Vera's POV

The party was flooded with the piercing sound of music, enchanting dance steps, and a little bit of conversation, or rather gossip from the pack's women here and there. And there was laughter too—loud, annoying ones from Lucy. She was privileged to meet Phil's special guests from other packs.

It was a thing of pride—and clearly, Lucy was using it to her advantage to make fun of me. I felt made fun of, not by her laughter and the way she made those guests laugh along with her—but it's the way her arms are entwined with Phil's.

I swallowed a glass of alcohol into my mouth as I digested the sour, bitter taste. I took another glass on a tray from a passing maid. I drank once, twice, thrice until I felt like throwing up.

“Are you okay?” Phil's beta asked as he came to sit across from me. His face was divided in my eyes but I could tell he was the one from his voice.

“Don't I look fine to you? Being pretty and nice. Just the qualities a Luna should have.”

“Are you drunk?”

“Do I l

Phil's POVFor a moment, Vera was patiently seated by the round table with some pack elders and my beta. I couldn't wait to be done with introducing Lucy to some of our special guests. But as I turned my head towards Vera again, she was gone, no longer present at the round table.“Hey.” Lucy grabbed my attention. Her smoky eyes hovered over my worried face. “Over there.” She pointed to a man and woman, one of my special guests as they discussed from a distance. “Yeah, what about them?” I asked, my concentration barely centered on her. Instead, my gaze scanned the crowd in the room. Vera wasn't here. Where could she be?“Phil, are you even here?” Lucy's voice drew my attention away from the crowd.“Our hands are entwined.”“That's not what I meant.” she retorted. “If you badly want to go back to the love of your life, why don't you finish up here first?”Her ungrateful attitude irritated me, so I took my hands from hers. “I think we're finished here.” I told her. Her mouth slightly aja

  • Luna’s Second Chance    Chapter 00055

Vera's POVTwo days passed after the death of Claudia. She was cremated just like Drew. I was back to normal within these days, back to being sad and back to being who I was. Wolfless, just human, with a problem of infertility. At least Phil finally got what he had always wanted to have, an heir.Lucy was up to the task to give that to him and a party preparation was going on in her honor. I cried when Phil told me about it. He said it in a way that didn't make me feel like shit, but once he left, I cried my eyes out.All night I cried, I skipped dinner. And it made Phil worry. But I was done crying my eyes out. I was done keeping the jealousy in my heart. So I helped with the preparation. I volunteered even though Phil said it wasn't necessary.“Bring that down. The colour doesn't rhyme with the party's theme.” I told one of the gammas who decorated the pack hall. It wasn't my duty to decorate or do anything at all but if I sat down in my room. It would only bring back tears to my ey

  • Luna’s Second Chance    Chapter 00054

Phil's POVVera was getting better, her body was no longer as white as snow, as if she were a corpse. I sat by her bedside as I held her hands. Her eyes were open for a moment before she fell back to sleep.A maid suddenly entered the room. “Good day Alpha.” She greeted, a tray in her hand which contained a towel and a bowl of water. She was about to place it on the table but I stopped her.“I don't think she'll be needing that anymore. Her body is quite warm now.”“Alright Alpha. Do you need anything else?” the maid asked.I shook my head as I waved my hand for her dismissal. She bowed and walked out of the room with the tray. The thought of telling Vera about Lucy's pregnancy suddenly struck me. How would Vera react? It was expected that she'd get jealous but I hoped the outcome wouldn't be so bad.I let go of her hand as I placed it by her hip. I leaned in and kissed her forehead gently. Just as I closed the door behind me, I climbed down the stairs. Lucy walked into the living roo

Lucy's POVThere was no baby. It was all a lie. A lie to keep him in my favor. To make him mine once more. I thought he found out the truth. But what he just told me was worse.“Witch… witch ancestry?”I stuttered. Deciding if I should go on with the act by disagreeing to give my so-called child to a seer or gladly accept and pretend to be supportive.“You don't have to answer me now, take your time.”I played with my fingers, anxious, and darted my gaze around. Then I turned back to him. “What use is it to take my time to think about it?”He stared at me, confused. “What are you trying to say?”I sighed, “Why would you even make such a deal with a… damn selfish seer. Ten years? Really?” I stared at him, disappointed. He looked away, also disappointed in himself. What if I were pregnant?I gently placed my hand on his shoulders. “It's fine. You were desperate and I understand that.”“Not every Alpha would agree to such if they were desperate.”I nodded. “Maybe.” I paused and stared int

  • Luna’s Second Chance    Chapter 00052

Lucy's POVI was flabbergasted by the way Phil had shut me out, in front of his lowly minions. It was expected of him to hate me but not as much as he did earlier. And it was all because of Vera, I was his least priority, because of her.The pregnancy trick only worked for a moment, I thought everything would change when he gave me that warm hug. But certainly, I was only mistaken. There was nothing I could do to change his distant attitude towards me, nothing, except that Vera was out of the picture.I tiptoed my way to Vera's doorway. The conversation between Phil and the physician made my heart leap in excitement.“She's not breathing.” I heard the physician say.“Do what you have to do. She can't die.”Phil snapped. I could tell from his voice that he was about to lose it. A smile appeared on my lips, and I leaned on the wall and looked up at the ceiling. I didn't need to do anything, nothing at all to get rid of her. Claudia should be appreciated for this. This called for a celebr
