Killian's POV

Lovena looked at him. “You are the one who is sick in the head.”

Then I glanced at the maid, who hung her head low. “And you, traitor.”

The maid put her head down. “I’m sorry, my lord. I didn’t mean to. She offered me money, and my mom was really sick, and so that’s why I—”

“Shut up,” I cut her off. “Did you come to me? Did you come to my Beta or speak to any officers about it? Did you tell us you were in need, and we didn’t do anything? You just took a black offer. Now you won’t receive pity. You are going to be punished so badly you’ll regret ever being alive.”

Then I heard footsteps. People were already starting to come in. A guard whispered to me, “My lord, the hall is almost filled up. People are there.”

Lovena's tears spilled freely now, streaking her cheeks. “I loved you,” she whimpered.

I looked at her. “You don’t know the meaning of love. What you have is rot. A disease in your mind.”
