Ann’s POV

Jake's eyes darkened as his eyes roamed over my body. I felt instant desire and my heart leaped for joy. That was the look of a man still very much interested in his wife.

I moved slowly towards him once again, our eyes glued to each other and he didn't step away this time.

My hands slowly roamed his body and I trailed down till it was inside his towel now. Jake moved a little as a moan escaped his lips.

He was aroused and I felt like I was on cloud nine. I was so happy I still had such an effect on him. I guessed by the time we were done tonight there definitely won't be any talk of divorce.

“Should we do it here?” I asked as I looked up at him lustfully. Jake was my husband but I knew he was a god. Ladies still lined up and were ready to be in his bed knowing fully well he was happily married.

“You disgust me,” Jake’s words lingered in the air as the time suddenly stood still.

With a force I don't think he had ever used on me he yanked my hands away from him.

My eyes burned again and this time I couldn't even stop the tears. His words had triggered something so deep inside me and had probably broken my heart into shreds.

“Jake?” I called out softly to him but he just went his way as though I hadn't said a word.

What just happened? I thought we were gradually making up.

Who was the lady that had finally gotten my husband hooked and I now looked disgusting to him?

“I mean which woman tries to seduce a man after he clearly told her he wanted a divorce?” Jake asked in a sarcastic tone and didn't even glance at me.

He didn't need to because I fully understood that those words were meant for me and no one else.

“Jake, please don't do this. I beg you. Where do you even want me to start?” I lost myself as I began begging my husband and tried holding his arm once again but he flinched and shot me a dark look.

“You..you hate me this much?” I asked, hot tears streaming down my face.

“Are you trying to guilt trip me now since seduction didn't work?” Jake asked as he let his towel slip to the floor and pulled his nightwear on.

My hormones were in overdrive and I felt my legs almost turning to jelly when I saw his manhood. That was the kind of effect Jake had on me.

I began feeling disgusted with myself now and a wave of embarrassment suddenly washed over me as I hastily went to put on my robe and left the closet.

I rushed out of the room and went to the next room. I let myself cry for a long time as I sat on the floor of that room.

I couldn't believe all that had happened. Was Jake really going to push through with this divorce?

Was this some kind of joke where he would surprise me tomorrow, which was my birthday?

I laughed bitterly at my naive state of mind. I couldn't believe I still felt this way even after what just happened.

I heard Jake’s phone ring and that immediately piqued my curiosity. I had never been curious about his calls. Never.

I was out of the room and found myself with my ears pressed on our bedroom door.

“She is going to sign it,”He said to the person on the other side.

“No…no.. she could never,” Then he chuckled.

“She is a perfectionist, so she will definitely not want to drag this to court,”

My heart even shattered more. I couldn't believe this. He really had another woman and he definitely was updating her about what was happening right now in our home.

Who was she? I wondered to myself. Who really could have taken my husband away from me,right under my nose?

Jake was still talking but I couldn't listen anymore as I ran back into the other room and landed on the bed weeping my eyes out.

I felt a rough shake on my shoulder as I slowly opened my eyes. I looked up to see Jake staring down at me.

I smiled at him and said, “Good morning sweetie.”

Jake scoffed and threw the brown envelope at me and that was when the event of last night flooded in. I gasped. It hadn't been a dream.

“My lawyer would be meeting you to take the document. I have another business trip to embark on when I come back. I believe we would both be single and free to do whatever we wish,” Jake’s words pierced deep into my heart.

I still couldn't believe he was doing all these things to me. To us.

“I’m not signing the papers Jake,” I stated firmly as I sat up.

Jake gave me a hard stare that sent cold shivers running up my spine but I didn't back down, I kept staring at him unfazed.

“You really want a messy divorce Ann?” He asked me, making a tsk sound with his tongue. He always did this whenever he was irritated or annoyed.

“You haven't explained a thing to me Jake, I can't wake up one morning and be served divorce papers without knowing the cause,” I stood up now tying my robe.

“Ann Nicholas!” Jake snapped that even I jumped at the sound of my full name. I hadn't been expecting such a reaction at all.

I stared into those eyes of the man I had fallen in love with but I couldn't even see a glimpse of compassion towards me.

“You would sign those papers, do you hear me?” Jake said, raising his voice that even the room seemed to vibrate with his words.

There was silence between both of us and we both entered a staring contest

. I wasn't sure why I said this but I knew I couldn't back down.

“We are doing forever Jake,”
