After Oisin had seemingly laughed at me for no reason, I grew a distaste for his presence. I wasn’t exactly keen on being insulted by a thirteen year old bird because of some animals.

Besides, unlike the animals, what ever their names might have been , wolves had their pride and we would never allow ourselves to be subjugated like that and become someone’s pet.

So I walked away from Oisin and the strange boy, Roman. I went back to the tree line and rested against a tree there. It was already getting late and the sun was about to set so I knew that Phoenix would soon com e out of the cave. He seemed like one to keep to time.

After a while, Rowena came back with the huge bear at her heels. She was patting it’s head. My reaction to the creature wasn’t very pleasant, especially when it turned it’s gaze to me. No matter what they told me, I would always find it hard to believe that the bear hadn’t been about to kill me before Rowena had called him off.

We all waited outside for a few more

  • MY SECOND-CHANCE MATE IS A WOLF HUNTER   CHAPTER 220: PHOENIX

It was the next day after the first night of celebration.I removed the dagger from its scabbard and examined it. It was sharp, dangerous and deadly."What did you call me here for Phoenix?" Morning asked. She had seen me unsheath my dagger and she sounded curious, but not afraid. There was never any need for her to be afraid of me."I saw what you did during the last battle. You were able to contribute something, and that something was a lot more meaningful than even you probably know." I said.Morning quietly stared back at me. There wasn't any reply that she could give to that.Maybe she was thinking I was flattering her to increase her self confidence, but that wasn't the truth."Catch." I said as I tossed the dagger towards her. She was able to catch it out of the air easily.During the fight, Morning had killed two invocates. One was a guard while the other one was Dekle. One of those kills were more important than the other one.The reason I was thankful to her was because she

  • MY SECOND-CHANCE MATE IS A WOLF HUNTER   CHAPTER 219: CARTER

I took a deep breath to relax myself.I wasn't sure where I was when I woke up, but I understood I was in the Stoneclaw pack now.Apparently I was unconscious for three days too. That sounded a little daunting, but I've honestly heard of worse.Still I never expected to see myself in a position like this. Needing someone to heal me from a possibly fatal wound. In truth, I never expected to even come out of the last predicament alive.I had already made my peace with my live and I was ready to die.Waking up after an expression like that felt very strange to say the least.I pinched the bridge of my nose.It was definitely a situation. Then I looked up at the healer woman. She had been standing there and watching me through out.As I looked at her, she gave me a smile."So you're the one who healed me huh." I said as I looked her up and down."Saved your life actually." She corrected. "You managed to mess yourself up very nicely. Maybe you should be more careful where you step next tim

  • MY SECOND-CHANCE MATE IS A WOLF HUNTER   CHAPTER 218: PHOENIX

I stood to the side with a smile as Morning was celebrated. Her facial expression warmed my heart.Yes, it may have been the case that the Alpha was grossly misunderstanding the situation. But this was actually the best outcome for us.The reason we didn’t go to the pack to warn them about the hunters in the first place was because of how territorial wolves could be. I knew that they would capture us first if we were lucky. There was no way it could work. So the plan was to take care of the hunters without alarming the Stoneclaw pack.Of course things went sideways. The fight went out of control and Carter, someone who had opted out at the start ended up being injured just because he stayed behind. With Carter’s state of health it was impossible for us to decline going to the pack. Even though I knew it was a risk it was still the only option we had.If not, for that girl Silver seeing parts of the battle we would have most likely never even entered the pack in the first place.A

  • MY SECOND-CHANCE MATE IS A WOLF HUNTER   CHAPTER 217: MORNING

Phoenix and I got dressed and quickly left our house. It was a strange feeling to say the least. After everything that and happened, we were leaving a house all alone. We had been traveling with the others for so long, that it just being the two of us felt very different. Almost like we were a… couple. The night time helped to cover my blush as we tried to find the venue of the ceremony. No guard had come to remind us about the ceremony. That was strange considering how the guards liked to pester us. But it might have had something with how Phoenix behaved the last time we had gotten to see a guard. I hadn’t been the one to act then, but I didn’t lame Phoenix for anything. And that was because I would have liked to do much worse. Maybe punch him in the face. But luckily, the pack wasn’t too big so finding the venue didn’t take too long. Plus it also helped that we were able to follow the sound of the music and other things. We got there to see that it was the Alpha’s 'palace'.T

  • MY SECOND-CHANCE MATE IS A WOLF HUNTER   CHAPTER 216: MORNING

I was surprised to see that Phoenix was fast asleep on the bed.A sense of disappointment washed over me. But I quickly recovered. It was actually good that he went to sleep.I could still remember how burnt out Phoenix was back during the fight. He had fought to his limit and performed things that were already beyond human ability. It was actually miraculous that he had stayed awake till now. Or was I the one who was keeping him up? I wondered. After seeing that he was sleeping, I went to the corner of the room and picked up clothes. I wore them right there in the room. I didn’t know why I did it, but I felt embarrassed while doing it. Yet Phoenix remained askeep. After I was dressed, a yawn quickly escaped my mouth. I realized that I must have also been greatly tired too. After all, it wasn’t like I didn’t put up a fight this time. I was able to take out two hunters and one of them was actually important too.I didn’t feel as useless as I had been before. Maybe I was actuall

  • MY SECOND-CHANCE MATE IS A WOLF HUNTER   CHAPTER 215: MORNING

I basically jumped off Phoenix when I heard the noise. My face was burning as red as the sun and my eyes were opened wide.Knock knock knock!“Who's there!?” Phoenix asked with a surprisingly aggressive voice. The unknown person took a moment before answering Phoenix’s question.“My Lady?” The person who I now suspected was a guard asked. He didn’t sound sure of himself at all.I glanced to Phoenix. Just like me he was still breathing heavily. I had started calming down, and I felt just how fast my heart had been beating. And j was still breathless.Phoenix frowned as he stood up from the bed. His muscles rippled with the motion.“I’ll get it.” He said. Somehow his voice sounded a lot deeper.I blushed again. Then I decided that the best option would be to run inside the bathroom. But I didn’t lock the door, instead I looked outside through the door.Phoenix went to the corner of the room where his shirt had flown to. He picked it up and wore it. I heard a year as he put th
