Chapter Two

A few minutes have passed since her mother left. And the things her mother said kept coming to Kennedy's mind.

What does her mother mean by saying those?

Kennedy shook her head as she continued to walk to her father's office.

However, Kennedy's main concern was her wolf; she'd been in a grumpy mood ever since she saw Katherine.

She tried to calm her down.

She doesn't want to think badly, but if her mother stayed longer, the worst might happen; she might assault Katherine in case she suddenly shifts into a wolf. She was well aware that her wolf despises her mother and that seeing Katherine irritates her. She knew how her wolf craved to tear apart her mother.

As much as possible, Kennedy must prevent hurting her mother by any chance, or else she will face heavy punishment from the council once the Luna of the pack gets harmed while in her wolf form.

Kennedy understands how her wolf feels. She was not the only one who remembered how cruel and terrible her mother was, but her wolf too.

Kennedy was turning eighteen this month. Until she can't fully control her wolf when it comes out, she fears that something terrible might happen to them.

She doesn't remember some details when she was in her wolf form, but every time she wakes up in an unfamiliar place, something strange happens, just like the other day. Kennedy wakes up soaked in blood all over her body and the thing she wondered about. Aside from the heavy pain she felt, there was no single wound she got.

Maybe she was lucky enough that something bad did not happen to her while in her wolf form.

About the bodies that the "Sentinel" found in our pack.

Who might they be? The Sentinel said they are not one of the packs.

It is not yet known who killed them, but the Sentinel continued to investigate the incident.

If those are connected to the missing omega, Kennedy feels goosebumps knowing how unsafe the situation is now.

Kennedy could not help but worry about her safety. What if someone from the outside knew her mark as "Luna" while wandering around? Her life would be in danger.

She knew that there were not only "rogues" surrounding the pack's territory that were waiting for the chance to capture her.

Kennedy took a deep breath and was about to knock, but the door opened just in time.

For a moment, Kennedy was stunned and speechless. Instead of her father's secretary, who opened the door for her, the one in front of her was none other than Duncan, the Alpha that made her heart flutter.

"I- I..." She was having a difficult moment when it was hard to speak a single word to the person in front of her.

The man that Kennedy had feelings for a long time. But now, while she looks at this handsome face, she feels anxious, and her head goes blank, waiting for the words to come out of his mouth.

Kennedy's smile slowly faded; her body was trembling.

What if she suddenly faints in front of this man?

Seeing him is always new to her. There's a butterfly feeling. She was getting anxious that she wanted to run so fast.

He was tall, and his shoulders were broad. He's the perfect definition of the "Alpha" that most of the females in their packs wish to be their mate. Even though this man looked even more fearless, Kennedy couldn't help but fall in love with him deeper...

She was nervous that she had forgotten to say "Hello" to him. Just like it always happens. When it's him, her mind becomes disoriented and she can't process her brain correctly.

She didn't know what to say and was shocked when Duncan suddenly lowered her head.

"Greetings to the Lady and the pack's future Luna."

Honestly, she didn't understand what he said.

"A-ah... No! You don't need to do that! Lift your head. " Kennedy was embarrassed; her face was turning red. "Future Luna?"

Kennedy hurriedly approaches his father, who was busy reading the document.

When Kennedy turned around, Duncan was no longer there. The door was closed. Only Kennedy and her father were there in the office.

"Kennedy, you may sit," still not looking at her and continuing with what he was doing. Kennedy was used to her father's cold and silent treatment.

There's nothing new about how her parents treat her. At least, her father doesn't show how much he dislikes her, unlike her mother, who always frowns and always shows her a disgusted face, and how she hates the fact that she did not conceive of another child because of her.

Where on earth is a mother blaming her child because she can't conceive? Too bad she was born to be a frustrated reenactment of her mother.

"Good that you were here. If you hadn't come to my office first, I would have asked Lora to call you. What brought you here, anyway? "

"Nothing, father, I just want to give you the cookies I made." Her father only glanced at the cute pouch that Kennedy placed on his table. Inside of the pouch were the cookies that Kennedy had baked.

"Take this."

Naturally, Kennedy was curious about what the folder might hold, so she opened it and read every single page. This was a little surprising. Her brows slowly wrinkled as she thought of what she had read.

The things that she read were different profiles and names of people. Some she knew, some she hadn't even met yet.

"What is this, father? Why was Prince Alastair Breckenridge here on the list? "
