Ario POV

I came outside of our room, heading to the living room. Everyone was here except Jane.

“How is she?” Pa asked.

“She keeps murmuring father in her sleep,” I said, collapsing on the couch.

“She really loves her father,” he said, sitting beside me. I sighed.

“I don’t blame her. All her life was a mess. Harold was the only one who cared for her and was there like a father, but he was not her true father. But Aelle is her father; she shares his blood, and he loves her. She must have planned something for this war; Aelle dying was not the plan,” I said. Everyone went quiet.

“But why did Aelle take that sword? Jane obviously wronged him but still died for her,” Brandon said. I kept quiet, processing it.

“He couldn’t stand watching his daughter kill her mother, the woman he loves,” I said.

“It’s too sad,” Odin said, and I agreed with him. We all remained quiet in our thoughts. A lot happened today. After Aelle died, the remaining warriors retreated, running away. We didn’t lose many
