CHAPTER 22

RUBY’S POV

I was still trying to figure out what to wear for my date with Dax when Sally returned from school and she bolted straight for my room.

“Mum, I'm back” she yelled in a sing-song voice as she ran into my arms for a hug and I laughed when she unexpectedly kissed me on the cheek.

“What was that for? That was sudden” I asked her while I still laughed and she giggled.

“We were told by our teacher to give our mums a big kiss on the cheeks when we get home” she answered and I felt my heart flutter as I smiled at her while gently running my fingers through her hair.

“Well, I'll have to thank your teacher for that. That was sweet of you, Sally” I told her and she got shy as she used her tiny hands to shield her face so I wouldn't see her blush.

I laughed at how cute she could be before I pulled her hands away and kissed her on the cheek too then I smiled at her again.
