Bang!!!! I heard the loud sound of a gunshot behind me, making my ears almost bleed out. Turning around, I saw Mark covering his chest with his right hand. Following his gaze, I realized he had just been shot. "No!!!!!" I screamed, tears pouring out of my eyes as I watched my husband fall to the ground, his eyes turning lifeless. "H...how could you do this, you devil" I stuttered as I ran towards mark, covering his bleeding chest with my palm in a mere attempt to stop the bleeding, knowing fully well that he was already dead. Feeling like my heart was being twisted inside out, I cried out in loud sobs, my contact lens slipping out of my eyes from all the tears. "So it really is you" I heard footsteps slowly getting close to me, but I kept my head down, my gaze never leaving Mark's lifeless body. "Look at me when I'm talking to you!!" Liam raised his voice in anger as he held my hair on a tight bunch, forcing my gaze to meet his. "Ouch" I wince in pain of my hair being pulled. "It's beautiful" he said, staring straight into my eyes, a creepy smile hanging on his lips. "I could carve them out and keep them in my room as trophy" he smirked. "How dare you? How could you do this to your own best friend? You're a monster!!!!" I screamed as I spit on his face. Slap!!! I felt my cheek go numb from the slap, my jaw clenching as I tried to hold my ground, not letting a single tear slip. "No matter how much you try, you can never be like Mark. You'll forever be in his shadow." I smiled, ignoring the stinging pain on my cheek. Scoffing, he dragged me towards the well in the middle of an abandoned factory where he kept us, I could feel my hair pulling from my scalp, the pain unbearable. Throwing me towards the edge of the well, he sat on the stool that was right in front of me, a knife in his hand, flicking it in a dangerous way. "I can make this easier for you" he said, waving his hand around before continuing, "just surrender yourself to me and be mine, maybe then I'll spare you." He smirked. "Haha_hahahaha" I laughed uncontrollably, his words were funny. "I never knew you liked me that much" I sneered. Scoffing at my words, he said "I don't like you, I only want what your eyes holds" he grins, his eyes shining greedily. "So you did all these for power? Fame? Money?" I asked, my eyes turning red in anger. "You could say that....or not..." He paused before continuing "Let's just say your husband was getting on my nerves, acting all high and mighty" he finished. "You're pathetic" I spat, noticing the way his face twisted in anger. Forcefully holding my chin, he traced my face with the knife he held. I could feel the blood trickling down my face as pain shot through me. "It's a shame to destroy such a beautiful face, but you could still be useful even without your face. Your eyes is all I need" he stated as he continued deforming my face while I screamed in pain. Kicking him on the shin with all my strength, I shuffled backwards. Blood streaming down my face, blurring my gaze. Groaning in pain, he noticed me trying to escape and held my leg, twisting till I heard a crack. My leg was broken "Arrrrgh!!!!" I screamed, tears rolling down my face, mixing with the blood. Struggling with all my strength, I searched around with my hands for anything I could use as a weapon. Finally touching a brick, I hit him hard on the head, my adrenaline running high. Supporting myself on the well, I pushed myself up, my broken leg aching as I tried moving. "Nghh" I Hissed in pain, my body hurting all over. Limping towards where seems to be the exit of the abandoned factory, I increased my pace, ignoring the searing pain i was feeling. Almost at the exit, I could already see myself escaping from this hell as I pushed myself beyond my limit. "And where do you think you're going?" I heard Liam's voice right behind me, making my body freeze in shock. I could hear his footsteps getting close to me, making me regain myself as I tried to run away. "Mmphh" I struggled as he held me tight from behind, his large hand covering my mouth. Ignoring the pains on my leg, I kicked and flail in an attempt to escape, I bit his hand hard enough for him to let go, throwing me hard on the floor. "You bitch!!" He cursed as he grabbed the knife that was laying close to his leg and lounged at me. Before I could make out what was happening, I felt my clothes getting soaked. Pain shot through me as I coughed up blood, the knife buried deep in my stomach. My hands shook as I tried to hold the wound, but the warmth of my own blood spilled between my fingers. I gasped, my breath shallow, my body growing weaker. The hand I was using to support myself gave out, and I collapsed to the floor. The room blurred, the sounds around me fading. "Now you're of no use to me." Leon sighed in feigned pity. With my strength gradually leaving my body, I felt his hand grip on my hair as he dragged me towards the well. The light flickered in the abandoned factory, I could barely make out his face anymore with my blurry vision. "I'm sorry I couldn't throw you a lavish funeral, but I hope you find this more comfortable," he snickered. I could hear the creak of the well cover as he pushed it open, the rusted metal groaning in protest. My body was barely holding on, every breath shallow, every movement a struggle. Yet, I felt him grip me, dragging me upward with little effort. The air grew colder as he lifted me over the edge. My fingers twitched, but I had no strength left to fight. My gaze moved to my husband's lifeless body one last time. Then....he let go. For a moment, there was nothing. Just weightlessness. Then the world rushed past me, the damp walls of the well spinning as I plummeted down. The last thing I heard was the echo of his laughter before the darkness swallowed me whole as I plunged deep into the not so empty well. Water filled my lungs, burning and heavy, dragging me deeper into the abyss. My body convulsed, desperate for air, but all I got was more suffocating darkness. With the last of my strength, I swore through the agony, my mind consumed by rage. 