The Breech

The attack comes just after sunrise.

No warning, no negotiation. Just blood in motion.

The rogue wolves hit the eastern border like they’ve done it before, like they’ve studied our patterns, our rhythms, our weaknesses. The alarm howls through the compound, sharp enough to shake the bones of every guard on duty.

I’m already moving before anyone tells me to, but I’m not moving with them, not this time, this time, I hang back, out of sight.

Out of order. I can feel him immediately.

The alarm howls through the compound, sharp enough to shake the bones of every guard on duty.I’m already moving before anyone tells me to, but I’m not moving with them, not this time, this time, I hang back, out of sight.Out of order. I can feel him immediately.Tyson His presence snaps through the bond like a warning flare.Stay inside the perimeter. His voice doesn’t even need words anymore. It presses straight into my mind, tight and absolute.I almost roll my eyes out loud.Of course he still thinks the safest place for me is behind him, out of reach, out of danger, out of everything that actually matters.I grip the edge of the wall, watching the chaos unfold ahead. I’m not a woman who allows her mate to go into battle while she sits back and twiddle

Tyson refuses to leave the bed the next morning. I finally kick him out of the bed because he refuses to, we have sex in so many positions, some of them I never would believe it was possible.I am now too sore for any more sex. But I am sore and happy, satisfied and glowing. That glow you can only get from mind-blowing sex.Over the next days, I stop fighting sleep. Because sleep doesn’t feel like escape anymore. It feels like falling into something warm.Safe.Shared.The house changes too in subtle ways. The tension in the pack shifts, less pressure.Tyson is always near, not suffocating. Just… present. And I love it because, for the first time in a long time, I don’t feel lonely.Like a constant gravity I’ve stopped resisting. And every time I look at him, something inside me settles. Something deep and unfamiliar:Peace. There are moments, long stretches of time where words aren’t necessary at all. Just looks. Just proximity. Just understanding. And when we are alone, the bond be

I grab Tyson’s shirt and bend my head as if to kiss him, but end up breathing into him, my mouth just a breath from his. And then something in Tyson shifts. He closes his eyes for a second and when he opens them, I nearly collapse from the weight of his emotions. His hand moves first, closing gently around my wrist. Not pulling, just holding. Like he’s asking without words. My breath catches.“Tyson…” I whisper softly. His name feels different now.His gaze doesn’t leave mine as he leans in slightly, his voice dropping lower than before.“Say it again,” he says.I blink. “Say what?”“My name,” he replies quietly. “Like that.”My chest tightens. Because I understand exactly what he means.I say it again. “Tyson.”Something in his expression breaks, just slightly. Like that single word undid something he’s been holding together for far too long. And then he moves. Not rushed, not uncontrolled.Just certain. One arm slides behind my back, the other under my knees, lifting me effortlessly

The room stays quiet for a moment after Tyson speaks, not because the meeting is still happening, but because nobody wants to be the first to step into whatever this is.Finally, Connor stands.“Thank you,” he says dryly. “That’s my cue to leave before I say something that gets me killed.”Aiden follows with a tired exhale, already halfway to the door.“I’ll… go patrol something that doesn’t involve emotional warfare,” he mutters. And then it’s just me and Tyson. The door shuts behind them. The sound feels too final.Silence stretches between us, heavy in a way that makes my skin feel aware of every inch of space. I didn’t look at him immediately.I should. But I don’t.Instead, I stare at the edge of the table, my fingers slowly curling against it.“I can’t believe they said that,” I mutter finally.Tyson doesn’t respond right away, when he does, his voice is lower than usual.“They’re not wrong.”That makes me freeze. Slowly, I lift my head. He’s still standing where he was, one han

Two days later, the meeting room feels tighter than usual. Not physically, something else.Strategic maps are spread across the long table, markings of rogue activity scattered like warnings no one can fully decode yet. The discussion moves fast, guards speaking over each other, theories colliding, frustration building.I sit forward slightly, trying to focus.“We don’t need to wait for them to strike again,” I say, cutting in. “We should find where they’re hiding. If we move first, we take them by surprise.”A few heads turn toward me.I push on. “We know their pattern isn’t stable. They regroup. They move. If we track disruptions”They’re not moving normally,” a voice interrupts. It’s one of the senior strategists, Connor. He leans back in his chair, arms crossed.“They’re using concealment magic,” he says. “Layered. Deep. You don’t just track that.”My brows knit. “So we do nothing?”“That’s not what I said,” he replies. But I can tell he’s already thinking several steps ahead of m

His fingers brush my wrist and everything Stops. It’s like a shock runs through me. Not painful. Just… overwhelming. My breath catches, my body goes still, and for a split second, the world narrows down to that single point of contact. What the hell was that?He pulls back like he’s been burned. Hi

I woke up in a bed, surrounded by three big men. They are all huge. I pretend as if I am still unconscious.A voice booms beside me. “Open your eyes, spy. We can tell you’re awake.”I open my eyes to glare at the speaker. A tall blond man who looks about thirty-four. “You don’t need to be so loud,

Chapter TwoAs much as I would love to get myself some buzz, I can’t do that with my state of unemployment. I hardly get drunk, it takes a lot of alcohol to get me to that state. Lucky me, nothing ever works my way. Back when my mum was still alive, she used to tell me I am wasting my time trying
