Away from home

Tomorrow is my birthday and it happens to be the mating festivity. This means that all the unmated werewolves would gather somewhere to find their partners since they're were of age. Sometimes it makes me feel uncomfortable with the decision of being mated with other clans of the wolf family.

We were about to go home together when we heard voices from far though but it came to us clearer from our existing instincts to react to oscillations. I pray it doesn't be humans coming this way because I can't stand the sight of my boyfriend when he is hostile to the beings. He did mention that he could kill any human today for me, despite that I still love him.

Now getting nigher we could sense it's voices of lovers one like us making their way to nowhere I do not know. Josh dragged a branch from the oak he leaned onto, he broke it into pieces, a part of four, as he dropped each piece to the earth he murmured words to my ears. 

‘I will live for you.’He dropped a piece. ‘I will kill for you.’ a second. ‘I will die for you.’ a third  . ‘I will love you.’He dropped the last. 

Why these promises I thought to myself, maybe they were not promises but oaths been taken. 

Now we could see visions getting closer, it was like they followed our track, it was a route for lovers who never had hope of vanishing one day. The figures were quite intimate with us. It was Flutta and Lucas our best friends, same lovers too like Josh and I only that we had begun dating for a couple of months before they met. Now, where are they going? My curiosity heightened.

‘Hey, guys. Flutta waved with a smile on sighting Josh and me.

My gaze was at Lucas, my best friend’s boyfriend. I could imagine if I hadn't met Josh then he's my next choice of a guy. He had blonde like me, a thick black blonde, lengthy and an appeasing smell that I had wondered where he got his scent from. Some dirty laundry said it was from his father, others think it's natural, though I don't know which counts hopelessly I thought of a day we would sit and talk then I will have to ask him about his powerful scent. 

‘Hi, Flutta’. Josh replied.

The couples reached out to us for a hug. I saw how Lucas glanced at me, so weird, I felt like trembling, I couldn't tell if my feet were wiggling this time until I felt a warmth wrap from Flutta. She had kissed Josh on the cheek before she grabbed me by arms to embrace me. She did bring me back to myself because I was lost in wandering thought about her charming boyfriend Lucas.

Lucas came now to embrace me, a little of me wanted to stop him to prevent my urge for his scent but ‘oops!’ I gasp for air from the north, it was too late to halt him. Josh and Flutta were conversing with each other, ‘ooh my god’. That cured my impulses. Finally, he let go of me at once I regained my consciousness, I leaned back at the oak tree with my boyfriend while Flutta ringed Lucas arm in arm. There were several oak trees, I could still perceive this scent, anytime the wind blew and the leaves fell, what a beautiful nature, I became a connoisseur. 

‘Where are you guys headed?’Josh said to the couple.

‘Same thing you do, old man. Lucas kicked him and they both laughed out while the she-wolves watched in the audience. 

Things were taking better shape in our relationship lives, we were both unmated, we loved ourselves than anybody else does, we were the talk of the hood. Other werewolves envy our friendship; always together, defending each other, we were said to be a set of pairs.

‘Tomorrow is your girlfriend’s birthday, and her big day in we're wolf clan. You know what I mean?’. Lucas continued, looking into my boyfriend’s eyes, their icy eyes I confirmed could freeze a soul when you lied. That’s their special ability I don’t know how they possess that too, I am left with so many discoveries on the was wolf abilities so much my old man left untold.

‘Yeah it’s her big time together with me, I promise to make it a remembrance.’Josh answered Lucas pulling me right to his underarm. 

Josh had said he promise a memorable day for me. It was all promises, not an oath. 

‘Lovebirds is in the air .’Flutta tuned.

She went singing all over me making me uncomfortable with Josh. I left Josh’s underarm, she ran away while I took the chase, we were both running in circles until she finally took off. She was very fast I couldn’t catch up with her, though I tried, I give it a challenge, put in my best, increased my speed but it seems no different than the ordinary me. Wolves are fast and fierce in attack, but I was different with no special abilities. 

‘Your girlfriend?’ Lucas spoke 

‘Yes, what about her?’ Josh replied

‘You think she’s fast?’ Lucas questioned

‘Can you help with that? I mean it bothers me.’Josh said sadly. 

 

‘Are you sure of her breed? She could be a half-human, benevolent one. Lucas waved off a hand into the empty air, his hand went so fast that it went like the flash in motion.

‘You think that brother?.’ Josh looked concerned.

‘I mean it's blood.’Lucas replied.

‘You know tomorrow is our mating day, I can't wait for us to mate our partners, same-day brother.’Lucas seemed excited.

‘It had been my long time expectations to mate Virgo. We've always looked forward to this day.’This was the first time Josh mentioned my name other times it could have been ‘my love’.

 

Now Flutta and I had returned from the chase, I was wheezing for air to breathe. Flutta helped me catch a breath, she carried me back to where our boyfriends stood right then I knew I was a weak werewolf with no special abilities although it doesn't bother me than my boyfriend Josh. I could see it in the look in his eyes as he watched me gasped for air.
