"It's a legal certificate," Perry blurted out. He already knew what her reaction would be, and he wasn't in any way surprised when he got the exact reaction he had expected.

"What the fuck?!" Autumn exclaimed. "I'm so dead! How did we even get to this point? How and when in the world did we sign this in the first place?"

"When we were both drunk, he said we went to a chapel last night, we had some shit done and we got married." He said and sighed. "It's just fucked up,"

"So, what's the way out uh?" Autumn asked and began to pace around the room. "We have to find something to do about this, or else it'll hurt my career. My career is on the line!" She exclaimed.

"Calm down, young woman!" Perry snapped at her, getting tired of how she kept pacing around.

"How do you expect me to—"

"There's a solution," Perry blurted out, making Autumn stop in her tracks as she looked at Perry with a glint of hope in her eyes.

"There is?" She asked. "What is the solution?"

Perry parted ways with Autumn that morning after giving her a solution that he thinks might save them both.

Although not very convinced, Autumn accepted when Perry said he was going to see to it and make sure he and his lawyer cancel out the certificate by filing for a divorce and that would be the end of it.

One of the maids brought the last set of food from the kitchen and set it on the table in front of Perry and his father, Mr. Moore.

Immediately after Perry left Las Vegas and returned to his father's mansion, he told him he would like to have a feast-like dinner with him to celebrate his arrival.

Perry, however, knew his father was only doing that so he could ask him for the details of his proposal to Gloria.

"Thank you," Mr. Moore said to the maid who bowed her head in respect in return, before leaving the son and father alone in the dining room.

"Let's eat," he then said to Perry, who simply nodded.

Midway into the food, Mr. Moore broke the silence between them. "So, how did your proposal go?"

Perry almost choked on his food. Though he was expecting the question, it still came a little unexpected for him.

He quickly took the cup of water in front of him and drank a little from it before dropping it back on the table.

"I hope it went well?" Mr. Moore added, ignoring the fact that his son just choked on his food.

"About that, it didn't go quite well. It didn't go as planned," he said.

His father paused to stare at him hard, expecting him to explain what he meant by what he had just said. Seeing that he wouldn't say anything else, he dropped the spoon in his hand on his plate. "Come again, Perry."

Perry sighed before replying. "She didn't accept my proposal."

"I expect you to tell me why without even asking." His father replied with a stern voice.

"She claimed to love someone else." Perry blurted out, making his father scoffed.

"Your girlfriend loves someone who isn't you?"

  "Ex-girlfriend, father."

Mr. Moore chuckled lightly, unable to believe what he just heard his son say. "Are you even hearing yourself? Do you know the weight of what you have just said?"

"Father, I know how important getting married is to you, but I can't force—"

"I didn't tell you to force anyone!" His father raised his voice at him a little.

"I mean, if I were to do this my way, I would have made one of my rich friends give me their daughter and set you two up. Do you even know how many of them have offered me that opportunity and I disagreed?"

Perry let out a sigh before lowering his gaze as his father continued to scold him at the top of his voice. He knew his father to be that way, and whenever he was like that, it was best not to interrupt, but to let him vent his anger.

"All because you claimed to have some woman that you truly love! Now it is time to propose and get married and this is what you get?" His father scoffed. "You and the girl must be a joker."

"Father," Perry called. He was beginning to get pissed with the way his father spoke to him. "This isn't my fault either. I had no idea she was going to say no."

"And now that she has, what's your plan? You know quite well that without getting married you cannot gain your inheritance, you have to marry quickly so that you can claim your grandfather's shares!" Mr. Moore explained to him as if he had not done that before.

He has sung it like a song to his ears for a long time now, that it wasn't a new thing to Perry anymore.

  "I know, dad."

"Then find something to do about it. And make it fast." Mr. Moore added the last sentence a bit more silently than the first. He then stood up from his table.

"Enjoy the rest of your meal," he said to his son and walked out of the dining room, leaving Perry behind.

Perry sighed as he watched his father's retreating figure. He has also lost his appetite, so he stood up right after his father was out of sight and also headed to his room.

On getting to his room, Perry paced around in anger. The discussion he had with his father annoyed him so much, but he did not know what to vent his anger on.

The thought of Gloria leaving him crossed his mind again, and he got even more pissed. He clenched his teeth and made his hand into a fist as if he was about to hit someone with it.

"Damn!" He yelled in frustration as he hit his fluffy bed. He was about to hit it the second time when he heard his phone ring.

