"What do you think about the fifth prince?" Kennedy turned abruptly, surprised at her father's question.

 

"I'm sorry, B-but I don't understand. Why are you suddenly asking me about the prince's father? " For a moment, Kennedy looks confused.

 

She met the fifth prince when she was only twelve, and she learned that her father would become the fifth prince's instructor. It was an honor for a pack to be chosen by one member of the royal family. And because of that, our pack also became the target of the other prince who wanted the throne.

 

She inhaled deeply and waited for her father's response. Only then did Kennedy realize what her father meant.

 

"N-no way! Don't tell me, father, you wanted me to choose my mate from that list?" Shaking her head, she couldn't believe it. She stared at the documents she had put down on the table.

 

"What's the problem with that? You will be turning eighteen in the next few months. Before they discover you as 'Luna,' I want you to choose your mate. You'll need someone who can protect you. "

 

"A-and you think the fifth prince is the most suitable partner for me?" Her eyes were a bit cloudy and she looked like she was in tears. Her lips almost bled, preventing her from crying in front of her father.

 

"I don't see any men that would be perfect for you?" 

 

"There he was, and that man is in our pack!' Kennedy wanted to say.

 

When was the last time her father cared for her? Why should he get involved in his daughter's choice of a partner?

Or they believe once she gets married to any of them, the pack will automatically pass on them.

 

'So, Father, do you think choosing a prince is best for me?

 

Kennedy wanted to make a protest, but it seemed her father had already made up her mind. "Prince Alistair may not come after the throne, but he can protect you as his mate."

 

'But I don't have feelings for him!' She wanted to throw a fit.

 

Luna is rare among the pack. They are called as "blessed child" and possess healing ability. They'll become important and need protection in every pack. There are very few Lunas in the pack. The majority of them are served in the goddess temple to offer their protection and guidance to their pack. Alpha was willing to kill to mate with them. For protection, other Lunas take multiple mates as partners. But in some cases, they die at the hands of their alpha partner, who doesn't want to share their mate with others.

 

To her dismay, she tried to reread the documents, but the name she was hoping to see there was not on the list.

 

Why was he not included here? Other than looking outside for her suitable partner, should her father consider her partner to be in our pack?

 

What will she expect? Her feelings for Duncan are one-sided. There are a lot of women in the pack that also want him to be their mate. They're more beautiful than she is, much stronger, and not clumsy. They are perfect to be partners with someone like Duncan, who will lead the pack in the future.

 

The silence fills the room before Kennedy speaks.

 

"Will you give me time to think about it, father?" It seems that it never crosses her father's mind to choose Duncan as her mate.

 

Kennedy has in mind that, no matter what, she will be the one who chooses her mate.

 

Every time she went to the temple, the holy place that was built for the moon goddess Selene, Kennedy always prayed that Duncan would be her destined mate.

 

What if the Alpha you liked was not your fated mate? Her wolf suddenly asked while Kennedy was in deep thought.

 

Kennedy doesn't think she could accept the idea of seeing Duncan with someone. Just thinking about it made her heart crush into pieces.

Kennedy never asks her wolf about what she feels towards the man she likes.

 

It doesn't matter if I have feelings for your alpha or not. The more important thing is how you feel about him. If it turns out, he will not be your fated mate. We'll do everything to make him yours.

 

Kennedy's trembled at what her wolf said. The way her wolf said it, it's like she'll be willing to kill someone for her to have Duncan.

 

"Is there another Alpha that you like, Kennedy?" Her father caught her attention. She cut off her conversation with her wolf. 

 

Kennedy looked away as if she had gotten her tongue tied; she didn't know how to say in front of his father that the man she wanted to become her mate was the man her father treated as his son.

 

"W-What if there is someone that I like to be my mate?" Kennedy stared at his father.

 

"Then we will arrange your marriage as soon as possible. Which pack does he have? I don't mind if he came from a weak—"

 

"He's one of the Alphas from our pack, father." She said to her father without batling an eye.

 

She gulped when she saw her father's expression.

 

Kennedy jumped in surprise when his father slammed the table.
