Chapter Four

Her father stood up from his seat. It was as if Kennedy had sworn a curse that made her father violently react.

"Why can't I choose my mate in the pack?" She wanted to throw a fit.

"It's not that I don't want you to choose your mate in our pack. "

Kennedy stared at his father.

On the other side...

Hendrick already knew what was on her daughter's mind: The moment her daughter mentioned that she was choosing her mate in our pack, he knew who might be that bastard who caught his daughter's attention, and Hendrick must oppose it no matter what.

"Are you trying to sell me off?"

That's the only reason Kennedy can think of.

"No! I'm not going to do that to you. What made you think of that? " Hendrick really wants is to protect her from that man who may be using her.

She looked away. "How does father different from mother? You also want to get rid of me. Is that your plan when you ask me to choose my mate?" Kennedy couldn't help but raise her voice to her father.

'I'm not going to cry,' Kennedy said to herself.

She didn't notice her father walking closer to her. "Even though you didn't tell me who this man you're interested in and wanted to be your mate. I was able to figure out that he was Duncan DelaMerce, the man who saved you when you were young. Is your father right? "

Kennedy's mouth fell open wide in shock.

"H-How does father know?"

She remembered that she had not told anyone except for her old friend, who was not here. The man she has liked since she was young. Is that how obvious she was about having a liking for Duncan?

She hides her face by lowering her head.

Because little did Kennedy know that her father, who she thought did not care for her, had instructed someone to find out everything, including what she was doing or the person she was going to meet with. Her father was also the one who personally picked the maids for her. They report everything to  and don't miss a single detail. Every time Kennedy goes at night to shift into a wolf, someone keeps an eye on her father.

Kennedy was safe to roam around, even at night, because someone was watching over her.

Kennedy glance at her father after inhaled deeply. "How do you know that I like Alpha Duncan?" Her father did not answer her. Instead, she felt his warm embraces coming from him. He lightly patted her back and caressed her head. Her father never did this to her when she was a child.

The way he was patting her back was giving her some light comfort.

Her mother was hating her because she couldn't use her because of her father, who never showed any interest in her.

"It's better if you turned your feelings over to someone who could love you back. I don't want to see you hurt because of him. " There was a hardness in the tone when Hendrick said it to her daughter.

"But how can you be sure, father, that the man you choose for me will... love me?" Kennedy asked and raised her head to his father.

Hendrick didn't tell her daughter that the fifth prince had liked her at first sight, and it was only an alibi that the prince picked Hendrick as his personal instructor. The prince confessed not long ago. And Hendrick told the prince that if his feelings for his daughter did not change, he would give his blessing to him to be his daughter's mate.

Among those alpha who asked for her daughter's hands from him. It was only the fifth prince that made Hendrick ease his mind.

He knew he would love and take care of her daughter.

And going back to the Alpha that his daughter liked, If Hendrick didn't know the young Alpha's intention when he saved her daughter years ago, he would have been the perfect Alpha mate for Kennedy. And he will be happy to die and leave this world at peace because he knows the pack was in good hands because there was someone he trusted to lead the pack, and he could also protect her daughter when he is gone. However, things change when Hendrick investigates the young Alpha who saves her daughter and learns about his background.

Duncan DelaMerce was connected to Lucia—the woman he had loved and his fated mate. But it's not the only one he notices.

He learned that Duncan was raised in the pack where he first met Lucia. But DelaMerce... the first thing that comes to his mind is whether he was related to someone he knew—Malvin DelaMerce.

He was his comrade who became a traitor and almost killed him during the war.

Duncan told him everything when he confronted him, including that he had a daughter named Elise. But he never mentioned whether he was related to Malvin DelaMerce. When Lucia died, Duncan said that he was the one who took care of Elise and hid his other daughter somewhere to protect her from her wife.

Hendrick had no idea that he had another child. But when his wife also knew about Elise and was looking for her, Hendrick doesn't want to think badly, but he knows Katherine might be capable of doing so once she finds his child.

If Katherine can hurt her own child... how much more if this is his child with Lucia.

Duncan said to him that he was willing to show him where he hid Elise. In exchange, he wants the Silver Cross pack.

The cunning wolf who lived with the Rogue became one of those. He had the audacity to use his daughter, whom he had never seen, to make a deal with him.

In the end, he agreed. In exchange, he will keep her daughter safe.

"There's no way! I will love someone... He was the only man I wanted to be my mate's father..." Kennedy looked up, her eyes pleading like she was asking for a piece of candy from him.

You're just like your mother. hard-headed and stubborn. Not everything you want, you will get. Hendrick only said it in his mind.
