Chapter 4

作者: Aurelia
Even though I told myself countless times that in less than seventy-two hours, I would be free, my heart still couldn't find complete peace. I tossed and turned in bed until, at one in the morning, I could bear it no longer. I threw off the covers, got up, and quietly made my way downstairs.

I had no intention of interrupting their lovemaking—confronting them like a jealous wife wasn't my style. So, I just went to the kitchen, as quietly as possible, and poured myself a glass of water.

It was then I noticed that all the servants in the Alpha's villa still hadn't returned—it seemed Lucien had ordered them to take time off.

In the deep silence of the night, a high-pitched moan came from the maid's room not far from the kitchen. "Oh… Alpha, more… please…"

Immediately, her mouth was muffled, all sound choked back into her desire-thickened throat.

Lucien's voice grew low and dangerous. "I warned you, be quiet."

"If you dare let Gaia know about us, I'll kill you."

What Irina said or did next, I couldn't hear. I only heard, seconds later, a satisfied groan rumble from Lucien's throat. It seemed Irina had once again conquered him with her sensual body.

I was curious. I told myself this was perhaps just human nature, not because I was Lucien's Mate—I convinced myself it wasn't jealousy, just normal curiosity. Before I knew it, I found myself standing outside Irina's door.

It was slightly ajar, left with a gap perfectly sized for viewing, as if someone had deliberately lured me there.

I saw Lucien leaning back on the sofa beneath the window, facing me—but his head was thrown back, his muscular chest rising and falling with the movements of the red-haired woman kneeling on the floor.

Irina first took ice into her mouth to pleasure him, then spat it out and switched to warm water, repeating the process. Lucien's deep eyes were hooded, filled with raw desire.

A wave of nausea hit me. I felt vomit rise in my throat. I couldn't watch any longer. Clinging to the last shreds of my composure, I maintained my silent steps and quickly fled back toward the stairs.

"I won't let Luna know, Alpha, I swear… even though I'm already carrying your child." Irina's intoxicated voice followed me.

I didn't make it back to my room in time. The overwhelming urge to vomit forced me to find the nearest guest room, located to the left of the stairs on the first floor. I rushed into its bathroom, collapsed before the toilet, and retched silently.

Having eaten barely anything all day, I only brought up bitter bile. Tears streamed down my face with each heave, but I dared not make a sound.

Before I left, I wanted no more discussions with Lucien, especially not about his infidelity.

Yet, they offered me no mercy. Soon, I heard Lucien's voice, still thick with desire but now softened. "Good girl… As long as you're obedient, you can have it."

"After all… Gaia lost her wolf. As a werewolf, it's already very difficult for her to conceive."

Painful tears engulfed me. I slumped onto the cold bathroom floor, hugging my knees, biting down hard on the back of my hand. I shouldn't have saved him three years ago. I shouldn't have!

I lost my wolf saving him, and now he used that to humiliate me. Uncontrollably, I thought of my little child that never got to see this world. I knew it might have been my only child.

And Lucien killed it—without even knowing he did.

Now Irina was pregnant. At the very moment my child had just died, Irina announced her pregnancy.

Lucien was letting her have it, promising her, "My words stand. As long as you keep Gaia in the dark, you and your pup will enjoy treatment no less than that of the Luna and the Alpha heir."

"Then, Alpha, may I have a mark?" Irina pleaded softly. "I beg you to mark me—it's important, for me and our pup. Luna Gaia has already lost her wolf, hasn't she? If we mark each other, she won't sense it."

I had no courage left to listen further. Mustering the last of my strength, I pushed my broken body up, clutched my aching abdomen, and staggered back to my room.

I hadn't known how I passed out on the bed. I only knew that when I woke, there was a new email on my phone.

It was from the Werewolf Alliance Council.

"Gaia Kent, your petition for forced mate dissolution has been approved. Your marriage to Lucien Blackthorne will be dissolved automatically in ten hours, and the mate bond will sever accordingly."

"We wish you forgetfulness of the past and a new beginning."

My hands clenched the phone tightly. Tears pooled in my eyes, but I didn't let them fall.

Just then, footsteps sounded outside my door. Lucien stopped and knocked.

