Chapter 89: Tournament.

Kyra's POV

“Another rule that must be remembered,” Gideon suddenly said. “With the slots, it means every contestant will be competing twice: the person whose name is on the tag and the person who has the tag. If the contestant loses both fights, then he or she will be eliminated.”

So, that means they must win at least one fight before they are able to challenge the royal guards. It was a good plan.

The last rule did not catch any of the contestants off guard; that was probably how the tournament had proceeded all this time.

The contestants quickly divided themselves into ten groups without causing any scene, and one by one, they picked a wooden tag from inside the boxes before retreating into the entrance they came from.

Everything was done in order, most likely because Gideon was there supervising things as well; even the crowd watching the scene was quiet.
