Chapter 38

VERONICA

I have never been in such a tight position. I rushed to my cloth box, and luckily it was intact. It couldn't have been Prince Grimgor. I was still trying to think of the reasons why my room was like hell when the creaking sound of the door echoed in my ear.

The old king and some of his men walked in. He looked at the room and walked to different corners before he stopped at my face.

"How did you get in, Veronica?" He asked, stretching my name as he pronounced it. He seems to be filled with youthful energy.

"I got in with my key, sir," I replied. For the first time, I felt anxious around him. He gazed at me for a moment and then started to walk around me.

"But... I changed to lock! Does it mean that the new lock is fake or that you used your hairpin to do the job?" he says, swinging around me. Why would they change the lock? Or they wanted to know that I teleport? I had to pick my answer as quickly as I could so that he would not think that I had given myself time to think.