  • Luna's Resolve, Alpha's Eternal Regret   Chapter 9

"In the days to come, you will be blissfully happy—I am certain of it, Gaia."Helena's words were so firm. I was sure an ancient Grand Sorceress never lied. But was my heart truly ready for new love? I wasn't sure.I only knew that my career was the most important thing to me at that moment. So, I soon arranged a meeting with one of the nation's most revered medical research doctors.Three days later, as I sat at the head of the conference table during a seminar focused on my work, I overheard the hushed whispers of several doctors. "That Alpha from the Gilded Moon is quite lucky. Just as he lost his wolf due to the heavy blows to his career and love life, a life-saving potion emerges."Lucien had lost his wolf? How did that happen?During a break, I listened more carefully. From their conversation, I learned that Lucien's betrayal of me had caused his wolf, Clovis, great dissatisfaction. Clovis had voluntarily withdrawn his powerful wolf essence, falling into a permanent slumber.A fe

By then, I had already followed Helena to the deepest reaches of the Blood Moon Forest. Everything here related to ancient, mystical sorcery fascinated me. I threw myself into my research almost immediately. All that I had experienced in the Gilded Moon Pack felt like a dream from a past life, utterly disconnected from who I was in this present moment. After nearly a month of secluded study, I stumbled upon an ancient healing method that could be immensely beneficial. It promised not only to restore my wolf but also to grant me the ability to conceive again.I was overjoyed. I quickly dedicated myself to focused research on this technique. It's important to know that countless werewolves lose their wolves to accidents every year, condemned to live in perpetual agony—like cancer patients, fading helplessly toward death. But if I could perfect this formula, I could save them. And, of course, myself.Another month passed. When I finally emerged from my seclusion, I had successfully develo

Lucien picked up the miscarriage papers, staring at the words in utter disbelief. In that moment, he finally understood everything. So, while he and Irina were lost in their passion, I was lying alone on a cold operating table, allowing cold instruments to enter my weakened body, removing our child. It was our only child, possibly the only pup I could ever have in this lifetime. But he had killed it. He hadn't even seen its face.Lucien completely broke down. He collapsed onto the floor, clutching the papers tightly in his hand, his eyes turning crimson. The guests had all returned to the banquet hall, and only a few of Lucien's close friends remained in the room when Irina finally dared to approach. She linked her arm with his and sat beside him. "What outrageous thing has Luna said now? You mustn't take it to heart. I'm sure she didn't mean it..."As she spoke, her gaze fell upon the miscarriage papers. In an instant, her words froze. All the clever, varied ways she usually had to sl

At the bonding anniversary celebration, Lucien stood on the ceremonial platform, about to invite me personally in front of all the guests, when he was suddenly seized by a violent pain in his heart. Our mate bond severed at that very moment.Lucien collapsed to his knees on the floor in agony, veins bulging on his forehead, cold sweat streaming down. Just then, he received the divorce notification email from the Werewolf Alliance Council.Lucien stared at his phone, his gaze deadly, and in that moment, he finally understood what I had been hiding from him these past few days.He abandoned all the guests and rushed desperately toward my room, wanting to mend things with me. But upon throwing the door open, he found the room empty and devoid of my presence; I was long gone.Just then, Irina approached. She wore a haute couture evening gown unbefitting her status, and the shallow mark of their mutual claiming still lingered on the nape of her neck—but the mark was faint. She was not Luci

"Gaia, are you alright? I was looking for you all last night, but you had locked your door," Lucien asked softly from outside.I did not answer him. At that moment, I only wanted to leave.Lucien paused at the door for a moment, then asked with concern, "Are you angry with me? Because I didn't come back to you immediately after seeing Irina to her room?"He still thought me a fool.Because after I lost my wolf, all my sensory abilities—my sight, hearing, and smell—had degraded, just like an ordinary human's. He believed I couldn't hear anything from the second floor, any sounds of them making love.I covered my face with my hands, rubbing my eyes, wiping away the last trace of tears. My Mate, Lucien, had died the very second we marked each other. The person standing outside my door now, I did not know him.He was not worth my tears.I went to the bathroom and washed my face, making myself appear calm and composed.Lucien was still waiting outside. He apologized sincerely, "I promised y
