Chapter One

He hit me again and almost hit our daughter. I had enough of this I can't take it anymore.

"This house better be cleaned before I get back!" He yelled and stormed out

"Rosy come on baby girl I need you to grab your bag okay," I said as I threw clothes into my bag

I took the money I saved all these years since Rosy was born and placed it in my wallet before putting it in Rosy's small bag.

I packed her bags and we left. We got on the bus and went to New York. On our way there my beauty fell asleep.

Once we got there I took a taxi to the only place I knew. I knocked on the door even though it was late and dark

"Arora?" My dad asked as he opened the door

"Dad," I said and come into the light

"Did he do this?" Dad growled

"Can we stay here please just till I get a job and a house?" I asked not wanting to talk about my bruises

"Oh baby girl," he said and hugged me before saying, "You're always welcome to stay here for as long as you want,"

My dad isn't my real dad. He's my stepfather who raised me since I was 11 so I call him dad. He has two sons that are older than me and who live here with him. And if you wonder where my mom is she died about two years ago just before Rosy was 3

Dad grabbed my bags and we went in. My brothers came down looking tired as hell

"Hey what are you doing here?" Corey asked

"She'll be staying with us for a while," Dad said

Felix lifted my chin and looked at my bruises and hugged me before saying, "Corey take Rosy to her room I'll clean Arora up,"

"I'm fine," I said and he just gave me a look and dragged me to the kitchen

"So?" Dad asked as Felix was getting an ice pack

"He tried to hit Rosy because she left her doll in the living room. I grabbed his hand and he got angrier and took it out on me," I said

"Was he drunk?" Felix asked

"Yes," I said just when Corey came back into the room

"She's in her bed still passed out," he said and sat down

"I'll make a few calls tomorrow and get her in a school nearby," Dad said and kissed my head before saying good night

"You can come with me tomorrow to the place I work at. My boss is looking for a new secretary I can introduce you to him," Felix said

"Sure thanks," I said and he smiled before saying, "Go get some rest,"

I went upstairs and looked into Rosy's room and saw she was sleeping peacefully. I then when to my room and lay down on the bed

I rolled around for a while but I couldn't find myself falling asleep.
