Chapter 1

I walked back to my room. Half an hour later, Lucien arrived—freshly showered and dressed in a sharp black suit.

He remained tall, commanding. His jacket was perfectly tailored, yet it highlighted a cold, aristocratic air. So much so that he still seemed like the restrained gentleman I had once fallen for.

"Where have you been?" Lucien asked urgently. "The warriors told me you never went to patrol the pack borders. You didn’t answer my calls, and you shut me out of our mindlink."

I didn’t answer him, only turned to step away.

Then he noticed my pale face, gently touching my cheek as his voice grew even more anxious. “What really happened? Why do you look so terrible?”

I hid the miscarriage papers and told him it was nothing, just a chill.

He leaned in to kiss my cheek. I turned away subtly and asked why he had come.

"Silly," he said, tapping the tip of my nose with playful affection. "Tomorrow marks five years since our bonding. I want to throw you an anniversary celebration."

I told him not to bother—old couples like us didn’t need such gestures.

His smile faded briefly. A flicker of uncertainty crossed his face. "What time did you get back?" he asked, watching me closely.

"Just three minutes ago," I said flatly.

He relaxed visibly and tried to kiss me again. His voice dropped to a whisper near my ear. "I actually have a surprise for you tonight. You’ll love it."

From eighteen to twenty-five—two years in love, five years married—Lucien had given me so many surprises. And until that day, I truly believed I was the luckiest woman alive, envied by every she-wolf in the pack.

I was the Beta’s daughter of the Gilded Moon Pack. Lucien, our Alpha, and I had grown up together. At eighteen, the Moon Goddess herself declared us mates. Everything felt destined. Even when my parents died in battle three years ago—a loss that shattered me—Lucien’s presence helped me heal. I still believed my life was blessed, complete.

Until that day.

On the very morning I had planned to tell him I was pregnant during our anniversary celebration, a message from Irina destroyed everything.

The photo showed her in sheer lingerie, sprawled across the bed in her Omega maid’s quarters. Her text read: May I come to your room tonight? Same as always. But I promise I’ll be even hotter this time.

I scrolled up. Their chat was filled with explicit exchanges.

Once, after Lucien and I had made love in his bed, Irina had taken my place the very next morning—same sheets, same position—while I was tending the garden downstairs.

Lucien’s response to that: So thrilling. You never fail to surprise me, Irina.

I had no idea what he replied to her that day. I only knew that when he saw her message on his phone—left carelessly on the coffee table—he sent me out into the midday sun to patrol the pack borders.

He wanted me gone.

I went. A desperate part of me still hoped he would call me back, confess everything before I walked out.

He didn’t.

My heart broke. The moment I stepped outside, a cramp tore through my lower abdomen. I hailed a cab to the pack infirmary, where the pack healer told me I had lost the child.

As cold instruments scraped inside me, silent tears of despair washed everything away.

I swore then I would let go of every last hope, every last love I still held for Lucien.

I would leave him and everything about him behind. Forever.

Now, Lucien kissed me again, guiding me toward the bed. His hands slid over my curves, his voice rough with desire.

"Let’s try something new," he murmured. "You’ll use a toy, back turned to me. I’ll take you from behind. I won’t stop, and you won’t let go of that vibrator—that’s our pact. What do you say?"

My stomach turned.

It was the same position he had just used with Irina.

I pushed him away, disgust tightening my throat.

"In the days to come, you will be blissfully happy—I am certain of it, Gaia."Helena's words were so firm. I was sure an ancient Grand Sorceress never lied. But was my heart truly ready for new love? I wasn't sure.I only knew that my career was the most important thing to me at that moment. So, I soon arranged a meeting with one of the nation's most revered medical research doctors.Three days later, as I sat at the head of the conference table during a seminar focused on my work, I overheard the hushed whispers of several doctors. "That Alpha from the Gilded Moon is quite lucky. Just as he lost his wolf due to the heavy blows to his career and love life, a life-saving potion emerges."Lucien had lost his wolf? How did that happen?During a break, I listened more carefully. From their conversation, I learned that Lucien's betrayal of me had caused his wolf, Clovis, great dissatisfaction. Clovis had voluntarily withdrawn his powerful wolf essence, falling into a permanent slumber.A fe

