The minute I spotted Dave at the party, I ducked my head and quickly scanned the place for an escape route. We were outside in the garden, and I was glad that the darkness was concealing me, but it was only a matter of time before they found me.

With my heart pounding in my chest, I discreetly moved towards a group of ladies engaging in conversation and created a buffer between me and Dave.

This guy was becoming a thorn in my flesh, and just when I thought I was avoiding one problem, another was waiting for me in front.

I was so tired. At the same time, I had to keep Chadwick within sight because he would begin to suspect me if I left his side.

All evening, I assumed that whenever I saw a dark blue jacket heading my way, it was Dave. It was weird that Dave, whose body was covered in tattoos and would never be caught dead wearing any formal outfits, wore a jacket tonight.