'Even if I have to turn into a fierce ghost, I'll make sure to get my revenge.' The cold wrapped around me, my thoughts slipping, blurring. I wished...no, begged...to go back. To stop everything before it began. But time wasn’t kind. And neither was death, then I took my last breath.MARK'S POV Standing in front of my desk, I stared at the woman in front of me coldly. "What are you doing here?""Ohh, come on Mark. Is that a way to greet your fiance?" She asked with that annoying smile on her face, a smile I know too well.Gritting my teeth, I scoffed "Ex fiance!" I corrected her, my voice dripping with malice.Claudia’s smile faltered for a split second, but she recovered quickly, brushing an invisible speck off her designer blazer as she stepped closer.“Technicalities” she purred. “You never really ended things properly. One could say you just… ran away.”“I should’ve run faster” I said flatly, my jaw tight. “And you showing up here unannounced? Bad idea.”She tilted her head, eyes gleaming with false sweetness. “I missed you, darling. And from the looks of things, I’m not the only one who’s… interested in you lately.”My eyes narrowed. So that’s what this was about. She leaned against the edge of my desk, crossing her arms. “She’s pretty, your secretary. Has n
ELEANOR'S POVWatching the door closed behind Liam, I felt restless...like something was gonna happen but not really sure what it was. It's been a week since Liam and I started dating, I decided to give him a chance after thinking about it for a long time. He's a really sweet guy.And also the fact that he was the one who saved me years ago...was also a big plus. I've been looking for the boy who just into the ocean without hesitation just to save me. Knowing he's the one, I actually feel protected in his presence, like he has this calming effect on me. Making me almost forget about revenge.I've been meeting up with Doctor Rex but there wasn't any progress. I've also been diligently going to the judo club for the past two weeks.I’ve always believed in balance, work, emotions, control. But lately, nothing feels balanced.Liam makes things feel easy. Too easy, sometimes. His laughter is disarming, his touch warm. And knowing he was the boy who saved me that day in the water… it’s lik
MARK'S POV Two weeks later. It’s been two weeks since I dealt with Damian. He gave us information, but none of it was useful. Apparently, even among traitors, trust is a scarce commodity. They kept him in the dark. Cowards. Walking into the office, I paused at the doorway. Liam was standing way too close to Eleanor, his posture relaxed, gaze too damn soft...eyes shining like she hung the stars herself. She laughed quietly at something he said, brushing a stray curl behind her ear. And just like that, a sick twist curled in my gut. They’ve been acting strange all week. Their conversations linger longer than necessary. Their eyes meet more than they should. And worse... she smiles at him. She never used to smile like that with me. I clenched my fists at my sides, jaw locked. If he thinks he can rewrite history...he’s dead wrong. "What are you doing here?" I asked coldly, breaking whatever conversation they were having. "Jeez, you scared us man" Liam held his chest pl
MARK'S POV Picking up my phone, I dialled Marcelo's number. He picked up in the first ring. "Hello, sir?" "Get ready" I said curtly before ending the call and heading towards my car. I didn’t need to say more. Marcelo knew exactly what get ready meant. As I stepped into the car and pulled out of the parking lot, the city seemed quieter than usual, like it sensed the storm I was about to unleash. My hands tightened on the wheel. Damien Cross. The first domino. This time, there’d be no warnings, no second chances. Just consequences. And I was done playing nice. The drive to the abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city was silent...too silent. Just the sound of tires against pavement and the hum of my engine. Marcelo was already there when I arrived, leaning against the hood of his black SUV. His sharp suit was impeccable, his expression unreadable. “He’s inside” he said, straightening up. Without a word, I walked past him, through the heavy metal doors.
MARK'S POVThe meeting dragged on longer than expected. By the time Mr. Dominic finally shook my hand and left with his assistant in tow, the sun was already dipping lower in the sky, casting long shadows across the conference room.Eleanor quietly gathered the papers in front of her, moving with a careful precision that made something in my chest tighten.I leaned back in my chair, watching her."Eleanor...are you still mad at me about yesterday?" I asked. I was always one to keep work and personal matters separately, but I just couldn't stand her silence. She's not one to talk unnecessarily but this was grating on my nerves.".....""Eleanor..." "It's all done, Mr Warren." She cuts me off."Mark. Call me Mark" I corrected."That won't be possible sir, we're not that close to be on a first name basis. And..." She stops, staring at me from under her lashes, "I think it would be best if you refer to me as Miss Brown."I fucking knew it.I wasn't really one to curse, heck... I avoid u
MARK’S POV From where I waited in the darkened side street, I saw Liam emerge, shoulders hunched, hands shoved deep in his pockets. Even at this distance I could read the tension in his stride...too quick, too restless. Something had happened up there. Something with Eleanor. My jaw clenched. I didn't want him close to Eleanor, not in this life...not ever. Not after what he did. Not after the betrayal in my past life. But I have to keep my enemies closer, the closer they are... the easier it will be to get them. I can't afford to loose this time, I'll make sure they all rot in hell. Somethings are changing in this life, and I was so sure it was because of Eleanor's strange behaviour. She's changed and I'm gonna find out why. Remembering what happened today, the way she got so angry about me looking out for her, I sighed...she just doesn't know the things that are about to happen. I leaned back against the seat, staring blankly through the windshield. She doesn’t remember, but t