By then, I had already followed Helena to the deepest reaches of the Blood Moon Forest. Everything here related to ancient, mystical sorcery fascinated me. I threw myself into my research almost immediately. All that I had experienced in the Gilded Moon Pack felt like a dream from a past life, utterly disconnected from who I was in this present moment. After nearly a month of secluded study, I stumbled upon an ancient healing method that could be immensely beneficial. It promised not only to restore my wolf but also to grant me the ability to conceive again.I was overjoyed. I quickly dedicated myself to focused research on this technique. It's important to know that countless werewolves lose their wolves to accidents every year, condemned to live in perpetual agony—like cancer patients, fading helplessly toward death. But if I could perfect this formula, I could save them. And, of course, myself.Another month passed. When I finally emerged from my seclusion, I had successfully develo

Lucien picked up the miscarriage papers, staring at the words in utter disbelief. In that moment, he finally understood everything. So, while he and Irina were lost in their passion, I was lying alone on a cold operating table, allowing cold instruments to enter my weakened body, removing our child. It was our only child, possibly the only pup I could ever have in this lifetime. But he had killed it. He hadn't even seen its face.Lucien completely broke down. He collapsed onto the floor, clutching the papers tightly in his hand, his eyes turning crimson. The guests had all returned to the banquet hall, and only a few of Lucien's close friends remained in the room when Irina finally dared to approach. She linked her arm with his and sat beside him. "What outrageous thing has Luna said now? You mustn't take it to heart. I'm sure she didn't mean it..."As she spoke, her gaze fell upon the miscarriage papers. In an instant, her words froze. All the clever, varied ways she usually had to sl

At the bonding anniversary celebration, Lucien stood on the ceremonial platform, about to invite me personally in front of all the guests, when he was suddenly seized by a violent pain in his heart. Our mate bond severed at that very moment.Lucien collapsed to his knees on the floor in agony, veins bulging on his forehead, cold sweat streaming down. Just then, he received the divorce notification email from the Werewolf Alliance Council.Lucien stared at his phone, his gaze deadly, and in that moment, he finally understood what I had been hiding from him these past few days.He abandoned all the guests and rushed desperately toward my room, wanting to mend things with me. But upon throwing the door open, he found the room empty and devoid of my presence; I was long gone.Just then, Irina approached. She wore a haute couture evening gown unbefitting her status, and the shallow mark of their mutual claiming still lingered on the nape of her neck—but the mark was faint. She was not Luci

"Gaia, are you alright? I was looking for you all last night, but you had locked your door," Lucien asked softly from outside.I did not answer him. At that moment, I only wanted to leave.Lucien paused at the door for a moment, then asked with concern, "Are you angry with me? Because I didn't come back to you immediately after seeing Irina to her room?"He still thought me a fool.Because after I lost my wolf, all my sensory abilities—my sight, hearing, and smell—had degraded, just like an ordinary human's. He believed I couldn't hear anything from the second floor, any sounds of them making love.I covered my face with my hands, rubbing my eyes, wiping away the last trace of tears. My Mate, Lucien, had died the very second we marked each other. The person standing outside my door now, I did not know him.He was not worth my tears.I went to the bathroom and washed my face, making myself appear calm and composed.Lucien was still waiting outside. He apologized sincerely, "I promised y

Even though I told myself countless times that in less than seventy-two hours, I would be free, my heart still couldn't find complete peace. I tossed and turned in bed until, at one in the morning, I could bear it no longer. I threw off the covers, got up, and quietly made my way downstairs.I had no intention of interrupting their lovemaking—confronting them like a jealous wife wasn't my style. So, I just went to the kitchen, as quietly as possible, and poured myself a glass of water. It was then I noticed that all the servants in the Alpha's villa still hadn't returned—it seemed Lucien had ordered them to take time off.In the deep silence of the night, a high-pitched moan came from the maid's room not far from the kitchen. "Oh… Alpha, more… please…"Immediately, her mouth was muffled, all sound choked back into her desire-thickened throat.Lucien's voice grew low and dangerous. "I warned you, be quiet.""If you dare let Gaia know about us, I'll kill you."What Irina said or did next
