Maeve POV

I stood, looking at her dead body. She was truly dead, and I don’t know how I feel. Happy she is gone or sad because she was still the woman who gave birth to me. I looked at George.

“How do you feel?” I asked, my voice hoarse. He blinked. We were the only ones in the room.

“Lost,” he said, looking at her. She slit her own throat. She is a coward. I sighed.

“I’m sorry you lived a lonely life because of her decisions,” I said. He looked at me.

“Why are you apologizing? It wasn’t any of your fault she chose to abandon me,” he said. Who would have thought we were truly related? I never thought about it once, but I saw him as my little brother. When I met him, he was so young, lost, and innocent. I grew a soft spot for him as he stared at me innocently with his doe eyes. He was cute.

“I wish you met your father; he would have loved you,” I said, chuckling. Father has a spot for people like George who are naughty, playful, and powerful; they would have gone along so well.
