Willa's POV
The teacher for the day was Ethan.
We were paired up into "patrol teams". Each team was given a handkerchief either in red or black. The mission was to get two handkerchiefs in both colors. That means half of the teams would lose and also meant that Rachel chose red when she saw me take a black one.
The whole game time was 8 hours.
Ethan didn't want Scarlett and me to be a pair, one wolfless in a pair was weak enough. But Scarlett didn't want to be apart. Besides, I didn't think anyone else would take care of her.
Ethan allowed it at the nod of Alpha Kirsch.
The bad news was -- Rachel got to keep both her mates. I didn't know it was because twins were THAT special, or the spoiled little princess was.
Of course, she thought my black handkerchief was to be hers.
As if Ethan knew Rachel was going to hunt me down, he sent the black teams out first -- prey went first. We were given a 30-minute firsthand to spread

Taran's POV Willa didn't come. It used to calm Cerberus when we sit at the edge of the cliff, watching the sea. But not today. He was agitated all morning, pacing around in my mind, waiting for Willa. It was driving me crazy. [Willa!] Cerberus grunted to me, again. It was like the hundredth time today. [We can't go into town.] I mumbled, looking at the sea. I lied. It was risky to go into town, sure. But I still could. I didn't want to because I was afraid to find Willa living happily with her new friends. I didn't want to confirm that she lied to us and CHOSE not to come. I would rather wait with hope...and not find out. But that hope was gouged away as time passed by, bit by bit. [You went before.] Cerberus grunted discontentedly. [The other day was a necessary risk.] I answered, feeling guilty. There was no difference between today and the other day. I was just being a coward. Cerberus snorted frustra
Taran's POV Willa jumped in a startle, but then she grinned brightly, and that one single smile lit up my world. "Al! What are you doing here?!" Willa smiled with a happily surprised shout, and the anxiety and worry and nervousness I had all day suddenly seemed so stupid. "Got bored waiting, so I came to watch a splendid fight." I shrugged. Cerberus suddenly calmed down. "Sorry!" Willa clasped her hands together with begging eyes, "I swear I was just about to sneak out to the cliff! I was forced into the patrol training by the Alpha! Somehow he knew about me leaving the pack and caged me today..." Kirsch wouldn't be so nervous about Willa knowing about me once I claim her mine. "You don't have to be sorry!" I laughed at her begging eyes, feeling as if even the air smelled sweet, "I know you wanted to come." [Liar.] Cerberus grunted, rolling his eyes. I ignored him. "I had never met any wolfless fights like you, not even
Willa's POV I didn't think Al would really pull me down. I only managed half of a yelp before my head submerged into the water. I struggled to stand up, only to see Al laughing his ass off by my side. But his hand was near my waist as if ready to fish for me if I drown, so... Why not? I faked a slip and fell back into the water, after some fake struggle I started coughing. I could see Al's laughter turn into a panic the moment he realized I couldn't swim. He pulled me out of the water immediately and took me into his arms, supporting my legs to wrap around his waist. "I'm sorry, Willa! Are you alright?!" Al shouted as he shook my body frantically, "Willa?!" I spit the mouthful of water I took between my fake coughing on his face before I burst into laughter. "You little devil!" Al stared at me in disbelief, not even wiping his face after my mischief, "You scared me to death!" The river was waist-high! Even a wolfless wo
Taran's POV I was going to mock Willa's silly stare when I turned around. I could hear her heart thumping frantically as she darted her eyes on the tree. Of course she was into me, she was my mate! But then I got lost at the scene in front of me. Instead of being wrapped in the cute cloak and long sweater, Willa had only my wet shirt on her, not even her shorts. My shirt was long to her, but it couldn't hide her in full. Leaving half of her thigh unhid made her even more alluring! But it was her hair that enchanted me. I noticed it was dark blue when we met on the cliff, and I loved her color. She had waist-long curly hair, soft like the princesses in fairytales with golden locks, except hers were grey-blue, like the ocean. [Sea...] Cerberus mumbled. I had never heard him speak in such a tamed, soft voice. "The sea..." I muttered at the same time, not realizing I was just repeating after Cerberus. Willa looke
Taran's POV "Hello to you too, Cerise." I stood up from the water, shaking the water off my hair, facing Kirsch's angry face. I was recognized as the Alpha by the pack bond when I first shifted at 15, and Kirsch had been my beta ever since. He was only 12 back then, but he had the strongest soul power in the whole pack other than mine. He was my only beta. He shifted early than most members of our pack. He shifted when he was only 12, on the same new moon night when Crebreus went on a rampage. "Don't call me that!" Kirsch shouted with his ears red. "Why are you so mean to me? You used to be so cute." I teased, laughing as I watched his face turning from red to scarlet. "You call me that just to annoy me!" Kirsch rolled his eyes, glaring at me. Uptight. He was always so uptight. Not fun. I think he just grew up at 12 overnight, and had been this straight face strict man ever since. "I just came here for a bath."
Taran's POV I strolled with Kirsch along the river, in the direction of the beach. "Restrain Nat, you can't let this go on. Rachel is 17 now, basically an adult. This is serious." I frowned, remembering Rachel's vicious voice. "Nat spoils her, and you are the one who spoiled Nat first." Kirsch folded his hand, glaring at me, "Do you have any idea how hard it is to restrain the Alpha's mate?!" Nat claimed me to be her mate when she turned 18. She seemed pretty sure about it, but Kirsch already marked me by then. He was one year older than Nat. He had always felt guilty about it, but I knew Nat wasn't feeling as strong a pull toward me as he did. "She's not my mate!" I frowned at him, feeling probed for the first time by this joke, "You should know, of all." His face turned red yet again. He dodged my eyes as he muttered: "All I know is I marked you by mistake..." I walked toward him, and Kirsch backed into a tree. He tri
Kirsch's POV I didn't let her skip patrol training because she didn't want special treatment. She seemed on edge, but I couldn't get her to trust me enough to not worry about Rachel. I wasn't going to let Rachel hurt her. I followed them from the start, and watched Willa set her trap to save Scarlett. Willa always pretended to be bad and mischief, but she never bullied anyone. She must have had a life full of love to be able to care for others so much. I didn't see Taran until he came out and greeted Willa, and I was shocked to my core. So she DID see him yesterday, and they became friends! She was so happy to see him. Her face was glowing the moment she saw him. She never did that for anyone, the least of all me. All her attention was all on Taran from the second Taran appeared. Naturally. Taran was always like the sun, bright, shining, warm, like Rudy, but not like me. Sometimes I felt like maybe the moon goddess got
Willa's POV I got up really early today. It takes me more than two hours to run to the beach, and I wouldn't want to waste any time. I was bringing Al a cake today. I knew food wasn't scarce in the forest, but there wasn't any cake tree! I used my ring and got my toys ready before I put them in a plastic bag and dashed downstairs. It was only five in the morning, and the sun was barely high enough to light up the whole world. "Holly molly!" I gasped when I almost dashed right into the Alpha's car. My heart was pounding loudly in my chest as I sneaked closer to peek into his car window. No one was in there. Why the hell did he stop his car in front of my porch?! Scared me to death! I rolled my eyes before I turned to leave, and this time I successfully crushed my face into his chest. Just great. I felt like he was this magical wall that could appear and vanish anywhere, but only in my world. "Where are yo