Soon, her mum was discharged and they returned home Meanwhile, Perry had been thinking of ways to apologize to Autumn and urge her to return home as his wife. After much thought about it, Khalid gave him advice about what to do. He made some findings on where Autumn now works, and he found out it was with one of his business partners Immediately, he reached out to Marco, Autumn's new boss, and also her family and asked for their help in getting her back. He told her boss that he should send her on a business trip to Vegas, and her boss agreed. Autumn was very surprised when her boss told her to do this. She had just taken a leave from work to Los Angeles to take care of herself, and he had granted her the leave All of a sudden, he called her to come with him on a business trip t

"Do you not know that she's pregnant already?" Max chuckled. "I know quite well, and that's why I'm telling you this because her baby is mine and not yours." Perry paused for a minute and stared at him like he didn't just hear what he said. He scoffed, wondering if he was aware of what he was talking about. "Can you even hear yourself?" Max smiled. "I know you'd never believe me just by my words, so I made sure to gather my evidence to show you." "What the heck?" Perry stared at him unbelievably, as he felt his heart beating heavily. "Even if what you're saying is true, why are you telling me now?" Max let out a sigh. "You might call it selfishness, but my heart hasn't healed from the hurt she put me through. I know your engagement with her is very close, and I don't want to see her happy after everything she did to me." "And what did she do to you exactly?" Perry asked as he sat up in his seat curiously "What could she have done that made you despise her so much to com

"Autumn is my ex-wife!" "Excuse me?" Gloria responded. She heard him well, but she wanted to believe she didn't. "Autumn is your ex-wife? You married your secretary?" She scoffed. "Am I good to go now that I've told you?" "What the… you're serious?" Her eyes opened wide in shock. "Was she also the one at the party the other night?" "Yes," he simply replied. Only then did the realization hit her. She knew she had heard that voice before, but she didn't know where it was She had wondered why his secretary was rude to her the very first time they set eyes on each other, but now she could tell why she had behaved like that to her. "You dated that thing?" She asked, her face filled with irritation. "Watch your words, Gloria. I'm not in the best mood at the moment, and you know that" he responded. "Do you even know how I feel about that at the moment?!" He raised his voice at him. "You claimed to divorce her and now you're coming to pay her bills?" "Please—" "Oh, spar

"Where are you headed?" Perry asked his parents as he looked from Lucy to his dad and back at Lucy "Gloria and I are here to have a surprise dinner with you," he added, and Gloria simply smiled at them. Lucy rolled her eyes at him. "That's none of your business. We have somewhere urgent to go," she said and walked past him, but Perry was quick to drag his mum back by the hand. "Perry!" She snapped at him and yanked his hand off her arm. "Can someone at least tell me what's happening?!" He asked at the top of his voice, while Gloria stood there staring at them. Mr. Moore checked the time on his wristwatch, and seeing that arguing with Perry would only make them late, he decided to tell him what happened "Autumn's mother needs to go through an operation and the fee is a little high for her." Perry's eyes went wide open in shock. "Her sister called us for help, and that's where we're going. Is that okay now?" He then turned to Gloria "My dear, we won't be available tonight

Autumn rubbed her hands together anxiously as she awaited the response of the doctor. He cleared his table and sat on his office chair, while she sat opposite him. "What's going on with her?" She asked him with a look of fear on her face. The doctor looked at her, then at the paper in his hand, then back at her. He then started to explain his diagnosis. "She happened to have arrhythmias, heart valve problems, and high blood pressure in her lung arteries, which led to a heart failure that made her collapse." "Oh my God," Autumn gasped, as she covered her mouth with her hands. Her eyes were teary by now as she stared at the doctor. "Isn't there anything that could be done about it?" She added after a couple of seconds. "Will she survive it? What do I have to do to make her feel better? Will she get better? She won't die now, will she? Please, be honest with me," she begged with teary eyes as her heart began to beat heavily. She had arguments with her mother a lot, but she w

Autumn arrived at Biarritz Tech Company and rushed over to the receptionist's table. The young lady looked at her with an emotionless face, expecting her to say something since she had no idea who she was or whom she was there to see. "Good afternoon," Autumn said and stood in front of the receptionist. "I was called a couple of minutes back to come over to this company right away." "Name?" "Autumn." "Autumn?" The receptionist raised her head to look at Autumn again, giving her a disapproving stare. "Do you not have a last name?" "It's Dax. Autumn Dax." Confirming that 'Autumn Dax' was on the list of new employees, she gave Autumn a brisk nod. "Go to the office on the last end of the next floor." "Thank you," Autumn replied with false pleasantness and skipped towards the elevator. On getting to the next floor's waiting hall, a young lady stepped out of the office directly opposite her and called out, "Autumn Dax." "Here!" She replied and launched to her feet. The
