *

Kennedy was already in front of her father's office when she saw her mother walking around. Her direction was coming towards her.

Every time she saw her mother, she was automatically startled.

Who will not be frightened by seeing their mother? Almost every servant in the castle was afraid to look at the Luna of the Silver Cross pack. Her mother was not alone; she was with her two trusted attendant ladies. Omega Allyson and Omega Julia.

As she watched her mother walk closer, she became even more uneasy; her heart wanted to run fast. It was still fresh in Kennedy's mind what her mother did to her ten years ago. She felt stiffened and could not even move a bit. Still, Kennedy managed to compose herself in front of her mother, the Luna of the Silver Cross pack.

She lowered her head and said, " Greetings to Katherine, Luna of the Silver Cross pack." From a distance, she could see how fast the servant ran to avoid the luna.

She felt uncomfortable because Katherine was currently in front of her; she still lowered her head and waited for her mother's response. She smells the fragrant oil that her mother loves to use after taking a bath.

"Lift your head."

She was reluctant to follow her mother, but Kennedy had no choice but to slowly lift her head and face her mother. As she watched Katherine closer, Kennedy couldn't help but feel envious at the same time, admiring the beauty of her mother.

Katherine had a shapely figure; her waist was small, and she had glossy white skin. Her mother has ruby-red hair that flaunts over her shoulders. What she likes about her mother is her enticing, forest-green eyes; too bad she didn't inherit her mother's lovely eyes. Kennedy is well aware that she is far different from her mother's beauty. Her face was plain; her brown hair was dry. Her brown eyes were something common in the packs. Kennedy starts to doubt herself if she is Katherine Arandelle's daughter, since she does not even resemble her father.

Kennedy feels the bitterness.

How could this woman attempt to kill her child?

She almost died when she was young because Katherine pushed her into the lake ten years ago. How could she forget the incidents? Those who witnessed what Luna did to her child until now, no one was still wanted to speak about it.

How could they not be afraid?

Before Katherine became a Luna and the wife of Hendrick Arandelle, Katherine was the only daughter of the former Leader Alpha Artemio and Luna Cassandra of the Silver Cross pack.

"What' brings you here, Kennedy?" Katherine asks in a cold and sharp tone.

She was stunned for a moment before she proceeded to speak. She knows her mother is short-tempered.

"I-I came here to give Father the snack I made," she said while clutching the pouch she was holding. She was not comfortable talking with Katherine, and she hoped her mother would leave her soon. "

"Give? What? That filthy thing in your hand? " She saw Katherine glance at the small pouch, then raised her eyebrow and formed a smirk.

She was sweating, and her feet were shaking. Suddenly, Katherine slowly moved an inch and whispered in her ear. "Make sure you'll get the best Alpha you want. What else did you do to become my daughter if you didn't have him in your palms? Don't forget that your mother will help you."
